That is cool, this reminds of what I did almost a year ago. I ended up installing 1 bridge, 50 lights, and 2 sensors. It was a whole day project. Now it is paired with security, Alexa, and Apple HomeKit.
I just installed the starter kit for the Generation 3 Hue Lights. Please note that there is a warning not to put the bulbs in an enclosed fixture. The heat that is generated can shorten the life of the bulbs. And for the A19's, that is $50 each. The lights will work with either Alexa or Google Home setups. Also, the lights are not meant to be used in a bathroom (moisture) or an installed dimmer switch. The dimmer switch can lower the life cycle and can cause an annoying hum. I love the lights, don't get me wrong, but at this price point to shorten the life cycle and not be aware can be costly.
If you are getting extreme heat off your Hue bulbs its your Fixture and not your bulbs.... I can leave mine on for HOURS and still unscrew them and hold them in my hand just fine.... And as for not having then in the bathroom.... I have some in my bathroom and again NOTHING has happened to them..... Unless you are transforming your bathroom in a tropical rain forest(sounds like a great hue scene to create) everytime you take a shower then they will be just fine in there as well...
Appreciate the heads-up but that would be something for someone who has a bathroom that is not well ventilated. Plus I don't pay full price for my bulbs anyways. And all my light strips are ran off of zigbee modules and rgbw strip which are the same ones I use for my car.
Try leaving an air space between the enclosed fixture glass and the fixture. Also, try running these bulbs at 50% unless you need 100% lumens all the time.
ibuprofanity light switches just provide an electrical current to the bulb, but don't actually control the phillips hue light on/ off. any bulb in a lamp or ceiling should have the light switch always on. the hue hub and whatever controller you use will be what is used to power the bulbs on/off. if the switch is off the bulb will not go on until you manually turn the switch on.
Keep doing smart home/ home networking stuff and you may need a server rack. Seriously, I ran out of router ports a long time ago. Between a SmartThings hub, Philips Hue hub, PC, game systems, NAS drives, and a VOIP box, I now have two ethernet switches in addition to my router and even with that all the ports are nearly full.
You can buy a android tv setupbox, and controll your lights, sync, in combination with google nest mini. Just install the android app on your android tv box
I use Phillip Hughes bulbs throughout the house and zigbee led wifi modules ($20) 16 ft of rgbw LED strips ($10) and one ikea trådfri color bulb for the overhead light in the shower due to the fact I cannot leave the light switch on without the fan running with it... but it is hell programming all of these lights with individual names to your Google home
Philips says not to use the bulbs in an enclosed fixture. I suspected that was because it may block the WIFI signal from picking it up but apparently that's not the case so I wonder why they say that? Yours work fine in the fan. I think I'll put them in the bathroom now since they seem to work for you.
It's nice if one still has E27 based light sources. But when switching to LED I also switched to GU10, because those LED Lamps were better in price:light ratio. But I'm strugglint to commit to buy 6 GU10 Hue-Lights for 60€ a piece to light my 20qm living room. And since I like my living room bright, I'm unsure if less lamps would suffice.
This is all pretty cool, but just curious if you put a Philips Hue bulb into an existing fixture in your home and you always keep that power on 24/7, how is that affecting power consumption on all those fixtures even when the lights are turned off?
Alot of those bulbs probably won't last the warranty period of 2 years because they're in enclosed fixtures. I know this because I work tech support for that company.
Hi! I am from India! I wanna get my home smarter but my only thought is would the smart devices work with my existing electrical switchs at home??( as they are different in India as compared to abroad) as when I say Google home to switch off the light and the electric switch is still physically on please help me as I am planning to buy the gadgets!!
So glad I found your channel. I just finished a 2 year build on a commercial recording studio. We’re using Philips Hue E26 bulbs in the ceiling and the LED tape lights around the perimeter of the rooms. The problem is that our bulbs are all making a high pitched, constant whistling/ringing sound. The tape lights are quiet. We have NOT installed our dim switches yet, only normal generic wall switches so far. The noise gets louder as I increase brightness on the app. Darker colors barely make any noise at all. Any idea what the issue is? Thank you
Honestly, I am not sure on that one I am afraid. I don't remember mine making that sound, but then again, you'd be in a much quieter environment than I.
People with taste and sense of quality buy philips hue lamps. Light bulbs are not just plain lightbulbs people. The other bunch find the price more important, and have no knoledge how to make your house feel comfy with just lights. It does not matter if your poor or rich, it can break or make any home interior.
Long time since I took it down and moved. BUT I can say that every single bulb and LED Strip still works! I donated them to my parents and they use them all to this day. 👍🏼
That would be 3 meters of Philips Hue Lightstrip. This: www.amazon.es/gp/product/B0148NMVJW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and this: www.amazon.es/gp/product/B015LZ0PC6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 :)
Hola Had a 100% Hue home for over 2 years now, whit 13 bolds and 2 strips, they are awesome. But I see the V2 have Siri options on it, which V1 dont have, thinking of getting new starter pack to get 3 more bolds and the new V2 Bridge. How is your experience whit the use of Siri and Hue? Can she turn any color on any bold separately when you name them? How are the 2 new bolds you got compare to the others? Whats the difference? How much did you pay for everything? (Or the startup pack whit the V2 bridge) Last question, did you bye from apple? Or is there a cheeper place to order? You are going to love it mate, recommend Hue Disco app for moods and music. Cheers Kenneth
Hi Kenneth! It sure has! 1. Yeah, she pretty much can. That said, I don't think she can do all 16 million colors! :) Maybe she understands color codes? 2. Honestely, I can see a big difference between the normal 2gen and the "new brighter" 2gen. That said, I haven't compared them closely. I don't think theres a reason to replace a normal 2gen with the new 2gen. 3. I'll post a budget in the description ^. 4. I bought it all from Amazon. I have Prime member, so I get some discounts there. I'm sure you can find it cheaper somewhere. But Apple probably isn't the cheapest place to buy! :O I sill need to try that app! Thanks for the recommendation Kenneth! I will try it out. :)

Such a massive difference in ambiance. That lighting gives the rooms so much more personality.

Your supposed to turn off the light when you change the bulb
Yeah dumbass
As an electrician... it doesn't matter fam
It just same bro
That supposed to not got electric shock i know, but im pretty sure this time its more safe
*You're

You should put a socket in the wall to keep your android phone that you are gonna use as a controll on charge
"How to go broke in my house"
True!
One year later, how has this worked out for you +Tomassively ???
excited to see the final result!
Editing that right now! Going live tomorrow. It's turned out great. :)
Tomassively This video feels like it was made in 2018, time traveller?
I suggest you have the light off when switching them
You should use Google home to easily manage all those light bulbs.
I'm about a 75% hue household with 32 lights, and about 8 accessories. >$3000 spend
😂😂 It's real out here
*bows*
I envy you man, im just starting
Do the light switches need to be switched on, in order for the light to work?
Yeah, they do. You simply switch all the light switches on. :)
I did the same thing to my house but installed control remote in place of where the switches are. Much better setup.
ibuprofanity light switches just provide an electrical current to the bulb, but don't actually control the phillips hue light on/ off. any bulb in a lamp or ceiling should have the light switch always on. the hue hub and whatever controller you use will be what is used to power the bulbs on/off. if the switch is off the bulb will not go on until you manually turn the switch on.
Do they use power while not on, as the light switch is on? Just thinking running costs.
***** thanks Ryan, not the best solution then. Even when the bulb is off by the app, you are still using energy.
Keep doing smart home/ home networking stuff and you may need a server rack. Seriously, I ran out of router ports a long time ago. Between a SmartThings hub, Philips Hue hub, PC, game systems, NAS drives, and a VOIP box, I now have two ethernet switches in addition to my router and even with that all the ports are nearly full.
buy a switch lol
Netgear 32 switch is the way to go
You can buy a android tv setupbox, and controll your lights, sync, in combination with google nest mini.
Just install the android app on your android tv box
how did you replace the lamps which you have to push into the socket instead of screwing them?
They were all normal screw-fittings as far as I remember. :o
But at 6:06 you said "i replaced these lamps" and on the left side there are some lamps with a different socket
oh I just found them, they are philips hue white ambiance :)
2:26 that face though
I will change all my notification sounds for "ubububu". 1:24 - enjoy. So cute! Nice vid btw!
So can one hub control all the light strips in the house? Or will I have to buy a light strip starter kit for each room?
1 hub to control them all. :)
I hub controls 50 lights
congrats now your house is more customizeable B)
His place is lit

Yeah, so far NO problems at all mate. :) I'm sure it's best not to put them in enclosed fixtures, but that really wouldn't work for me. :O
I miss these types of videos he made like this. Where did he go!!!
He went broke from buying all this hue stuff
It's nice if one still has E27 based light sources. But when switching to LED I also switched to GU10, because those LED Lamps were better in price:light ratio. But I'm strugglint to commit to buy 6 GU10 Hue-Lights for 60€ a piece to light my 20qm living room. And since I like my living room bright, I'm unsure if less lamps would suffice.
Honestly it would’ve been cheaper just buying a bridge with 2/3 lights instead of buying them separate, even if he already had one
This video about 2 years now how did it go?
Sorry, went well! But, I moved out of that apartment before I could conclude anything really. :)
This is all pretty cool, but just curious if you put a Philips Hue bulb into an existing fixture in your home and you always keep that power on 24/7, how is that affecting power consumption on all those fixtures even when the lights are turned off?
They don't really eat power it uses 9.3 watts at 840 lumens and between 0.0 watts and 0.3 watts when off...hope that answers your question
Does the lights automatically connect to the bridge? Plz answer someone
hjalte Henriksen yes they do
Jamal Khalid ok thx!
Sort of, yeah. You have to set them up in the Philips Hue app, but it's pretty easy.
What was the total amount spent? I'm up to 3 colors, 2 whites and a Hue Go so far. Still have a ways to go.
By replacing Lights First turn off Light or you get shock
I know this comment is late, a while ago they have some outdoor lights now. They look really good in backyards, front yards
I rlly miss this channel it was SOOO GOOD!
What happened...?
Alot of those bulbs probably won't last the warranty period of 2 years because they're in enclosed fixtures. I know this because I work tech support for that company.
I like your subtle router ;P

@Tomassively Just wanted to ask. How you have put lightstrip on sofa? Did you just layed it down there?
I just put it on the back of the couch. Not attached or anything.
Now however (I've moved since then), It's stuck to the floor behind the couch. :)
So you just bought a bunch of lightbulbs and didn’t check any of the fittings?? I wish I had that kind of money lol

What is the color of these lights?
Are they warm white in colour
Warm for single colour bulb. I used full colour bulbs in my bedside lamp and set the app to sunrise and sunset. Helps to wake you up without an alarm.
What is the tune by bonorno ??

how much for everything?
Hi man. Is it still working properly? :D
Long time since I took it down and moved. BUT I can say that every single bulb and LED Strip still works! I donated them to my parents and they use them all to this day. 👍🏼
hey what is that knife?
Very nice editing, Casey style ;)
Cheers! I'll take that as a compliment. ;) I love Casey.
Thanks Fernando.
You should ;) What equipment do you use? Camera, lights and editing software?
Cheers!
Canon 80D, Joby tripod. Final Cut Pro X. Lighting: Whatever's around me. Nothing professional. :)
You mean, blatantly copying a style?
How much did the entire house setup cost?
Anyone tried to put it on sofa? Do you use lightstrips adhesive or just lay it down on the sofa behind cushions? Anyone can respond please???
The light strips have a 3M tape for application.
Yeah, that's what I use now. But it wouldn't work on the fabric. Maybe some velcro would do the trick?
what lights did u put behind the couch
That would be 3 meters of Philips Hue Lightstrip.

Thanks. I want to make this my man cave project
+Kavin Williams sounds superb! You can make magic happen with these lights.
i can see soon you will need to add a 5 or 8 port switch for more ports.
How much money did this all cost?
I think there's a budget breakdown in part 3. 👍🏼
So expensive
Under the share button you can see sponsored. If you didn't know he got it free for advertising it.
Emo Parker It isn’t sponsored, because they wouldn’t give small youtubers things for free since they don’t have a big enough audience
when a burglar comes... set the lights to red and play scary ambient sound and then some scary laughing. it would scare the shit out of them.
If I was the robber, i would go for the hue lights xD (so freaking expensive)
Connect it to the alarm system
how much do you payed for all?
paid
that's so awesome, i can't wait to see part 3
Thanks Beakerzor! Tomorrow, there'll be a video showing it all. :)
How much would it be for a full room? So curious and i want them!
Depends on how many light sources. :o But it's not cheap. See the description mate.
Blondes & lightbulbs!
This is literally my dream... I was going to get Hue on the Boxing Day sale then I realised you had to but the bridge for an extra 80 dollars!
Now you don’t have to, they have Bluetooth bulbs that don’t require a bridge, I got a 3 pack color bulbs on sale for $99.
what kind of animal is that?
:O
Hey man! Awesome videos. They were exactly what I needed to finally decide that I'm gonna go for it. *subscribed*
Thanks man! Appreciated.
I hope you're getting a cool Philips Hue setup up and running! :)
nice video!
Thanks Kiet!
Euro?????
cool mann!
This Viking Warrior has too much money to spend I suppose...:DD
a fortune! Kind of jealous...I want to do the same thing, but will have to go slowly...one room at a time.

Why do you hate the 6p?!
Mostly because of the camera app. So slow. I would get the shot 1/10 times. :(
Tomassively Oh, you might have HDR mode on, the pictures come out a lot better, but it does take a lot more time than if you have it off
+Andre Frueh yeah, but when I can buy an iPhone that'll do HDR in a fraction of the time, that's what I'm gonna do. :o
Nonetheless, the 6P is a way better device than its apple counterparts imho. BTW, great project!
Different strokes, for different folkes. :)
My god, how much did that all cost?!

Mate huawei p6 is not obselete android is way better than ios anyway nice light set up.
Hmm that's a Google Nexus 6P (made by Huawei) i guess??
It isn’t made by huawei, but it is really cool
it is
Yes, it is
What else to expect. Tipicall iOS guy, anything what not iOS is absolete...lol
Where the colours at though 😅
You used a 6P for a light switch!!! WHY!
A little overkill maybe.. ;) I had it to spare.
It does make for a brilliant lightswitch though.
If you need more ports on your router, get a network switch. More ports that goes to one port on the router
Abi elektrik faturasi patlak gelcek
i have spot lights in my house in my room alone 9 Spotlights 1 long Led Strip
Philips Hue ones? :)
You need to turn the lights of before replacing it wat you did was kinda dangerous
That's sick #subbed
That smartphone controller needs a recharge every 3 days or so...
It would be impossible in my house there are at least 15 light bulbs in every room!
Wow, really? How come? :)
Wouldn’t it be 50%
cool man
nice
Let me have the rest of those hue bulbs
5:40 WARNING! Rich People Only
not the cheapest way but i love it tho
But are you happy (with your haircut).
Philips is best.
sure would have been nice to see the final effect after sitting through more than 6 minutes of BS.
Episode 3 is out.
Long behold there's a gen 3
Yeah, crazy. :)
Not much as changed since Gen 2 though. Just better colors.
Are you Danish?
That generation will buy $500 worth of RGB wifi-connected light bulbs before checking to see if they actually fit in their light fixtures..... You know why because free onlinereturns no questions asked cuz they don't want their feelings hurt 🥺🥺🥺

😎
No such thing as a Alexa. There is such a thing as an AMAZON ECHO.
Get it right.
Thanasis Thymis using Alexa to control anything is a gimmick... it’s for the wannabe home automation tweaks who think their cool
#androidsucks
Apple users have something called HomeKit. They can control it from anywhere, anytime, with voice or with the app.
He must be a Milliadaire
why the fuck dont you put the router on top of the cabinet or in it?
Google Nexus 6P
Um maybe turn the light off before you unscrew it because you know death
Way too expensive though.
can you send me the leftovers...
Haha, I'm sure I'll find a place for it. ;)
Can I have the leftovers?? 😩 I really want hue lights but I'm supper broke. College sucks.
Wish I could $1000 on hue lights but no can't do
He looks like my homie from Illinois
It was annoying to keep skipping 10 seconds in every part of this video
