Ciara Thanks so much for putting together this video, as a fellow PhD student in Ireland - I really appreciate you sharing your experience with us. This is so powerful to inspire and show people in a similar position what is possible to do while on their phd journeys! Keep up the good work and look after yourself ;D
loved watching this Ciara, you’re so hardworking & it clearly pays off! Thanks for sharing the cons as well as it’s equally important to put the whole thing into perspective. Glad you enjoy the majority of what you do but hope you get some time to relax during the holidays coming up 💛
Thank you I have watched some videos of your before i am in my 2nd year of PhD inNZ i liked what you have shared and the disclaimer you made Since last year ive been thinking of doing a phd youtube channel to share what ive learned and to help others but havent decided yet because its still up in the air but who knows take care and thank you so so much you are awesome
This is part of the democratizarion of information in current world we live. Thank you for your transparency! Personally, I look beyond "the money" in any job (employee or entrepreneur). Eighty (80) hours of work week! Bench PhD students may not be able to do this. But do what works for you, anyways. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the fab video Ciara! I'm 2 months into my PhD so great to be able to go back and watch all of your videos! Really interested in getting into the teaching positions while at uni but I guess this might come later? Thanks!
Thanks so much for this video! It’s very impressive how much you’re able to work & hustle, and I appreciate the disclaimer at the end. I really like your financial videos and I’d love to see more :) Also a video on starting a UA-cam channel/getting into content creation would be really cool, allotments with
Just got thinking based on the final segment(s), due to be starting a phd in september (similar field to you), how does time off/holidays work on a phd, say in comparison to a regular job?
Hello Ciara! I am an Indian student, and I am willing to do PhD from abroad. The issue is, my financial status is not good. My father earns around 8.5k-9k dollars annually, with my brother also studying in an Indian University. So, can you please guide me how should I manage my PhD expenses? Thank you for your time.
@@AT-oi6li Does UK also pay for PhD? Like, in UK from stipends one can get upto 17-18k pounds, but they charge around 30-40k per year for international students before admitting. So, that's where I need some financial aid at.
10 streams is kind of nuts. We love to see it
Hahaha thanks ! It has me fairly wiped out

Hey! I think it depends on the programme. I was assisting with some classes in first year but in Computer Science that would be quite normal
Wow, they pay for TAing additionally, that's good. I hope we had that in India, here TAing comes as a responsibility within existing phd stipend.
Yes it definitely depends a lot depending on the university and programme
Really useful! Thanks Ciara!

You are truly incredible :))))

One thing that I can say for sure, Ireland is expensive. You need multiple income sources to maintain a decent standard of living there.
That's for sure!!

Pretty much the same although in my PhD I never need to really request the time off I just let my supervisors know
Hi Ciara

Try European universities. You get paid to do phds.
