The van is looking good man! I’m currently building my own ram pro master up here in Alaska (semi-similar build as yours but you’re definitely more skilled with woodworking than I). I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate the detail and the step by step process that you show in your videos. I’ve used them to help me with floor, walls and all sorts of odds and ends. In a world filled with before and after shots where everything looks like it took a day and a half after you filter it through Instagram, I really just wanted to let you know that you stand out. Keep it up!
That is going to be a sweet van when 100% . That cabinet is looking great. You taught me a lot. Those sliders are great. I'm looking forward to seeing how you attach the drawer faces.
Lovely work, you're very talented. I always wanted push to open drawers, on doing research this is what they're all saying: "Don't do it! I did and regret it. Will be replacing them soon. They open every time I drive 🚗 😒" Soft close is what you want, where they are stiff to pull open, hense they stay closed.
Thanks. I’ve got one problem drawer but it’s because I installed it a little off - I just need to spend a few hours redoing it. Other than that one, I’ve been happy with my drawers.
hey Jason, I love the way you built these cabinets and I plan on doing the same in my van build, my question is if I wanted to add a toe kick to the kitchen build how would I go about doing that? Thanks!!
You used .5 inch for the draws but 3/4 in for the frame right? Whats the overall weight estimate? I'm looking at doing something simliar but after making my upper cabinets out of 3/4 marine grade and each of those being 30-40 lbs I'm worried this will be like 100 lbs of wood alone..
Hey Jason! Awesome video and superb kitchen build!! Did you out your oven directly on the plywood or did you do a layer of insulation of some kind? I see some people do cement board and don’t know if that’s overkill. Thanks!
The moment I came to Tasmania everything moved, here those drawers would be falling out due to the windy roads...lol...not to mention rough dirt tracks...lol...I hardly have 1 day in 5 months where nothing moves. 😂
Hi Jason, I see that you have 2 styles of drawer slides listed above. Which ones do you like best? We are in the process of cabinet building for our van and would love your feedback. Gratitude.
8 years...8 different versions of my E250 Ford Econoline. I now have an Isotherm 85L refrigerator and its snowing today so im looking at refrigerator cabinet videos. stumbled onto your video and i think i shall have an oven also. is there some heat shielding fire resistant paint etc used or just fit it in? thats a great cabinet! thanks for sharing.
Nice. Nope, it's just dropped into the cabinet. I thought the same thing and did a lot of research before I felt comfortable installing it in my van. The cabinet has to be built around the oven in a certain way for it to be safe, the documentation for the oven includes all the dimensions for what the cutout should be.
Is the dometic Atwood good to go like that? Or did you plan to use hardie boards and/or thermotech? I have the same and debating if I should drop the oven straight on the plywood
I'm not sure about the Atwood. I thought about doing the same thing and did a lot of research before I felt comfortable installing it in my van. The cabinet has to be built around the oven in a certain way for it to be safe, the documentation for my oven included all the dimensions for what the cutout should be and how it should be installed.
What depth did you build your cabinets? Both the kitchen cabinet and the sink cabinet. It says in your show notes that they are 24'' deep. Both cabinets? How wide is your aisle between them? Very nice presentation of your build, btw! I think I have seen a couple hundred videos on vans/builds and keep coming back to yours. They are straight forward and to the point. Thanks!
A nice table saw is much better than using a track saw. But if you don't spend the money on a nice large table saw, then no, the track saw is better IMO.
Liking your work a lot can I have the floor dimensions of your kitchen cabinets and the dimensions of the bottom of the wall cabinets and Height please
Hi Jason. What wood did you use for the batoning and for the face frames? and do the face frames sit flush or do you have to instal spacers for the draw hinges etc? sorry but i couldnt see in the description or mentioned in the video. thanks
@@JasonKlunk in your video you showed some kind of panel that I believe you were installing on your doors or walls. It looked like a white paneling or something. Lol. It was in your video that I watched like three times...lol. I kind of copied your cabinets. On my build. And now I'm working on doors.
@@JasonKlunk hahaha. I seen this reply and was like. What's he talking about ???? Lol. But ok thanks Jason it looked like some type of PVC sheeting.. that's why I asked... But cool thanks for the reply.. and man awesome job you are doing to your van/ Home. 🚐🚐🚐🚐💯💯💯💯
I'm also looking to fit the dometic r31 in my van kitchen. I am bit confused by the pre-install/install requirements. It looks like its pretty flush on the sides and bottom but there is some space in the back? Could you explain that a bit?
I’ve never done any sort of wood working in my life, but i can’t tell if I’m just dumb for thinking I can do that and it doesn’t look too difficult lol
haha. Woodworking is interesting, it's definitely very approachable for someone without experience. In the end it all depends on how picky and accurate you want to be. The difficulty comes when you start trying to build cabinetry and things like that where everything needs to be completely square, and that is hard to achieve.
Great video Jason! Question: Those drawer slides.. How did they work out in the end? Have you been driving the van with things in the drawers? I am thinking of using the same type sliders but concerned that they will work okay as I don't see many using this type. :D Thanks!!
They will open when you drive, get the soft close ones that have tension when you pull them to open, they'll work perfectly, push to open are only good if you're in sticks and bricks.
I really like them so far. You'll have a drawer slide open occasionally depending on what you have in them and how bumpy your ride is. Overall though, I think they are a great option for a van.
Who makes the best pizza dough? My vote is Trader Joes.
Jason Klunk if you’d ever travel to denmark, don’t say your last name.
Fessor er forvirret lol why
Come on Jason. That beautiful stove you just bought. Man make your own dough...lol

I make mine with scone mixture. Roll it out really thin. It's yum
This is EXACTLY what I needed! My camper is 10x7, and a lot of the camper cabinet videos I've seen are just wayy too big and complicated. Thank you!
Glad it helped
Sweet drawer slides, I’m definitely using this in my cabinet, thanks for the awesome video!
Just what I wanted to see. Thank you so much for posting this.
You're welcome
Thank you so much for posting these videos. I’m building out a 2020 PM and your buildout is helping my dreams to be a reality!
Glad to help

Did I see a Hansen's hoodie during the painting scene? Love your precision and the measuring. Seems like you have it dialed.
🙏 thanks. Yep, that’s a Hansen’s hoodie!
Just came across your channel. Great stuff
Awesome, thank you!
Looks great! Trying to get Inspiration for the kitchen I want to build

Great job
Plus awesome shop to work in it seems
Thank you. yes indeed! The shop was a nice change after doing the first few months in my front yard 😂

Realizing i need better tools for my next build. For now I will just be content with uneven edges and lines😂
haha. Yes, your build will be more enjoyable once you accept the fact that not everything can be perfect.
Hey Jason! Awesome video and superb kitchen build!! Did you out your oven directly on the plywood or did you do a layer of insulation of some kind? I see some people do cement board and don’t know if that’s overkill. Thanks!
Since those drawers have to push in, once you put the drawer faces on, how can you push them in since they'd hit the face frame of the box?
The faces sit off the face frame a few mm so the push system can engage.
Sorry - what do you mean by: 1x3's for 'stringers'? Thanks!
I used the 1x3's between any two pieces of ply. So for example @3:34, those pieces between the plywood are what I consider stringers.
Awesome video! How much would you estimate the cost of this galley when it was all said and done?
Really nice
Im doing pretty close to the same build.
Im worried about the heat transfer from the sides of the oven, did you have any issues?
Have you a video of how to install the fridge so it won't move
The moment I came to Tasmania everything moved, here those drawers would be falling out due to the windy roads...lol...not to mention rough dirt tracks...lol...I hardly have 1 day in 5 months where nothing moves. 😂
😂
The drawer slides you used are the 16 inches (that are directly linked on Amazon?) I have similar cabinet dimensions
Old Man Tip - Raise the cabinet off the floor when painting. Much easier and you'll save some wear and tear on your body.
Are those 1x3s for your supports/braces in your cabs? and 3/4in birth ply?
3/4 ply and I think just 3/4 ply ripped down to about 1x3 for supports.
@@JasonKlunk Ok thank you!
did you use 3/4inch plywood for the basic cabinet frame?
How do you like the kreg drawer slide jig?
I really like using them, it makes the installation so much easier

Of all the things you’ve done thus far is there anything you would do differently? Like in regards to solar? The max air fan install?
If I were to do another one, the only thing I'd try to do different is the wall paneling so that it went all the way to the ceiling.
Is the dometic Atwood good to go like that? Or did you plan to use hardie boards and/or thermotech?

How are the push to open slides working out for you?
I really like them, every once in a while one will pop open if I'm on some bumpy terrain.
Hi can i ask you a question about your drawer slides? Do they stay close when you’re driving?
Most of the time. Bumpy roads are a bit of a problem, but for the most part they are solid.
What depth did you build your cabinets? Both the kitchen cabinet and the sink cabinet. It says in your show notes that they are 24'' deep. Both cabinets? How wide is your aisle between them?

Would you say a table saw would be easier than using this method of cutting just using a circular saw?
A nice table saw is much better than using a track saw. But if you don't spend the money on a nice large table saw, then no, the track saw is better IMO.
Liking your work a lot can I have the floor dimensions of your kitchen cabinets and the dimensions of the bottom of the wall cabinets and Height please

3/4"

I used poplar for those pieces. I'm not sure what you're asking in regards to the face frames though.
Hey Jason I been needing to ask. What are you using for those panel covers ?? For doors.

My friend ended up renting a shop, so I was lucky enough to be able to share that space with him for a bit.

What's the name of that fantastic color?
if you look close enough, you can see the paint can at 7:08
The color is Yorktowne Green (HC-133)
Does the Oven just sit in the opening that you made for it or do you have to secure it somehow?
There are spots to secure the oven to the cabinet with screws
What is the height of your cabinet
They are standard sized cabinets. 34 1/2" for the cabinet, 36" with the butcher block.
Thank you appreciate that
Anyone notice it looks like he's already got it made by 2:10. You can see it on the left behind where he is working.
lol that’s a different cabinet.
What type of wood did you use for the framing?
What framing?
Jason Klunk , I think he’s referring to the face frame. Poplar 1x2?
@@pajlc yes, poplar 1x2's for the face frames. I used 1x3's for the stringers
Can you do what you've done without a nail gun? I don't own one...
You can just rely on screws, it's just a lot easier to keep things in place if you can get a couple nails in first
your buddy was a load of help then lol....
i got friends like that also .....
How Are they performing the center line drawer slides ? Worth to buy them? It’s not opening while driving?
