  • In Arabic grammar, "Adad" (عدد) can refer to singular (المفرد), dual (المثنى), and plural (الجمع).
    1. Singular (المفرد)
    Refers to one entity.
Example: كتاب (a book), رجل (a man), امرأة (a woman).
    2. Dual (المثنى)
    Used for exactly two entities.
Formed by adding "انِ" (for nominative case) or "ينِ" (for accusative/genitive case) to the singular noun.
Example: كتابانِ (two books), رجلانِ (two men), امرأتانِ (two women).
    3. Plural (الجمع)
Used for three or more entities.
