In Africa, many households spend a significant part of their income on food. In Kenya, where agriculture forms the backbone of the economy, the high prices of farm produce have been attributed to inefficiencies in farming and distribution of fresh produce. A new market on the outskirts of the capital city Nairobi, linking farmers and customers directly, now aims to address some of these barriers to access.
