Growing up with type 1 diabetes, I was asked to hide it cos ppl would stare when I took my shots and was bullied by kids at school when they found out I was diabetic. Wasn’t allowed to do sports in case my sugars drop too low etc etc. your life is never really normal when you have a chronic illness as a child and type 1 generally affects children, so it is nice to see ppl in different fields doing life with it, this isn’t a black mermaid issue. Think of Paralympic sports, it gives hope that you can too, when you see others do it. Stop barking up the wrong tree.

Sure it’s nice to see models who aren’t a million miles in the air, but… I’m about 4’8”, and many many people where my bloodline’s from are about my size too. (My mom is from Guatemala, and is 4’11. Most of my family on this side straddles the line of 5’, the tallest of us in my immediate family being 5’3” some of us are a bit taller farther out, but are then just average height.This to me does not seem particularly petite in comparison, except for the 5’4” gal, this is genuinely just average height women on the runway to me. They look like they could easily wear average clothing not in the petite sections of clothing stores without alteration to fit right. Unless they’re like, extra itty bitty in sizing somehow, not so much in height?

5.8 is quite average height for a girl or maybe slightly above average at Max not very tall at all. Starter tall for women would be somewhere around 5.10 I think. The average height for women in the Netherlands is only 5.7" to 5.8".

A lot of men there are shorter than some of these short Western models, as in those men are under 5'4 or 5'3. Also in Vietnam, Thailand etc, there are lots of smaller women under 5'4, 5'3. And Japan too has larger numbers of short people too, taller on average than Filipinos but shorter than in Korea and China. In Korea and China you can see the height difference between each generation - the younger generations are taller than the one before them. Among the elderly there are a lot of short people. The taller ones seem to come from northerly areas. China has many minority groups of people so there's quite a lot of variation, and witj a population that huge you'll find many more taller folks.
Let me explain something: People here keeps saying these women are tall compared to average women. You have to understand that runway models are usually around 1.80 (5’11 for my americans) and it’s very rare a model shorter than 1.75 (5’9) even gets CASTED for a runway show. In modeling in general, 5’7 is considered SHORT. We’re talking about modeling not the real world. Modeling is a job with certain physical requirements. Yes they are average for normal women but for modeling they are almost midgets

Leg lengthening surgery exists. But there's a limit to how much they can add. But some men have been able to gain quite a few inches, and you can really see that difference.
