The main problem I would have with a Viking ship is the rowing, and the plundering your destination at sword-point.

Haha! You could always retreat to the onboard snow grotto for some R&R between battles on the fearsome seas

My first Viking cruise was to Cuba. On this cruise I was in awe of everything, and I tried to do a little bit of everything on an 8 day cruise. I was so exhausted by the end of the trip trying to take in everything, but I was hooked on Viking after that. My last cruise was the Viking Homelands, and it was my favorite vacation I've ever been on. On this cruise I had already done my research and realized some of the things I did on my first cruise I didn't love as much as I thought I would. This cruise I spent a majority of my free time in the Explorer's Lounge or in the spa. I had spent so much time in the spa the first cruise, that I knew the times when it would get super busy. The first thing I did when I boarded the ship and got to my room, was to go straight to the spa. I had the entire place to myself as everyone was exhausted from traveling, or they were exploring the ship.

We're booked for the British Isles Explorer cruise this summer - 15 days from London to Bergen. It's our first Viking cruise and I can't express how much we're looking forward to it (our only other cruise was on Royal C more than 18 years ago). While we enjoyed our previous cruise a lot, everything we've learned about the Viking experience appeals to us more - the lack of glitz, casinos and photographers, the informative excursions, the all-inclusive pricing. It's going to be a fabulous vacation!

You do not to book the afternoon tea. Just show up at the Wintergarden at 4:00 pm and enjoy. We did this on several days on our latest Viking ocean cruise.

Yes! It’s so lovely 🥰 🫖 Just show up, there were plenty of open seats most afternoons.

I thought the thermal suite is free; you only have to pay for the spa treatments of your choice.

How much are the spa treatments approximately? Heading to the Wonders of China Cruise come late October, so I'm trying to gather all the info available, since this is a new route.

The cheapest is the Swedish massage, $139. Here’s the list: boards.cruisecritic.com.au/topic/2879645-salon-services/

I've been on a river cruise but would like to expand my travels to some of the places visited by cruise ships. I enjoyed your tour and description of the Viking ship. Just curious about the motion of the ship. My probable travel partner is prone to motion sickness. Do you think she would have a problem? Are most of the waters you've traveled relatively calm?

We could feel some motion at night and while pulling into the ports. Not enough to move anything around or make you feel wobbly. Some people said it was hard to sleep with the motion, so it depends on the person. The Mediterranean is pretty smooth though.

They have state of the art stabilization systems, but there's not much you can do with really rough seas. You can't really control or predict what Mother Nature wants to do. I had some rough seas where I last went, but that area is known for some rough seas.

Before we stick our necks out too far, we are going to try the Viking Polaris in May on the Great Lakes. Figured we could get off the boat and get home from any of the stops easily if it wasn't a fit for us.
