- We are just three weeks away from market starting and the work is piling up! Jose and I are continuing to work on the hoop houses. We need to get them up so we can get our next round of planting in the ground.
The wind continues to make life difficult on the farm. No plastic can go up until we get a calm day. Hopefully soon!
Chicks are about to hatch out soon. Jose and I candle the eggs and realize we may have let a few too many freeze in the garage. Ooops. Looks like we are going to have to put more in the incubator.

Hola Farmsteaders! We are Mac and Jose and we operate a 20 acre market farm and homestead in the beautiful upper peninsula of Michigan. We have 1 acre of mixed vegetable production, 1/2 acre orchard, laying ducks and chickens, as well as meat chickens and rabbits. Our channel is a weekly blog that shares with you what we are doing here on the farmstead and what we are doing here in the Upper Peninsula! We love this life and sharing it with you!
very educational watching your videos. I go to our local farmers market but your videos help me appreciate all the behind the scenes work that's done
Thank you. Lots of passion goes into growing food. Thanks for your support!
Now I know why people say, I get tired just watching you, lol
Yup...we get tired too! 😁
Inspiring. Thank you for sharing. So true. It’s ok sometimes to be cold. Sometimes wet. But not cold and wet. With most of us who are NEVER bored. There’s always going to be other things to do. Weather sometimes forces us to address those as well. Continued positive vibes from over here. Still only 42° high. 😊
Lol. I don't like being cold but sometimes farming demands it. Stay warm!
It is a good soaker down 44°N today😊Look up the Michigan Drought map...it has been very dry...SW UP is really dry Best to you both for a successful farming year🫠🩷
Thank you. Yes we need the rain. It slow us down but we love it!
