@Quadrider22444234 Most ATVs have an electronic rev limiter when the transmission is shifted into reverse. The override button simply overrides that limiter and allows for more power when backing up.
Sounds a little high, but It all depends on the condition of the machine - how it was cared for, was it stored in a garage, and how hard was it ridden....and by whom?
@cbk982 You're welcome. We really love the 450 and in the 'old days' that was a 'big' machine that worked just fine for hard work. The only thing you'd have to do is put on a set of better tires for the snow - radials like the ITP Terra Cross or Mudlite XTR or the STI Black Diamonds.
Uphill or downhill? According to the speedometer or actual? On dirt or on pavement? With new tires or worn? With a big guy riding or a small guy? At sea level or at what altitude? Or should we just say that top speed is such a variable that it is not a figure worth trying to verify?
@Quadrider22444234 Not only reverse. The rev limiter also engages when you have the front diff locked. The override give you full power back in both cases: diff locked or reverse.
I have an '05 arctic cat 400.....is that a 500 chassis with a 400 motor? If so, that may explain why most of the weight is towards the rear and why the front end likes to lift when climbing hills with rocks and tree roots.
I am thinking about getting a 2012 griz. will the parking rake and the rear wet brake hold up to pretty egresave trail ridin and parking on steep spots?
damn that was a nice Atv... i really want one, but i dont exactly have the cash saved up for one... if im going to get ANY atv, its going to be the grizzly for simple trailing, ditches and a little farm mud.
how high and where is the stock snorkle at. i have a 03 rancher 350 and i like that it has stock 34 inch high snorkle. iv been up to the seat in water.
@jdracer212 I recommend the Grizzly 450, especially the new 2011 model with it's improvements. Even more so since the Sportsman 400HO was changed for 2011, because it now has the same chassis as the 500HO. So the Sportsman 400HO is now physically bigger and heavier, while the Grizzly 450 is now LIGHTER that last yer, and still the same compact size. Plus the Grizzly 450 can now be had with power steering. And like ATVTVCOM said, the Grizzly is the more reliable machine.
Hello, thank you for putting up all these videos, they've helped me a lot.. im a teenager, and In the northern place i live it snows quite a bit and im looking to buy a grizzly, I figured a 700 would make best with plowing but do you think that quad would be to "big" for me, in a sense? would you recomend a 700 for a 125 pound person? A 450 sounds more managable to me but i feel like id lose the work advantage.
who cares about miles/kilometers i own a 2008 yamaha kodiak/grizzly 450 and it has 16,000 kilometers on it (yes im canadian) and ALL i did to it was replace the diff seals!!!!

There is a taillight that is on when the lights are on and a brake light that comes on when the brakes are applied.
Another great review. I'm new to ATV's and have found your reviews very helpful as I decide on my first. Thanks and keep it up.

I had mine going 55 on slight decline(on pavement) with unworn tires,and 255 pounds of rider.
@zippypinhead11 Is that the only two choices? Why not look at the King 400 versus the Rancher? Or step up and compare the Griz 550 to the King 500?
@TheHame110 Both are great. You can't go wrong with either one!
@Quadrider22444234 Not only reverse. The rev limiter also engages when you have the front diff locked. The override give you full power back in both cases: diff locked or reverse.
on the 2007 gizzly 450 how much miles in one tank not counting reserve?
I think it's right under the bars at the front of the tank area.

so what does the override do again? is it like polaris' s deal for making the reverse faster or what
We are working on it !
don't ask how fast ask does it keep up or outpace
is there any diffence apart from the power to the 450 and 350 grizzly
For the tail light does it light up when you dont hit the brakes or is it completely off when its just idling please respond?
See your local dealer for the price in your area.
what would you recomend between the polaris sportsman 400 or the grizzly 450
damn that was a nice Atv... i really want one, but i dont exactly have the cash saved up for one... if im going to get ANY atv, its going to be the grizzly for simple trailing, ditches and a little farm mud.
I'm guessing it would be a toss-up. They both have proven very reliable.

@cbk982 Yes.
Watch the tests. I like two brakes, a complete 4wd system, engine braking that goes to all 4 wheels, 4wd that works in reverse, reliability.....
is this a good deal?
2007 Grizzly 450 w/ seat 198 hrs.
$3200
@tennessee226 Yes....
do you prefer this over the 07 sportsman 500 and why.
@mrlonely199 We don't?
wich one would u reccomend: 2009 Grizzly 450 with 2300km on it or new brute force 300, both for same price
Tough question. The Griz has 4wd! But it would very much depend on the condition of the Grizzly
i was considering between the honda 420 efi and a 450 grizzly. Which would you suggest to be a better, reliable bike?
@ATVTVCOM Ok, thank you. Ill take that into consideration
I thought the grizzly 450 was rated to tow 1300 something? or is that for 2011/2012?
how fast have you gotten it to go?
@cdouglas105530 I would 'think' so but that's pretty cold.
Please review the new grizzly 300! I heard its an excellent value for money for its class!
ok how bout 52 on flat ground but i'd say 50ish considerin the variables as mentioned above
@FATMIKED5183 and is that Mph, or Km/h?
Sorry. No idea.

i have an 05 kodiak 450 (same thing) and love it. i just have aftermarket tires (swamp witches)
@WKHalford All great points!
which one will last longer the king quad 450 or grizzly 450 every one has said that suzuki has alot better quality than yahama
HArd to say really - depends on condition....
I like the stock tires almost like vampires not bad for OEM tires really!
Certainly.
Why don't you guys ever do a ATV Test in the forest?
@ATVTVCOM The only quads I've watched have been in the desert.
It'll crawl along if that's what you mean.
@ATVTVCOM Oh, ok. thank you
As far as I can remember...
Would it be a good deal:
2007 Grizzly 450
3600miles
for 3700.-
who cares about miles/kilometers
i own a 2008 yamaha kodiak/grizzly 450
and it has 16,000 kilometers on it (yes im canadian)
and ALL i did to it was replace the diff seals!!!!
@jdracer212 The Sportsman is more comfortable. The Grizzly will be a more reliable and capable machine.
haw fast?
Most of the ones I've watched have all been in the desert.
not all that fast well my friend got his going 62 i find that pretty fast
so the grizzly 450
@barongerardo123 na
The stock may not be that bad....but they also aren't that good ;-) Kinda like pizza.
