- We are honored to present Martin Sexton performing his iconic tune, “Glory Bound,” in a 1990 Volkswagen Syncro Westfalia. Martin Sexton has been performing in his inimitable style for decades, and he’s no stranger to the VW community-he used to drive across the country in his VW Bus. He received the National Academy of Songwriters Artist of the Year Award in 1994, and his discography is enviable. GoWesty has long revered Martin Sexton as quintessential road-tripping music, so we were over the moon to shoot this Westy Session. If you have the opportunity to see him perform live, don’t miss out!

I was in my early 20's when I discovered this amazing man. In my 40's now and still blown away.
SAME
He's a one of a kind. Seen him live over 10 times. Whenever I'm having a hard time in life, I listen to his music. Love you Marty!
SAME
I’m at least 700 of these views.
Same here :D
Saw him when I was young in the 90s and have been a fan ever since. He is one of the few hidden gems in the musical universe
One of my favs. Played this song many times. I loved going to see him live with my old dear friend John. Brings me back to more innocent times. Now listening from Ireland. Sure do miss America. This makes me very home sick. x
You know its a great song when you can listen to it over and over.
Playing it for the second time in a row right now… nice comment
Someone performed this song at my high school in’99 and I knew I had just heard something special. Tonight, I read the words “home bound” and something went off in my head. I thought, “that amazing song I heard in high school! But it’s not ‘home bound.’ What is it?!” After a frustrating few minutes of the song title on the tip of my brain, the cathartic moment came when the words “glory bound” were unearthed in my mind. After so many years of not hearing this song, I’m finally reunited with it! Thank you Martin Sexton for this song
Hey Martin, you better check that check engine light! Or you’ll be garage bound! 😮
P.S come back to 🇨🇦
The best voice I have ever heard, we love you Marty!
I'm not even into Westies. But these videos make me want to get one. Thank Martin for taking us back. This made my Friday!
Seeing him, once again, in Red Bank, NJ. April, 21st, 2024. Can't wait.
Had a V.W. too. This song just resonates with me. Thanks Martin.
So good
The clarity he has when he sings in falsetto is incredible
Martin Sexton reminds me of a less fun Jack Black.
One of the best songs of all time
A huge inspiration to me! I've seen him in concert three times in the last year and it's always a fresh experience!
This song, this vid, and you, Martin, are hecking amazing....I can't even begin to describe how much you/your music mean to me

Absurd level of talent here. Having met and observed Martin, I'll attest that the talent is utterly authentic.
An amazing talent...so great!
thank you Martin you have been in my life now for about 6 years just want to say much appreciated keep it up man!
Classic by him.
This is so great.
I've seen him in Maine (at LL Bean believe it or not), in Boston at (I can't remember the name of the place but I remember he played sugarcoating and I loved it because it called out the bs in the media), but the first time was at the Fillmore in San Francisco and that show is embedded in my head forever. That's when he told us he picked up the falsetto from listening to Tears for Fears. A friend turned me on to The American about a year before that and I didn't listen to anything else for about 3 months. Maybe 4 months. I guess I finally listened to something else when I picked up Wonder Bar. I listened to that for quite a while, too. He's a great artist and an inspiration.
Anyone know what guitar he’s playing? I can tell it’s a Taylor? But what model?
Love for what music love peace respect harmony and wisdom from the universe mother Earth so grateful for hearing
Saw him in a church basement i Rochester 20 years ago. I was blown away then and still listen today.
This song! One of the most amazing singers/song writers ever.
One of the best to ever do it
It kinda bothers me he’s not far more well known yet I’m glad to be in the club 😁
Superb !
I have front row seats tomorrow BIGSMILE
Hey Route 20 is glorious. Goes all the way out west, so, when you feel stuck in Central NY...Marty you sound incredible. Bless you.
Change your fuel lines, Martin.
This man is a unique gem in a world of sameness.
Master of his craft. Amazing to listen and also to watch him play.
🔥
What kind of a name is Martin Sexton?
This is top. Love it
He has still got it. He deserves more recognition than he gets.
what a great singer!
The only thing as good as his voice is his guitar playing
That was cool...Martin/Guitar.
I love that man right there
Love it
Love this!
One of my favorite artists of all time

Honest
Just found this song yesterday and 😳 dude, your amazing! I’ve listened on repeat ever since that first play… literally have listened now over 100 times
This hits hard like Amos Lee’s “violin”
Only person I've seen live that could sing like Marty was Jeff Buckley...I feel blessed to have seen them both and witnessed their magic.
❤
It's so nice to watch this because I've listened to this wonderful musician since,I believe about 99'or so. I was so excited to see him at Bonnaroo 2010. I'm not sure if he was having a bad night, but he seemed so pissed off and dismissive of his audience. I didn't listen to him for a long time. I appreciate his open heart in this video.
My son's Uncle in law just turned me on to this man, says I should listen to him. Only one word for now,... Wow!
The sound of the sliding door at the end. If you’ve had a Westy, that sound puts you right there in it.
It truly is in the journey, we see there is no destination ~ Marty taught me that. 🙏❤
Great performance. Love this song.
Extraordinary talent. One of a kind.
One of the great songs of our time
His range has always amazed me...
Such a good song
Beautiful!
So cool.
HELL YES
♥️
I guess this is what people listen too when they old.
I'm 22, one of my favorite songs lol
First heard it when I was 23, and I fell it love.
Or when they have exquisite taste in music and autotune-less talent.
It’s what you listen to when you appreciate great singing/songwriting and guitar self-accompaniment.
I absolutely fucking love this song.
