I can’t say it enough. Cillian Murphy and Annabelle Wallis breathed life into the characters of Thomas and Grace like only them two can do!! PERFECT casting.

Something about their relationship just feels so cathartic. That line "you've seen me" pierced through my heart, the amount of vulnerability in that very scene was breathtaking. Grace's death was truly devastating but it was a necessary push to Tommy's character development.

She was killed off way too soon. Also, they didn't mention her or give any credit in the last season, which was very disappointing. Completely agree that they were one of the best romantic couple I've seen on screen.

I recently watched season one again, and it's obvious the change of Tommy's personality. He used to smile in almost every scene, and his relationship with his family was also very different. They were so much closer compared to now, more happier. I miss those seasons, and every chance I get, I watched again and again

I don't know why people have so little love for Tommy & Grace but I'm so into their story. From the moment he first saw her (that intense stare he had for her) to those moments when she made him smile, no other women after that could come close to her and the effect she had on Tommy.
Grace was the only woman Tommy loved. I know he cared about Greta Jurossi (his first real girlfriend before WWI), but their relationship was very short lived. Then he was with Lizzy. Tommy never loved Lizzie, he just cared about her, that's all. But the only woman Tommy REALLY loved was Grace. She was the only woman who made him truly happy.

They do that on pretty much all dramatic tv shows/movies. I remember watching an interview with the creator of Downton Abbey saying that the characters aren’t allowed to be happy or there wouldn’t be a point to it. I’m forced to notice it in everything I watch now lol if the main character falls in love, most likely their love interest will be killed.
It’s crazy. There was never another like Grace for Tommy. Lizzie was there for him, and wanted to make him love her but she couldn’t quiet the noise in his head like Grace did. It’s a beautiful and heart breaking story.

I didn't really like Grace, but seeing Tommy fall in love and be happy was so nice... Edit: Since I had to explain it a lot... No, I am not jealous, I don't get jealous of or over fictional characters. I didn't like Grace because she was whiney and her personality was like unbuttered toast. I liked May Carlton and Lizzie but I didn't mention them since their relationship with Tommy wasn't really that close to what he had with Grace.
I just realized that I've never seen Thomas smiles like this throughout the entire series combined without Grace. Plus the backhugs, the sweetness, affirmations, and calmness of Tommy. Wow his wife was literally his GRACE.

The love story of Tommy and Grace has remained indelible in my heart. When they shot her I hoped until the last that she could be saved. Throughout the series we understand how Grace was the only woman to be truly loved by Tommy. You see many other women in the TV series like Lizzie, May, Greta, the Russian girl whose name I don't remember but every time, when he was with them, he imagined he was with his beloved Grace. The only one to have made him smile, the only one to have made his heart beat. Tommy is definitely not the same after Grace's death. His early death broke my heart, they are my absolute favorite couple in the world of cinema
it especially speaks volumes with the fact that in s6 there’s still portraits of her up in his house, even after a child and marriage with lizzie. and by s6 it’s been 10yrs since her death which is hard to wrap my head around bc for him it’s been a decade with out her. also in the final scenes in s6 her photo was the only one in a gold frame and the rest were in a dark unoticeable frame, which speaks volumes of her importance to him, not to mention he had their wedding ring on a chain around his neck. i do think tommy deserves happiness and we all know that grace is irreplaceable, but it will be a hard pill to swallow when a new love interest similar to grace in a sense, gets introduced in the film, bc i do think that unfortunately that will happen and he will find someone that he can fall in love with. i just hope that it doesn’t completely disregard all his love and pain he felt for grace bc that would be a huge blow for all the grief and heartache that was portrayed in the show.

I think they meant to make her death "undramatic" bc it is more real Like he lost her in a blink of an eye and then fell into despair and a lot of grief is suffered alone and privately but we can still see how deeply it affected him throughout the show

Thomas and Grace were sooo perfect in every possible way. Tommy really did start healing when he fell in love with Grace. He became romantic and sensitive. And although I usually don't like sex scenes, the one in season 1 just showed Tommys change. He was so careful with her, I just wished we could have seen more of Tommy being sweet to Grace in S1&2.
There was something so nice about tommy falling for grace in season 1 when he least expected it. But it was so painful seeing that the only person that made him vulnerable left and took a bullet meant for him.
It’s so awesome , like, we didn’t have a lot of scene w Tommy and Grace, but, what we did have, was enough to make us fall for them, enough to feel the power of their love. It’s at the same time incredible and so sad.
There for a small moment when he dances with Grace, he is a young boy again, really free.. One of the beautiful scenes with Grace. Among all that's awesome about this show, one thing is it's easy to see why they both fall for the other Such tragedy
I just started Peaky Blinders last Thursday and finished it Monday lol, binged watch! Grace and Tommy is the sweetest and yet one of the most saddest things ever. Knowing it's a show and the writer stated Tommy isn't meant to be happy, helps a bit, but it's still sad.❤

2:27 is one of my favorite scenes throughout the series. there is a certain horror in tommy's voice that you never heard before that moment and then hear few times after her death. such a horror of having someone go against what you say and to have them do it out of love - realizing the lengths they'd go for you. it's no wonder he never allowed people close to him or to allow himself to feel so deeply to the fullest.
She broke all of our hearts. Well actually. The writers did. This is the first TV show that killed somebody off like this where it didn’t feel like a cheap plot device because they were out of ideas.

Being honest, nobody understands Tommy's lifestyle; if anything some are more subjugated than others so their restraint is less. Lizzie is (obviously) more dependant than others and therefore she doesn't make a big deal about Thomas shady deals but on season 5 we see her not being happy at all and writing stupid letters trying to change his mind. The whole argument of Grace being the only one opposed to Thomas bussiness is complete garbage. There's 2 things we can critizice from Grace: 1- sometimes she acted like a bitch ( with aunt Polly on s3 and with May on s2) (but NEVER with Thomas) 2- She betrayed him (but also saved him twice).

I’m glad to find more people who thinks that the script moved forward too fast between Season 2 and S3, just to kill her so dreadfully soon. Considering the progression of Tommy and Grace story, they as characters and we as audience deserved to live and know more on how they started consolidating their relationship… how she ends her previous marriage, the moment the baby was born and its significance for Tommy who always regretted not having kids, the happy moment when they moved together…. All this in the same detailed/delicate/intelligent/emotive light we were told in S1 and S2. For all these reasons, I sincerely believe that killing Grace too soon was a bad script decision. If Tommy meant to be a broken and lonely character, at least they could have made the reunion moment more difficult along the seasons until he’s reaching his tragical fate. That definitively could have added more tension and attraction to the plot. An insurmountable pain 💔 Thanks for the great edition, the good choice of the songs and the inclusion of not so commonly seen here scenes of their storyline. Well done!

What I love about their story was that it was so complicated and filled with challenges and so real within all the chaos, but they found each other. Grace was the only woman Tommy loved. I know he cared about Greta Jurossi (his first real girlfriend before WWI), but their relationship was very short lived. Then he was with Lizzy. Tommy never loved Lizzie, he just cared about her, that's all. But the only woman Tommy REALLY loved was Grace. She was the only woman who made him truly happy.

They do that on pretty much all dramatic tv shows/movies. I remember watching an interview with the creator of Downton Abbey saying that the characters aren’t allowed to be happy or there wouldn’t be a point to it. I’m forced to notice it in everything I watch now lol if the main character falls in love, most likely their love interest will be killed.

It’s crazy. There was never another like Grace for Tommy. Lizzie was there for him, and wanted to make him love her but she couldn’t quiet the noise in his head like Grace did. It’s a beautiful and heart breaking story.

I didn't like Grace because she was whiney and her personality was like unbuttered toast. I liked May Carlton and Lizzie but I didn't mention them since their relationship with Tommy wasn't really that close to what he had with Grace.

The love story of Tommy and Grace has remained indelible in my heart. When they shot her I hoped until the last that she could be saved. Throughout the series we understand how Grace was the only woman to be truly loved by Tommy. You see many other women in the TV series like Lizzie, May, Greta, the Russian girl whose name I don't remember but every time, when he was with them, he imagined he was with his beloved Grace. The only one to have made him smile, the only one to have made his heart beat. Tommy is definitely not the same after Grace's death. His early death broke my heart, they are my absolute favorite couple in the world of cinema
it especially speaks volumes with the fact that in s6 there’s still portraits of her up in his house, even after a child and marriage with lizzie. and by s6 it’s been 10yrs since her death which is hard to wrap my head around bc for him it’s been a decade with out her. also in the final scenes in s6 her photo was the only one in a gold frame and the rest were in a dark unoticeable frame, which speaks volumes of her importance to him, not to mention he had their wedding ring on a chain around his neck. i do think tommy deserves happiness and we all know that grace is irreplaceable, but it will be a hard pill to swallow when a new love interest similar to grace in a sense, gets introduced in the film, bc i do think that unfortunately that will happen and he will find someone that he can fall in love with. i just hope that it doesn’t completely disregard all his love and pain he felt for grace bc that would be a huge blow for all the grief and heartache that was portrayed in the show.

I don't know, but seeing a man like Thomas being happy for just a woman changed my mind about love. When Grace died, I really didn't watch for 3 weeks until I know that I was in mourning ...
Thomas and Grace were sooo perfect in every possible way. Tommy really did start healing when he fell in love with Grace. He became romantic and sensitive. And although I usually don't like sex scenes, the one in season 1 just showed Tommys change. He was so careful with her, I just wished we could have seen more of Tommy being sweet to Grace in S1&2.
Even a broken one can be loved, healed, forgiven.

There was something so nice about tommy falling for grace in season 1 when he least expected it. But it was so painful seeing that the only person that made him vulnerable left and took a bullet meant for him.
It’s so awesome , like, we didn’t have a lot of scene w Tommy and Grace, but, what we did have, was enough to make us fall for them, enough to feel the power of their love. It’s at the same time incredible and so sad.

I just started Peaky Blinders last Thursday and finished it Monday lol, binged watch! Grace and Tommy is the sweetest and yet one of the most saddest things ever. Knowing it's a show and the writer stated Tommy isn't meant to be happy, helps a bit, but it's still sad.❤

2:27 is one of my favorite scenes throughout the series. there is a certain horror in tommy's voice that you never heard before that moment and then hear few times after her death. such a horror of having someone go against what you say and to have them do it out of love - realizing the lengths they'd go for you. it's no wonder he never allowed people close to him or to allow himself to feel so deeply to the fullest.

Well...sorry, but I think if we are gonna blame anyone for this, it would be John. He's the one who didn't stop and acted irrationally. He was being stupid over Lizzie. Grace got caught in the crossfire, unfortunately.
Don't get me wrong. I don't like Lizzie either. I can't stand women who have no identity outside of their love interest. Lizzie got raped because of Tommy and lost her boyfriend because of Tommy and she's still somehow in love with him? Plus all the whining after marriage despite having achieved nothing on her own? I agree with you in everything except the part when u blame Lizzie, it was all Johns fault he was the one who acted careless and inmature he insulted that italian and Tommy agreed to set the war with those ppl.
Being honest, nobody understands Tommy's lifestyle; if anything some are more subjugated than others so their restraint is less.
Lizzie is (obviously) more dependant than others and therefore she doesn't make a big deal about Thomas shady deals but on season 5 we see her not being happy at all and writing stupid letters trying to change his mind.
The whole argument of Grace being the only one opposed to Thomas bussiness is complete garbage.
There's 2 things we can critizice from Grace:
1- sometimes she acted like a bitch ( with aunt Polly on s3 and with May on s2) (but NEVER with Thomas)
2- She betrayed him (but also saved him twice).

I’m glad to find more people who thinks that the script moved forward too fast between Season 2 and S3, just to kill her so dreadfully soon. Considering the progression of Tommy and Grace story, they as characters and we as audience deserved to live and know more on how they started consolidating their relationship… how she ends her previous marriage, the moment the baby was born and its significance for Tommy who always regretted not having kids, the happy moment when they moved together…. All this in the same detailed/delicate/intelligent/emotive light we were told in S1 and S2. For all these reasons, I sincerely believe that killing Grace too soon was a bad script decision. If Tommy meant to be a broken and lonely character, at least they could have made the reunion moment more difficult along the seasons until he’s reaching his tragical fate. That definitively could have added more tension and attraction to the plot. An insurmountable pain 💔

What I love about their story was that it was so complicated and filled with challenges and so real within all the chaos, but they found each other.
