She's a breath of fresh air in the entertainment world of 2015. No pretense, no gimmicks. I get the sense that she is fueled solely by the love of the art. if we only we had more music like this charting here in the US...
I agree. The problem with the industry today is that artists can't make money with less than platinum sales and radio carrying you. In the end, you want to do this because you love it, but if you can't make money, it makes it difficult to live which, in turns, stifles creativity that lead to the kind of music that she makes. Established artists like her and those who've been around for decades don't have this problem, but new and up an coming musicians and composers simply can't get by without radio/tv assistance. Sad really.
I love that she said Orinoco Flow and Watermark as being her favorites, for that is how I discovered her music soooooo long ago! I had taken a break from her music because it didn't seem to have what her first two did, but I gave the new one a try on a whim, and WOW, I was blown away! Nearly every song is amazing, and right up there with Watermark and Shepherd Moons.
We all did, it was impossible not to like. And then she did a cool job for Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings too. Her music is so cool and she is a role model as a female artist for me. So is Kate Bush ❤

Enya is in my play list everyday. Sheppards Moon was the introduction for me in high school. I guessed all the songs for the best song question. I am a Taurus been playing piano since I ws 3 by ear and was very influenced by my church and hearing the organ play every sunday. I have always had a connection with her songs and what they are about. Find my way is a beautiful song that reminded me of someone in my life that I helped through thick and thin but after my mom passing last year and receiving a large gift from her it was like she was able to give me my dreams to me from Heaven another shore and now and forever more. That is a beautiful song and is written from the heart. You are an angel to me and always will be. Your music has a very special meaning to it and I always connect with it. I love her music, but as a musician I've also learned a lot from her discussion videos involving recording individual tracks, methods, approach,production as well as the studio techs that she surrounds herself with. Enya's definitely the thinking individual's sort of musician, but it's also same for the masses who just love to listen to her music.
I love the way when Enya is interviewed promoting a new album she always says she'd love to tour and then disappears back to her castle and proceeds NOT to tour!😂. In fairness I think it's better she doesn't...trying to recreate the studio magic live may not be possible & would break the spell.
I never got why she never toured. She always talks about her privacy and that the music has nothing to do with fame. You can still tour, lead a private life without all the fame! But I agree - studio music is not the same as concert halls and trying to recreate the same music! Now that she’s in her sixties, I doubt she will ever do it!
