You can thank my team for why you didn’t make the Super Bowl that year…..the Jaguars. (Yes I know the Steelers took our place in the playoffs this year.)

Losing Shazier hurt immensely. When they got to the Playoffs, they overlooked the Jaguars, even though Jacksonville drubbed them 30-9 during the Season.
I'm pretty sure ben threw 5 picks in that game
@@Fireyninjadog Fournette gashed them both games as well.
@@Fireyninjadog had Big Ben considering retirement in the post game press conference
Shazier injury and AB injury vs the patriots along with the Jesse James catch that was ruled out.
In addition, they looked past Jacksonville and definitely would've lost to the Patriots again anyway
@@broadstreetbullies849 they beat the patriots the first time anyway without their best offensive and defensive player. They also wouldn’t have played Jacksonville had the Jesse James call gone the way they should’ve they would’ve played the titans who they beat by 20 in the regular season.
@@Blackgoldbluefootballtalk they did not beat the Patriots this year. Maybe in hell, but not here
@@broadstreetbullies849they beat the patriots. The NFL just had a hard on for the Patriots. Jesse James was a touchdown, and the NFL even went on to rip the Jaguars off too because who want to see the Jaguars in the Super Bowl? Myles Jack fumble recovery seals that game and the Pats would’ve lost
@@201LiLE201 by rule, that was not a catch. It was a stupid rule. But it's also the refs' fault that Ben threw into Triple coverage. And that the Jags allowed a 3rd and 18
The biggest thing that costs that team the Super Bowl was arrogance. The team has a hole that wasn't focused enough on winning games and getting to the Super Bowl. Le'Veon Bell was more interested in collecting the biggest contract that he could get. Antonio Brown was more interested in trying to win the MVP than winning games. And when the defense lost its later, Ryan Shazier The quality of the defense as a whole suffered.

Same thing as 07, they were looking past a team and fixating on the Patriots. Coincidentally, both times it was a scrappy Jaguars team.
Edit: 8:55 HUH, weird, that's not the week 5 game I remember. The Chiefs were in Week 6.

Jags were legit in 2017. It was bad coaching that led to their loss to the Pats in the championship game.
NGL i was hoping for an Super Pennsylvania Bowl between the Steelers and Eagles in 2017. They nearly made it happen in the 2001,2004 and 2008 seasons. Hopefully we get to see it one day

I was at that Patriots and Steelers game in 2017. I’ll never forget it till the day I die. Thankfully I’m a Patriots fan though
Several games like that Jesse James "catch "no catch" stole super bowl opportunities from us. Others would be juju fumbling would be winning touchdowns twice!! And coach Tomlin is the proverbial scapegoat for it all
As a steelers fan, let me say that watching pittsburgh is very frustrating, like watching the cleveland indians choke every year. They have talent, but every "win" doesn't feel like a victory. It just feels like the team avoided a loss. I can only remember 2 times pittsburgh truly dominated a team in the last 3 years: 2021 vs. the Browns, and 2023 vs. the bengals. Both at home, vs. underachieving teams. Mike tomlin is hailed as a great coach, but people forget he hasn't won a playoff game since 2016
People don’t forget that. Fans forget how to contextualize that. Pats were dominating that year, jags defense was looking all time great & Ben was a turnover machine. Tomlin has two AFC championships & has won consistently. Steelers are reeling from not developing a qb & letting Ben hang around past his prime. That’s just a critical mistake in our current NFL.
Underrated video you deserve more subs!
Shazier was probably a potential future hall of fame talent. It was sad to see his career end and nearly his ability to walk end. But, straight up, the man made that mistake that caused it. You don't lower your head in contact. You're taught that very early on in contact football. You do NOT lower your head. Lower your head you get dead is what the coaches always told me and that was as an o-lineman. While it can be jarring and painful regardless, having your head up won't allow your spine to compress the way it did for Shazier. Sad stuff.
Nothing I wanted more than to see my birds and the Steelers play in the bowl. The battle for pa would’ve been sick
You gotta do the 11-0 Steelers next man I feel like we all know the answer as how we fell apart but it needs a documentary
not only the 17 season but the entire franchise still has not recovered from the loss of 50, even with dpoy winner watt, having that DIFFERENCE MAKER in the middle to play sideline to sideline has been to much to overcome for this organization?!
Being a Patriots fan, I’ve always hated the Steelers, probably every bit as much as Steelers fans hate the Patriots. That said, 2017 was the o e year I was actually nervous that the Steelers might beat the Patriots. Say what you want t about the Jesse James play. I’ll forever say it was NOT a catch and the right call was made. And any Steeler fan would have wanted that call made that way if it was Gronk making the same play. But all that aside, that was the one year I thought “we might lose this game this year”. Even when the Steelers won in 2018, I still didn’t think that was a game the Patriots should have had any business losing. But at the end of that 2017 game I still thought that team had the ability to score anyway. Fortunately for me they didn’t.
Would have lost to the team of destiny that season had they made the bowl.

I remember most feeling like that team was a fraudulent 13 win team. Much like the Vikings a few seasons ago. They had a fairly easy schedule but had to rely on the offense to bail them out late because the defense couldn't hold a lead. And any team with a good RB would destroy them.
Fantastic video! Keep up the great production level
The greatest team that never made a Super Bowl was the 2004 steelers. 15-1, best defense in the nfl, the team that ended New england's 21-game winning streak. The week after the patriots game, the steelers crushed the 7-0 eagles 27-3. They had one of the best running games in football with jerome bettis and duce Staley. Rookie Ben roethlisberger was perfect as a starter, as pittsburgh won 15 straight during the season. The team had 9 pro bowlers and 6 all pros that year. 1 problem: New england wanted blood, and they crushed pittsburgh in the rematch, denying us of a Pennsylvania Super Bowl, just like...2008, and 2017
Just a side point, in the entire history of the Eagles and Steelers head to head games, the home team almost always wins. It doesn’t even matter what team is better, it still usually ends with the home team winning.

Even Pittsburgh beat NE in the 2017 regular season and somehow did make the afc title that year there's no NE would lose to them in the playoffs despite the afc title being in Pittsburgh.

Awesome vid man! Keep it up!
As a Jags fan I have the utmost respect for the Steelers organization but for some reason the Jags have always been a thorn in their side going back to those AFC Central days in the 90’s. When we drew the Steelers in the divisional round, everybody down here in Jax remembered 2007 and we just knew, against all odds, the Jags would upset them again. Big Ben got his revenge next season tho
While they look in decent shape now, the Steelers haven’t really recovered from that loss to the Jags
I would argue the loss to the Browns in 2020 was worse.
@@davidgalinat4257 yeah that was bad, but they weren’t really top contenders anymore in the post-Killer B’s era

2 words. The Boat.
The joy I had when he was a packer for .02 seconds a few years back was glorious
Oh man I remember this season. Such a painful ending!
What was the music from that you used during the opening clip montage?
It’s a song called “MVP” by “Panda Beats”
Jesse james cacth would have given us home field and a better chance. Dont let that defense full you though..... D line was great and linebackers could lay the would but the secondary couldn't cover especially the safties and same with the line backers which is why tight ends ate us alive that coupled with a bad run defense is really what killed us. D could get sacks and turnovers but they couldn't cover and couldn't stop the run
I mean a pro bowl qb, a top 7 maybe even 5 rb, the best wr in the league, one of the best rookies, some solid tight ends, 3 probowl o linemen, like this had to be one the most stacked offenses in steelers history
Defense couldn’t stop a nose bleed with a roll of paper towels. They let Fournette run and do whatever he wanted to do. Guy had I think 6 touchdowns and 300+ yards in the two games we play them reg/post season
That was totally criminal. That was our year.
Constant playing down to competition, looking past opponents, and the inability to beat New England
Short answer: Jesse James “catch”
Yeah that caused the D to get shredded by the Jags and Ben to throw multiple INT's. Can't beat Blake Bortles you don't deserve it.
@@jwsteelers1 wouldn’t have played the jags if Jesse James catch stood
@@deadpanduke19 Not my point. My point is if you can't beat Blake Bortles you have no right to complain about a bad call. Another flat playoff performance where the supposedly elite D got curb stomped. Points allowed in playoff elimination games since 2016: 36, 45, 48, 42, 31. Absolute vomit
And Tomlin still couldn’t get it done
This team if I remember right could barely beat sub par teams
💥💥They were good team but i could think of 20 plus teams that were far better than the 2017 Steelers that didn't win the super bowl.
Also maybe Jacksonville just had their number because Jacksonville played at Pittsburgh during the season and pounded the Steelers 30-9 in Pittsburgh🤷🏿♂️
I mean true. When coming up with the video idea there were just teams that stuck out to me in recent memory. 2018 Saints, 2011 Packers, or even the 2020 Steelers. Something about that 2017 always fascinated me because of what it led to in the following seasons with all of the drama.
But yeah, there were definitely better teams in the 2010s I could have gone for. But I'm happy with what I put out.

I think it was also a lack of leadership at the head coaching position. Mike Tomlin is a good coach don't get me wrong, the organization is lucky to have him. But just think about this for a moment: Do you think Bill Beilchick or Andy Reid would have failed to get to the Super Bowl with the 2017 Steelers.
I know it was a rhetorical question lol but it’s definitely a thought I had while making the video. I don’t think Tomlin is necessarily a bad coach, I just kind of think he handled the 2017-2018 Steelers…kinda the way he thought was best. Maybe in hindsight he would’ve handled it differently.
I can answer the question for you. During the playoffs, they scored less points than their opponent in one of the games. Hope this helps.
The drama and arrogance was their downfall. Ironically, if they don't get shafted in Week 15 against New England, they probably end up meeting them in the conference championship and losing
20:34 shout-out to UrinatingTree
Pittsburgh has been a competitive team in the last 2 decades, but that team in '17 got in it's own way when they faced the Jags. Opened their mouth too soon and then look what happened...
There is not a single Steelers fan who does not know the refs took that game from them. Yeah, and the team who announced the game also though they got screwed.
I can answer this question in 4 words… Sensenbaugh, Davis, Mitchell, Burns
One of the best teams to not make the Super Bowl? I remember this team as a really lucky team who did not deserve the 13-3 record they had. That team was playing down to their competition all season. Look at all those games where they won, and I'll give them credit for that, but close games vs. the Bengals, browns, texans, and packers when they are so much better than them were really noteworthy.
Pittsburgh Is Gunna Make Some Noise This Year, Tough Schedule Sure, But That's Gunna Show If Pittsburgh Can Hang With The Top Dogs, Especially Chiefs.
Really I think it depends on QB play. If Wilson is good, which I think he will be with a good run game helping him, things should be fine. He just takes a lot of sacks and that’s what would worry me if I were a Steelers fan
Jesse James Caught That Ball, and nobody, especially not a stupid Deflatriot fan will convince me otherwise.
Man, one of the hardest videos to watch ever.
Why’s that? I’m always down for constructive feedback
Ya..I seem repetitive..but his highlights look like 43
Top five offense, top 5 defense, and bottom 5 coach.
it's fun to remember that they were in the championship game the prior year bc they played a 7-9 dolphins team and vontaze burfict's mental defects
Not saying shazier was as good as polamalu..but shazier did for this team what Troy did fir his
They were chokers who were overly confident, and mike Tomlin's culture has done a bad job preparing them for the playoffs.
why... because we were cheated thats why 😂. Im sick thinking back bc this team was special

Long story short, tomlin didnt prepare us for the playoffs like always. Dudes gotta go
He's hard on the outside . Softie on the in.
This was a Mike Tomlin masterclass. Had so many good teams and with arguably his best team he had he lost at home to Blake Bortles . But he never had a losing season so he’s the goat! Lmao
We lost because we lost shazier… who was arguably the best in the league.. and the jags attacked that hole in the defense for 2 tds.. not to mention Ben didn’t have his best game.. but yes ofc.. blame tomlin
@tythakid2 If he was a real fan of the team, then he would know how important Ryan was to the defense, and how difficult it was to recover from his loss.
THE JAGS
Two words: no catch
Shazier got hurt, jesse james caught that ball, looking past jaguars.
Mike Tomlin. There I have the answer for you.
The 2017 Steelers were overrated. They played down to inferior competition every time they had the chance to, only to get bailed out by high end talent every time except for the Bears game. They gave the winless Browns hope both times they faced each other. They rarely put together complete performances. Yet they acted like they were the team to beat. They got what they deserved against Jacksonville.
Steelers Nation....but we got too cocky as a unit
The Jaguars were extremely physical, and if Ryan was there (healthy), then it would have been a different story.
Mike Tomlin. Boom.
Pretty simple tbh, mediocre mike & his love for kissing the stars a** & letting ben do whatever he wanted absolutely destroyed the locker room, couple that with awesome 1st rd picks & signings like jarvis & mitchell & there you have it
the referees of course! hahah
The Jaguars is why they didn’t make it.
And tbh as Duval fan. Pittsburgh we own, and they’ve always been SUPREMELY overrated. I mean I know they are the model of consistent mediocrity but even when we were at our worst I know we’d always beat the Steelers. They got lucky with the cardinals and cheated the Seahawks out of a ring. There best qb is a r****t who has never been held accountable….
