GoldDuck 20004 yeah that’s where I thought you HAD to get it though. After seeing this video I found out after killing Amelia patches takes over any window NPC locations to give you the Tonsil Stone.

I got mine from Gilbert after doing the Woods skip and I talked to the little girl(Gascoigne's daughter) and she was replaced with the Tonsil stone man talking about the Cathedral so I could get it from her technically

Trying arcane in this walkthrough, your videos really helped me a lot. Rushing to Nightmare Frontier and Cainhurst is probably better for pure arcane.
Just out of curiosity, could you also use the rosmarinus instead of the flamesprayer?
The problem of Rosmarinus is that you can only acquire it in late gate. But in late game, you mostly use Fire Saw Spear or Tools for damage, both the sprayer become a weapon for ending blow.
@@speedlee1243 neat. I have been building my character as a hybrid build with strength because I like the holy moonlight blade and like to damage things with arcane because it is a pretty useful damage type. I figured that I might pick up the rosmarinus because I have it.

getting 99 arcane is the easy part , its the mind numbing trek through chalice dungeons for perfect gems that will drive you insane.

@@amr.c1650 oh it not worth it. on the other hand its something to chase for during endgame, that and it gives you that little bit of extra punch on the play throughs on later NG+ games.
If you do false depths, you only need to do Phumeru 1, part of False Loran 4 for bastards of loran, and False Isz. Then you can make FRC 5's normally. Do two Pthumerian Elder and your choice of Watchers/Watchdog/Loran DB/Abhorrent DB and you've got a maxed weapon; might take a few tries to get max primary and an acceptable curse, but cloud saves help there. No one really needs maxed secondaries.
@Mk. 5 look them up. They're either depth 5 chalices that drop depth 1 blood stones but depth 5 gems or depth 1 difficulty that drop depth 5 stones.
Basically they're save edited dungeons, so you can skip half of the story dungeons.

I have a question. Do you stop upgrading your flamesprayer after +6 and upgrade spear instead, or do you keep upgrading the sprayer?
It's less important once you have Fire melee, but I still spend spared materials on it
• Rune that increases Silver Bullets.
• Rune that grants 2 Silver Bullets on Visceral.
• Rune that rises Drop Rate so enemies drop more Blood Vials.
Technically you will have infinite Silver Bullets and Blood Vials to change into SB.
Well, if you wanna overlevel, sure. If you want to stay at bl 120 at least two slots should be occupied by the two health runes.
I had no idea you could stagger enemies from behind with Augur of Ebrietas.

@@speedlee1243 good to know. I've got the great sword I've been using. Me and my buddy have been having the worst time on new game plus 2's First Vicar and Orphan of Kos. They keep one shotting us when we get them down to a third or a tenth of their health.
@@speedlee1243 It worked. You gotta get right up in the Orphan's space for the tentacles to stagger him, but they work. Me and my buddy killed him and later we killed the first Vicar. Got all three endings finally. On to Dark Souls Remastered.

I missed cainhurst entirely in my first playthrough, following the full version of this for arcane build, but I came back to the short version, hoping it would make more since now that I've gotten through some of it.

Konaruhi well you probably know by now but the tiny tonitrus and tonitrus are not at all the same. The tonitrus is a weapon like his saw spear that has a constant arcane buff. The tiny tonitrus is a tool like the hentai noodle. It calls lightning down from the sky in a line. Not at all like tonitrus. Completely different things ones a tool one is a weapon.

Fire is more effective against beast enemies, bolt is more effective against cosmic enemies, I believe
Fire is more versatile

Dungeons are basically linear optional contents that leads to good gems in the end; no dungeon = no top tier gems

How high do you upgrade your Flamesprayer? Do you take it all the way to +10? Is its damage at +10 worth the Blood Rock by the time you can actually get it?
Upgrade melee first. I upgraded it to +8, my first rock was used on melee, and I didn't upgrade it further until I had spared chunks and rocks.
Amazing build, kill Ludwig like he was nothing. Saw spear +10 with this build, melt everything.

Is there a similar success rate with other weapons? Are you using the saw spear for the slots + bonus beast damage?
Going to do this run soon, but I haven't used the church pick or the saif, so I'd rather use those (which seems highly likely).

So I have to ask, how do you farm for gems if you don't have PSN+ subscription?
For late game gem farming, pretty much the same, except that you have to find the boss yourself. After finding it, you can back up save files using USB flash drive, and then start save scumming.
What weapons would you recommend as alternatives to Fire Saw Spear? Is the Tontirus a good choice?

If you are not playing online with others, you can just level up whatever you want; otherwise you better stay Level 120 for PVP, 150 for COOP

Hey so I am starting up my own arcane build rn and wanted to know what other skills do you upgrade with it
Check A6 in the description
Is leveling 20 skill instead of STR a waste of potential? Are STR weapons better for an arcane build than ABI weapons?
Check the chart in video description (A8). I don't see what makes you think STR weapons are better.
As for whether or not it's worth the SKL investment: There are 13 convertable weapons in the game, plus there are 3 usable hybrid weapons (which I do NOT recommended as main weapons: Holy Moonlight Sword for Lightwave Attacks, Logarius’ Wheel for slow but high damage per hit, and Tonitrus if you can tolerate the boring moveset) for 99 Arcane, and then you have Kos Parasite being pure Arcane by default, that's 17 usable weapons for 99 Arcane.
For people who are doing a 99 Arcane build, either it’s for BL 124 or 150, you don't have much points to use on STR/SKL.
If say you go for 10/20 STR/SKL for Rakuyo, you meet the requirement of 7 conversion weapons, but sadly you can't use any hybrid weapons.
On the other hand, with 16/14 STR/SKL, you can use 10 conversion weapons + 2 hybrid weapons.
If you look into those 17 weapons, you would see that, the second highest Skill requirement is 14. That means you have to invest 6 more points JUST for Rakuyo.
If you insist, go for it, but if you don't think it's worth it, then don't. It's all about personal preference.

Would the beasthunter saif be viable as your early fire weapon instead of the saw spear, as I just like the feel and moveset of the saif better plus it has the same gem slots as the saw spear

99 arcane build is really cool but it feels seriously limitating
First of all you need to real lvl 125 if you want to have the standard 40 vit and 99 arc but only if you put 100% of you points into arcane and vit, base endure, base str, base skill, base tinge
you can't use anything except the basic starting gear throughout the whole game
I prefer after trying it out, aiming for something like 80 or 90 arc to have a more diverse arsenal while also having more or less the same dmg, mostly because call beyond doesn't scale above 80, black sky eye and gloves do scale up to 99 but they are not the one shooting beasts like call beyond so I prefer losing 30 dmg per glove use but also having access to moonlight sword who will have at least 600 ar with less grind, instead of the shitty cane with not much more than 350 ar
HMS is really bad in R1 damage on a build lack of STR and SKL. And if you only use strong attacks, you deplete stamina quickly. The shitty cane will have better DPS than HMS, assuming you don't farm.
That was an amazingly quick response, I applaud you for your dedication...
And I would like to disagree, sure for r1 spam the cleaver dominates completely but for a duel having access to more strategies other than spam makes you far less predictable and harder to parry
And with a 90 arc build you can use the pizza cutter and Ludwig's blade
It may not be your style but pizza cutter and Ludwig's are both objectively a better weapons for the mayority of occasions, and since they are pure physical just like the rest the basic weapons you can use the exact same gems as the cane with twice the ar and three times the usability
Oh and also having access to +11 str gives you a really good response against a mirror match with the lake shield
But idk, my style is 90 arc instead of 99 simply because I hate r1 spamming, and using the same weapons all game...
But whatever we all know 50 bloodtinge 50 vit will always be the objectively best build just because of the stupid one shoting capabilities the chikage gives

@@Zerum69 You don't have to limit yourself to R1, small weapons do have R2 and L1 and the DPS is still decent.
As mentioned in the description, I do suggest to just go for BL 150 so that you can have more STR, you really don't have to explain how great other weapons are, I've demonstrated them in Ep 7. I don't bother to give suggestions about lowering ARC and going for STR, becaues seriously, do I really have to spoon-feed "you can in fact lower some ARC in order to stay at meta level"? I assume people will make their own decisions.
My point is, don't become one of those who tried HMS on a build lacks STR and SKL and then post a thread on reddit complaining about not having good R1 damage.
I see you praised HMS, although I do think it is a useable weapon even on this build, but it seems you overrated this weapon *simply because it has higher AR*.

Granted, these are different builds with best gems, but it's a similar scenario where HMS has much higher AR.
If you don't mind, I would like to compare the R1 damage on werewolf.
The HMS has 915 AR, deals 612 damage.
The Fire Saw Spear has 648 AR, deals 583 damage (the 1050 was due to the 1.2x serration bonus to beasts and 1.5x from the wolf's negative fire reduction)
The HMS has 41% more AR, but only deals 5% more damage. This is mainly due to how damage is calculated, a weapon with multiple damage types might have high AR, but its actual performance may not be as good as your imagination.
My point is not about "R1 spamming is efficient on fast weapons", it's more about this weapon has its own issues on 99 Arcane build (or a high arcane one with insufficient STR/SKL).
Just like I said, it's still viable if you use strong Attacks exclusively, just that stamina management would be important. What I don't agree is the "high AR proves that it's a better weapon", and the disrespect to starter weapons.
Lastly, you can check my playlist of gem farming. No matter what's your choices for Arcane build, the farm should be easy and short.
AR can be dubious in other ways too, given weapon multipliers. For example, Moonlight has fractional multipliers for its arcane damage on almost all of its melee attacks. This means that it isn't even applying its full Arcane AR to most of its attacks, esp. the light attacks, on top of being split-damage and thus being subject to damage reduction twice over.
@Zerum Unless you're trying to play in tournaments, you can go all the way to BL 142 and still invade BL 120 meta-builds. An extra 22 levels should be enough to fit in whatever a player wants. Likewise for Co-op. And solo play shouldn't be caring about BL limits except for challenge runs, and in that case the BL limit can be tailored to desired endgoal of the run (e.g. 50 VIT, 99 ARC, whatever else is desired for use).
I also disagree with your assessment of the viability of certain weapons in PvP (perhaps you were referring to PvE? Even then I'd disagree). Stuff like Saw Spear is top tier for its overall moveset, not just the power of its R1's. The sweeping tricked R1, quickstep attacks, and transform attacks are excellent, the R2 and dashing R1/R2 have good range, the dashing attacks chasedown well, and you'll always have an offhand available. Meanwhile, Chikage is far from top tier in PvP; BT is very good, but that's more from guns and Bloodletter. Chikage does massive damage, but it's predictable and has issues pressuring opponents. I actually find it's better on Arc-Tinge than pure BT since you can screen the transform attack attempt with tools/items.

After activating FW lamp I believe every NPC in game becomes Patches to give player that stone. Everything goes back to normal after that.
When I did my first arcane build I just did that YMFAH 10+ weapon before vicar Amelia
If did that, those who claimed that Arcane is not viable will say "Arcane is only viable with save edited"; and those who don't have PS+ will not be able to do it.
Speed Lee I didn’t do save edits I just exploited rare drops from chalice dungeons by fighting the same bosses again and again and again until they dropped the right blood stone.
@@znightowlz6585 So you didn't use glyph to unlock depth 5 right after doing the first dungeon? If you did, those are save-edited dungeons. Before you beat Amelia, you can't possibly go to depth 4 or 5 to farm rocks without such save-edited dungeons, because in order to reach depth 4, you need Bastard of Loran which can only be found in Loran, and Loran chalice can only be acquired after defeating main game Amygdala.

Press up on your d-pad, it’ll give you the 5 blood bullets then press triangle to heal back that bit of health it costs to make them.
It is like... 30% of max health.

Kinda late but as long as you're planning to not go pvp (120-ish) you can still put all your points into arc / vit. 150 is the level you should aim for if you're going for online coop. I don't think Old Yharnam is that far in the game that your build is already commited

1. You need a lot of points in Vitality and Arcane, thus in order to stay at meta level or COOP level, you have few or no points for STR/SKL. If I have used a weapon that someone cannot equip as the main weapon of this build, then people would have troubles. Saw Spear does not have actual stats requirement, because every origin can equip it without leveling up STR/SKL.
2. Serration in both forms, thus it always deal 20% more damage on beasts.
3. Can be acquire very early
4. Versatility. Its R1 is quick. The reach of L1 and Transformed R2 is useful. Transformed Charged R2 has follow up R2 combo that is capable of poise break most enemies

Saw Spear is the only weapon that has these advantages. Even if you only look at 1. and 2., it's still the only one.
Lastly
6. Even if I have my point, that doesn't mean everyone would agree with me some might think the advantaged I listed are not important. If I use other weapons, eventually there will be someone asking "I don't get it, of all the weapons why you use ___?", so apparently I should just pick something I like.
Ok I get it now. You have really accurate points. You can acquire saw spear with ease, it does have descent damage and since the main purpose of arcane build is well ... arcane it shouldn’t mater how much stats you have on strength and skill. Also love the video man!
Obviously wasn't part of Speed Lee's reasoning, but the Saw Spear is also one of the very best weapons in PvP, and Arcane can use it no issues since conversion makes it run entirely off Arcane. Saw Spear and Saif are very popular choices on Pure ARC PvP builds paired something more specialized like Kos Parasite.
