Shari, thank you so much for sharing your expertise with encaustic. I started watching your wax Wednesday’s since episode 1. This is so inspiring to see you evolving with the medium, building expertise over the time ! This episode is really going a step forward and deeply talks to me ! Can’t wait to discover the next episode !
I love the whole group you made in this demonstration! The best one is the first one you started with and its ending as trees around a home. Shari, because of your inspiration I explored, Gelli printing with graphite, stamping, masking and stencilling this weekend. I loved it. (And loved it a little more after applying some barrier cream to my hands! LOL) I experimented with the liquid pencil of Derivan as well as with Creatacolour's graphite powder mixed with linseed oil. I found the latter more effective to these techniques. Thank you so much for your teaching - it has a long term effect even a year after posting this video.
+Sarah sarah Hi Sarah! Ha ha completely understand the barrier cream ! Why is it that I always forget to put it on before diving into that graphite powder ? That sounds like a wonderful weekend ! Graphite is truly one of my favorite must haves. Have fun , and truly thank you so much :))
Very cool. This technique would be perfect for doing some X-rays related images. While watching this video I could think of many ideas for using graphite so ... muchos gracious. Hmmm... where did that come from? Oh right ... the music ! : )
***** Ha, Ha ,De Nada Stephen! I am glad it gave you some cool ideas. I was being a stickler here and just using the medium , and the graphite, and really enjoyed the contrast. But, the graphite is also great when mixed with a white oil paint as well and create a grey scale . Have fun!!!
DreamArtst Hi DreamArtst, Thank you! I use regular clay scraping tools for scraping back the encaustic wax. I pick up different sizes whenever I see them at the hobby store, art store etc.
