This was her most succesful song, it was number 3 in the top 40 oricon charts. Obviously, this was before the internet found about one of her least known songs "Plastic Love" and made it her biggest hit, years after her retirement, and 40 years after that song came out.
yeah it surprised me dearly lol. Plastic love is beloved and adored by the West so much, i would think that's her best song. Turn out this innocence, happy tune is the top chart and one of her best one.
it is her breakthrough song and one of the signature hits but not necessarily the most successful one. Single Again (2) and Camouflage (1) appears to hit bigger. Despite only reaching No. 5, Junai Rhapsody sold the most copies. Moreover, she is actually still active.
The pinned comment is erroneous in some ways. Takeuchi never retired, she simply like her husband doesn't show up in public much, and is lazy with updates. This song is also neither her best selling nor best known in Japan, although it very well could be on top 5 of both lists. Arguably her most successful song is Single Again or Junai Rhapsody. The most known songs are arguably "Genki o Dashite" and "Eki", both from the album "Request", as well as "Single Again", whereas "September" is a signature tune for radio in Japan in Autumn.
I remember back in 2021 I had many emotional distress due to my life going downhill and I started to listen to city pop. Thanks to Mariya I realized how much there is to live, I always listened to 80's music growing up, but this song helped me A LOT. Mariya will always keep a place in my heart for helping me get over the downs and ups of life.
This is literally her most famous song on Japan lol Meanwhile Plastic Love is the one who flopped the hardest there Personally i like September and Plastic Love more
I first heard this in about August or September of 2020 and absolutely dove head first into all of her music. Listening to this again now in January, 2022; I feel exactly how I felt when I first came across it. It is weird to say I already feel nostalgia when I listen to this music. In the summer of 2020, right before I started college alongside the pandemic; a time with a lot of uncertainty and doubt. Her songs and a bunch of others in this genre, I really connected with and it helped me out a lot. For that, I am eternally grateful for their music. I am aware this a bit much for UA-cam comments, but I felt the need to share as it was on my mind.
a couple years before plastic love blew up, I discovered maria's music because there was an idolmaster cover of this song! to this day it's still a favorite song of mine and I'm so glad it brought me to her music!

🤓☝️
Yume No Tsuzuki for me is her best song
She's not lazy with updates anymore. She's been posting a lot of new videos on her UA-cam channel.
Today I learned that Tatsuro Yamashita sings backing vocals on this! Makes it even cuter!!!
He does that with a lot of her songs. He's good, but sometimes I wish it was someone different in the background.
@@awesomepossum5745 that’s why I dig a lot of the early stuff, before Yamashita produced almost everything she did
Power couple

Love this song! I listened to it growing up. Memories!
Good reason that it was her most successful song back then. Very well written with memorable melodies and lyrics.
Just bought a bunch of random records and this one in it. I’m so excited!

Probably just me. I love this song
because this song is a banger
back to 2012❤
Man, RCA did just about EVERYTHING to get that dog known.

Some parts of this song remind me of the Mario galaxy theme, anyone else hear it?
How the fuck do you hear Mario Galaxy in it
@@elektrobros this is gonna be a hard one to explain but the first few notes…I swear I’m not crazy
Why does she sound like Zoe Deschanel? This sounds like it could have been a She & Him song lol
