Right on all counts. The soundtrack mesmerizes: "Love Letter" from Ketty Lester and "In Dreams" from Roy Orbison. Atmospheric music is what Lynch is all about.
theres no movie like this one...its wonderful...sick too...anyhow...rest in peace Dennis Hopper great actor...and happy birthday ...Roy orbison- a classic "In Dreams" ...music will live on-
So sad to see this legend pass from our plane of existence. Rest in Peace forever Dennis, and thanks so much for giving us a lifetime for incredible characters like Frank Booth!
an awesome movie and this are two of the best scenes in the movie. Dennis Hopper rules! is the best character in the film and his saying is great. Now its dark...
The gal with the pink mini-skirt dancing on top of the car is no doubt hilarious! Then the dude singing into an old utility light! Wow...this shit can only happen in the amazingly bizzare world of David Lynch!! Awesome.
One analysis I listened to stated that this entire movie is actually a daydream that Jeffrey is having in his yard. It goes in the ear in the beginning of the movie and once the dream ends, the camera comes out of Jeffrey's other ear while he's laying down on a lawn chair. In the analysis it is said that sandy is Jeffrey's innocent less exciting girlfriend. Isabella rosselinis character is a lounge singer that he fantasizes about having sex with, but because it's not in his morals to cheat on his girlfriend and begin an affair with a married older woman, he dreams about this elaborate mystery where he saves her from a monstrous man that is frank booth. It is Jeffrey's fantasy, and one part that hints to it being a dream/fantasy is when Dennis hopper repeats to Jeffrey "in dreams I walk with you, in dreams I talk to you, in dreams you're mine all of the time". Also when he says "you're like me" in the joyride scene. Jeffrey isn't capable of doing those sexual acts to rosselinis character so he creates frank to justify his actions when he eventually has sex with her and hits her and whatnot. His guilt is apparent and he fights off those sexually deviant urges by eventually killing frank in the end, who represents his overtly sexual side. I don't know what to believe though when it comes to David lynch films. I just thought it was an interesting take on what actually happened in the movie
This reminds me of a few situations I found myself in on the road in Fl and NE back in the 80's-early nineties--weird people in strange bars who could turn on you in a minute--the music is eerily perfect in this scene-one of Lynch's signature vignettes in a dark and hypnotic film..
Man!!!! Roy Orbison's music was just made for David Lynch to use for this baby. Creeppyy baby to the ultimate. Love it!!!!!! Gotta go put on some Orbison and do some work. Cool.
This is a nightmare put on film, a dark journey into the underbelly of a world you hope to never see in person. For those who enjoy strange and twisted film, it is one of the best.
Don't know what it is about this movie that makes me want to watch it over and over. I think that it has to do with this so-called perfect town and the shit that really goes on beneath the surface. I think also that I like how Jefferey is drawn into this world and how he tries to save her.
Man oh man, the dark side of pop romance. Dean Stockwell is toooo cool here. A "drag" 1950's pop icon. I love all the Buneulish imagery with the mouths turned vagina by way of lipstick. Freud, Freud, Freud.
The one scene that scares the ever loving hell out of me, other than this scene (Straight from My Heart, Fucker!), is the first time you hear "In Dreams" and Frank flinches at 3:00. It looks like he could have been normal for at least a minute until that flinch, the pain that wipes back onto his face is terrifying. A fantastic movie all around.
Dennis Hopper was at his all-time best as Frank Booth. I heard he didn't get an Oscar nomination simply because his character was too violent. He deserved the Oscar more than Michael Caine (who won that year for Hannah and Her Sisters).
Frank has a fascination for this song for several reasons. The "CCC they call the sandman" is mentioned while talking with Ben ("took all those drugs away and it was f*cking beautiful"). Another reason is that Frank wants to show affection for Jeffrey, but is unable to do so, resulting in frustration. Frank wants to love a mother figure (Dorothy) and another male (Jeffrey). I wrote about this movie, relating to my own experiences. It's on BillyGilmanFans, send a message if you want to read.
I can't seem to understand why people think David Lynch is a good director, the guy's obviously a nutcase. I wasted to many hours by watching his films and I want them back!
This movie gave me nightmares for a week, but in a good way. I don't think that I've seen a movie as dark and disturbing (except maybe Apocalypse Now) that's also as superb.
This movie really is pretty creepy. It shows how such a normal suburban neighborhood could have some of the most twisted things happening behind closed doors
One Of The Best Movies out there :)
Wonderful song, and I loved Blue Velvet.
Must have watched it 30 times over the
years.
Thank you, joanie
I've just watched this movie again. It's marvelous and this scene is just f***ing great! Dennis Hooper is incredible. Respect.
rgds

great film with a awesome soundtrack.
Best scene ever in a movie. David Lynch is a genius, great acting by Dennis Hopper& Isabella
These are among the best movie scenes in American Cinematography!
i remember when i first saw this the addition of the girl dancing on the car creeped the shit out of me, haha. great movie
I love his intensity and deciseivness when he tells Paul to put The Candy Colored Clown on. It's like he really MUST have that song on at that moment.
This was an absolute delight to watch at 16, and it's still just as intriguing.
truly one of the greatest films ever
Now a gotta watch this tonight- great movie!
The gal with the pink mini-skirt dancing on top of the car is no doubt hilarious!
Then the dude singing into an old utility light! Wow...this shit can only happen in the amazingly bizzare world of David Lynch!!
Awesome.
This is among the most epic and beautiful works of dark and mystic art i have ever seen conveyed on screen.
A great scene from a great film. Frank's lines in this scene are pure poetry in my opinion.

It's so weird that this movie came out the same year I was born. I love this movie and it doesn't feel like it's old at all.
This reminds me of a few situations I found myself in on the road in Fl and NE back in the 80's-early nineties--weird people in strange bars who could turn on you in a minute--the music is eerily perfect in this scene-one of Lynch's signature vignettes in a dark and hypnotic film..
I brought the DVD just for these scenes. Dean Stockwell and Dennis Hopper work so well together. Come on guys, do another film together, please!
This was filmed in wilmington NC. The chick was a waitress at a local dive . Met her in 94. Epic film! epic man!
He is a gift. His work is a gift. Go Pops.
Here's to Dennis.
I think this song in the background made me me come up this a great idea. Great thinkin', kid16mm. You made a fool out of this movie!
Man!!!! Roy Orbison's music was just made for David Lynch to use for this baby. Creeppyy baby to the ultimate. Love it!!!!!! Gotta go put on some Orbison and do some work. Cool.
One of the greatest scene's in a flick. Hopper and Dean Stockwell at their best.
The vivid, decadent imagery of Ben's rendition of the classic Roy Orbison melody is a powerful seduction, a marvelous scene.
RIP peace John, hope you're allright in actors' paradise!
cant stop watching it
Blue Velvet is in my top 3 films of all time.
just amazing, what a genius
Absolute genius how lynch turns such an innocent song into such a sinister threat.
NO WAY MAN!! It's trippy enough w/out doing that!
love this movie so much
this movie is brilliant
My opinion is that this is going down as classic cinema someday
imo the best antagonist in a movie ever, so disturbing and terrifying, dennis hopper was the man!
I think this scene is quickly becoming my favorite, so hard to choose though.
This is a nightmare put on film, a dark journey into the underbelly of a world you hope to never see in person. For those who enjoy strange and twisted film, it is one of the best.
Classic scene from a classic movie :-)
david lynch is bizare and even hard to understand but there is something beautiful and amazing about his films
R.I.P Dennis Hopper. hes a true legend!
Man, i fucking love Dennis Hooper.. Best actor ever....... You understand FUCK?!
Dennis Hopper makes probably the greatest bastards of all time.
Not just evil, his characters have FUN being evil.
beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Don't know what it is about this movie that makes me want to watch it over and over. I think that it has to do with this so-called perfect town and the shit that really goes on beneath the surface. I think also that I like how Jefferey is drawn into this world and how he tries to save her.
Awesome clip made my night mayne
My favorite scene in the whole film
Unique awesome movie
I was so doubtful about watching it because i wasnt too fond of mullholand drive but i like this soooooooooo much more
So suave ...
You're insane, and should be writing for Lynch. LOL
I'm certainly laughing just now (and Lynch would be howling). Classic "impress the girl line."
Dean Stockwell has been acting since he was a kid in the 1940's he was awesome here...awsome
nice editing dude, you got the best of both songs, frank would be proud
Man oh man, the dark side of pop romance. Dean Stockwell is toooo cool here. A "drag" 1950's pop icon. I love all the Buneulish imagery with the mouths turned vagina by way of lipstick. Freud, Freud, Freud.
It was a really disturbing film, but really deep & interesting at the same time!
Here's to Ben.
A Legend.
beautiful.
Perfeito!
A edição ficou excelente!!!
Dean Stockwell with the worklight microphone = perfection.
"Feel my muscles. FEEL EM! HUH?! YOU LIKE THAT?!!"
aaaaaHUHHH!! HUH! haaaaaaaa! Man is that ever nuts!
"Frank STOP IT !! " FRANK !! FRANK !!" All while a weird lady dances on top of a car to Roy Orbison. One of my f'in faves U f'in F*CK !!!
Brilliant video. I love the first scene, when Frank threatens Jeffrey. "You receive a love letter from me, you're fucked FOREVER!"
Who the HELL WAS EVER SCARIER in a movie than Dennis Hopper as Frank?
R.I.P. Hopper
Frank = one of the best bad guys ever!!
Oh yeah, I remeber this! This that one movie where Dennis Hopper plays sort of a disturbed character.
very moving,enjoyed it.
Holy shit...best acting ever.
alright lynch is awesome... we all know that.. he gets alot of his inspiration from dreams and his practice of t.m.
In dreams your mine
all the time.
I love you Roy
My personal favorite part of this flick neighbor
Dennis Hopper was at his all-time best as Frank Booth. I heard he didn't get an Oscar nomination simply because his character was too violent. He deserved the Oscar more than Michael Caine (who won that year for Hannah and Her Sisters).
Oh my!!!! awesome...

And I like scene in a club, when that dude is singing. And I adore "chicken walk" of Kyle
It's the voices in his (Frank Booth's) head...Dennis Hopper was born to play this role.
Real life on the dark side we never want to see. The music is great with Roy(the) Voice.
I wonder if it was what Frank Listened to when he was Donny's age.
I can't seem to understand why people think David Lynch is a good director, the guy's obviously a nutcase. I wasted to many hours by watching his films and I want them back!
Ah David Lynch, the mind is endless. He is releasing a blues album, Crazy Clown, soon.. He says he is inspired by Chicago electric blues. yeah..
Only Lynch could think of that type of brillance for Hopper's role
me too as well mate.........classic!
This is why I was never much of a Dennis Hopper fan. The song's title is actually "In Dreams".
Love. This. Movie.
CLASSIC!
Pretty pretty!
Great minds think alike!
Blue Velvet = brilliant.
"You receive a love letter from me, you're fucked forever!"
This needs to be put on a Hallmark card.
This movie gave me nightmares for a week, but in a good way. I don't think that I've seen a movie as dark and disturbing (except maybe Apocalypse Now) that's also as superb.
and a classic song too
I always wanted to cover this, back when I was in a band.
This movie really is pretty creepy. It shows how such a normal suburban neighborhood could have some of the most twisted things happening behind closed doors
God what a perverse scene ... love it.
I still don't really understand this film, but it is mesmerising.
Arguably one of the most disturbing scenes from one disturbing film. "So fuckin suave!"
hey I used your video for some rock band 2 shenanigans. I made it a response. David Lynch best director ever
