I agree with you, but the players that are on the pitch have to show some effort too. There wasn't that will, that drive, from a lot of the players today and most of the matches this year.

Fact is united have an average squad and the quality players are either injured or not playing to their level
The few quality players are injury-prone or don’t want to play. Sadly most of the squad are mid-table footballers like Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka or Diogo Dalot.

James, Gusto, Nkunku, Colwill, Chalobah, Badiashile, Cucurella etc have all recently returned through injury which has meant that their starting XI is pretty close full strength and it means that they have options on the bench

I don't think it's quite as simple as saying Kambwala should have started; he's played just a handful of times, coming back from injury, morale in the squad is low and we're playing against a team who could easily have battered us. We know Casemiro is out of position but he's a better player than hes showing this season. Not fair to throw Kambwala in to this mess and risk getting the inevitable hammering from a section of the fans. This shouldn't be a problem the manager has to deal with; the squad depth is really poor

I was at OT today. It’s clear they need an out and out striker. A Van Nistelrooy type who is going to pose a threat in the 6 yard box.
Honestly, Garnacho puts all the effort in but either holds on to the ball for too long and loses it, or shoots when the keeper has had time to read the situation and anticipate the shot. Today, the players showed they aw capable of keeping the ball and putting some decent passes together and moving up the pitch. Once they have the ball in the box, there doesn’t seem to be anyone getting in a position to threaten the goal.
So yeah, a fox in the box for tap ins, and then a little deeper, an aggressive leader to take the game by the scruff of the next who can finish like Scholes, Robson, Rooney.
Finally Rooney is starting to get credit. He’s best English striker ever. And one of the best strikers to ever make it he had everything and his clinical finishing is just supreme
Utd are abysmal. Seeing Keane and Rooney just reminds you of how good they used to be. Proper players who had desire and a winning mentality.

The most two footed player in the league is, ironically, a player United let go last summer. Anthony Elanga of Forest. If you actually watch him very closely he can dribble, pass, cross, and shoot equally well with both feet. He’s a very rare player in that sense.

Less and less with every week. But keep him. Don't back him in the summer. Spent the next season getting these lingering wastemen out of the club. And planning for a complete overhaul in 25/26.

Before ETH came in, the consensus was we need to gut our squad and rebuild. ETH should never have been in charge of recruitment so i cant pin the blame on him. we overachieved last season and that made people think we didnt need to rebuild. Mount, no idea why we got him. Antony complete waste of money. i like Onana, Martinez and Hojlund.

@@mrsswindon I would like to give ETH another season just to give him the chance to prove this season was a one off. But I would really like to see a few chances in the formation and on the team that I find disturbing:
- Be able to chance the formation when needed (it’s the same no matter the current result)
- Don’t play with inverted wingers unless we need goals. It’s useless if we want to provide the striker with good passes
- play with a false 9 and a striker. Only one striker (Højlund) is not enough.
- Sorry but chance the keeper to someone reliable it’s so important to have trust in him from a defenders perspective.
- Buy teamplayers not individual expensive outdated players - long term investments.
Sack him and bring who exactly? If pep and klopp came together they still wouldn't make it with these bunch of players

this video shows why united has not improved in the last 10 years. the former players contribute to this, they provide weekly criticism, increase pressure, the media has all kinds of things to say about the club and the so-called gossip. If those former players really want to help United, they will not do so by speaking out on TV but by taking on a role at the club. It is only at United that old players criticize every week. At the moment United is not a top club, we only have a big name. United has no organization, there is no straight line, the cycle continuously repeats itself, a new coach has a good first season and the following season the coach is fired. give United 3 years to fully recover from the disorder, give Ten Hag the trust and let him work with the new board and we as fans must be patient.

Very fair point about Arsenal and injuries in general. But they haven’t strictly been injury free all season. Timber out all season, Partey out most of the season, Tomiyasu out for spells, Martinelli out a few times. Been luckier than most, but not quite as Scott free as some suggest
McTominay plays centre back for his country. I get that he’s not ball playing but at least he’d be in a familiar position.

Newcastle have been killed with injuries all season. Never complain ed. Just got on with it having academy players on the bench. Eddie never once complained about losing a match down to injuries. If it wasn't for a shite penalty descision for PSG we would have progressed in the Champions league!!

Been hearing the same thing since 2013. Its really sad to see Man Utd decline. Say whatever you want but the only time we did somewhat better was when Jose was in charge. Its been a rough down hill. Dont know how things will change. The pundits also dont have any plausible explanation. Probably Ferguson took away one key thing with him, which was the ruthless culture he had built over 2.5 decades.

One point, 10 of 11 have no heart to play, even not to expect for winning the game. Everyone are always to be fired or frozen in next play, so they wanted to kick the ball out of his control area. Wayne said it perfectly, a team of individuals and, they have to want to play for their club. Will be an interesting transfer window, I don't think there will be a lot of top talent out there that would want to play for this Utd team under Ten Hag.
I highlighted this in my preview video that we've to be clinical in the final third and we've to defend well. I was afraid of conceding a silly goal which they conceded. Casmero was jogging to match the offside line... Garnacho was too wasteful. Without Bruno we cannot create the big chances. That's for sure
Garnacho caused Arsenal a lot of problems but the final ball was dreadful. But he gave it a good go.

I get Wayne's point of players wanting to play. But honestly United have been very stupid on recruiting injury prone players even from SAF days (Michael Owen, Louis Saha, Hargreaves).
We know the worst indicator to have a player fit, is having past injuries and there they go to recruit Varane who wasn't playing much in Madrid anymore because of injuries....are we really surprised he plays nothing for us?
Other fans were laughing at Arsenal for signing White and I immediately knew Varane was going to play half the games White would.
Then the sports science must always be lacking too, because I've seen way too many players never achieve their potential because of injuries and struggle to come back.
Hell they even failed proven winners like Vidic, Rio, Neville and Van Persie. Who had too much sidelined time because of injuries compared to players on other top clubs.
Ferguson even had his own centerback injury crisis, fielding Carrick.
So in this case, I think the players might be 20% at fault. But because of the history even in the Ferguson days, pretty sure 80% of the fault is on the club.
ETH must be doing something wrong. Injuries have wooed us all season, some players like Mount show up for a single game and they're back on the treatment table..same goes for all our defenders...could it be intense training that's injuring them?
Everyone is forgetting that United and Ten Hag were brilliant last season and we didn't have a striker. This season we have had so many injuries, ofcourse we are not going to play well. You see, United need to fight for Top 4 with heart. It would be the mission next season (forget any title ambition) - but it must start with heart. Although Scott McTominay is out of his depth at any kind of United squad, but we need more lads like him: players who want to fight for United colors to go to Europe, and then challenge for title.
We have so many "quality Europe players" we forget that they have been there and done that - so it doesn't help the squad, manager anymore.
