- A 50 minute review of the Honda VFR750R RC30 covering the specification of the bike, some comments on the differences in the models sold across the world, the racing history and my personal view as to current (2024) valuations. I also take the bike for a gentle ride.
Designed for enthusiasts that enjoy details or those contemplating a potential purchase, the video can be shortened by skipping the detailed specification section , minute 2-24 , or by playing the video at 1.5 speed which can be set on the UA-cam drop down menu !
Other, slightly shorter reviews of Homologation bikes include ..

Best looking bike ever made, in my humble opinion.
@@petehook2866 Timeless . The best ones are . That , and the 996 are drop dead gorgeous 😂
What a stunner the RC30 is, one of those bikes i had on my bedroom wall back in the day. If only i had the money to own one. Great video Michael, as per usual, but you really must stop I'm always lusting after all these fabulous bikes you keep showing us.
@@ianhalliwell8604 😂 .. I felt the same about this and the RC45 . Invented a few tenuous “investment” arguments before admitting to myself that I ride full on sports bikes increasingly , infrequently and that garage collections are normally break even after you factor in the maintenance 😂 Stunning looking bike and iconic . Money no object ? I would have one tomorrow ..
nicely done.
Thank you . Hard bike to do justice to..
One of the most beautiful motorcycles of all time. Imagine the reaction of walking around one and coming upon the Swiss spec. rectangular headlight!
😂..
I had use of one for a week in the early 90's, riding it on UK roads. I have owned many bikes since then, many much faster. Nothing comes close. I really want one and have some inheritance money coming soon, so tempted. I just drool over the looks and I know what they are like to ride too. I would have to keep it in my living room as I don't have a garage!
I was surprised by just how much I enjoyed riding this and the RC45 . Very special bikes 👍
Arguably the most iconic of all sports bikes. I knew I'd never afford one so, some years ago, I bought an NC30 in type 1 colours and - just like this - it is an absolute jewel of a bike. It gives I believe 90% of the experience for 20% of the cost and revs a little higher, to boot.
But this is the Daddy and'll have a place in my dream garage, always...
@@paulelverstone8677 Always be the one that set the WSB homologation ball , rolling . A very special Honda 👍
Excellent video - Thank you
Thoroughly enjoyed that and learnt a lot. Wonderful machines.
Thank you Michael.
@@jim.bambury Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for taking the time to comment Jim .
Still the one I look as a "unicorn" (if not THE), even after owning Italian and British motorcycle icons. Congrats!
Lovely video as always (and getting better at it!), keep them coming. 🙂
I've owned two of these wonderful machines. Just sold my second one. Both 1990 models
Lovely looking bike especially the rear view mirrors! They would not look out of place on a modern day race bike. I did not think I would stay the distance with this video Michael (50minutes) but it was very enjoyable! Thank you!
@@wakajawaka44 Was a bit of an epic wasn’t it 😂
Did think about cutting 20 minutes out but decided I would leave it . People can always fast forward or play it at 1.5 x speed ..
These certainly were the bikes to beat back in their day at the TT with the likes of Joey Dunlop and Steve Hislop etc on board. Watched them many times at various parts round the course and the V4 bark from a race kit equipped RC30 was a sound like no other!👍
I really fancied one of these at the time and could, just about, have afforded one but was shocked when I actually got to sit on one, it felt tiny. At 6'3" with big feet and carrying more lbs than I care to mention I found it just too small and uncomfortable but then, as you say, it was/is a full on race bike with a few added road-necessary bits for legality.
Icon and legend are words too often used but certainly apply here. Great video!👍👍
PS.....Any chance you can get hold of and give a review on a NR750?🙏
They are certainly small bikes , as were most of the riders . Great sound .
If anyone ever offers me the opportunity to ride an NR , it would be hard to resist the temptation to film it as well 👍
Lovely looking bike. I remember seeing one for the first time at the 1988 IOM TT. Seem to remember they were 'only' £10,000, unfortunately out of my reach. And my favourite race bike was the Rothmans RVF 750 that raced at the 24hr Bol d'Or. What a fantastic sound they made.
Still looks great today . Timeless . Surprisingly easy to ride , well at least slowly !
I thought the Rothmans colours looked great on the endurance bikes too . RC30 didn’t race in them to my knowledge, but see a few bikes in the colours and understand why . 👍
Thanks for watching Dave and taking the time to comment .
Still a great looking tool 👌👌👌
It sure is! Great bike . Still rides well today .. 👍
@ I bet it does but they cost £30000 🙈 I love v4 got an tuono factory 2018 it’s amazing
What a gorgeous example. Closest I ever got was a UK spec NC30 in the 90s that was sadly stolen. Even now though the little brother is horrendously expensive.
@@TheOriginalCoda thanks for watching !
NC’s aren’t as expensive as they were but still valuable ..
@@michaelmam I would probably buy another one but not sure if that's just me trying to compensate for the psychological trauma of the loss 30 years later. A few years after that I had an NC35 which I think was a better bike, but I also had the SP-1 at the same time, it was a difficult choice every morning which bike to ride to work...
@ Sounds like a nice problem to have 🤔
If you are coming to the US. I would also recommend Blue Ridge MTNs, and Norther CA from Tahoe to redwoods to HWY 1. Hope you video your adventures.
Your best video yet my Mate. 🙂I remember been stood at Donnington park in 1988 watching Fred Merkel racing his against the original Norton Rotary in the Transatlantic Challenge races. I think the year thing with Honda is the same, as my 1987 CBR600FH (PC19) and I also have a 1987 CBR1000FH (PC23) and then they move on a letter every year. I simply love these Hondas from that era, sadly I can't ever see me having RC30 pockets. I can tell you put a lot of effort into this one with all the correct facts. No reverse Comstars on those😂 All the best, Dave
Thanks Dave . Glad you enjoyed it and great that it bought back memories from 36 years ago !
A very special Honda and enjoyed making this one . Really interesting story . 👍
Great video a proper nurd out fest , nice to meet you at the cafe this morning , you mentioned some additive to stop the ethanol clogging up the carbs on my RD350LC , could you tell me the name of it again please , ride safe Matt
@@matthull7504 Good to meet you Matt . Your LC looked great 👍
The one I use is called TetraBoost . Works well for me !
Thank you for your thoughtful informative review, would you consider this a good bike for Off Roading?
Seriously tho that bike is gorgeous and I have long lasted after one!
@@collyernicholasjohn 😂I suspect a few have taken them off road ..
Another reason they’re so bloody expensive
Did you fit a rear rim off of an RC45?
I did, also an NC30 front for the extra half inch.
I'm pretty sure Australia had full power models and cost around $15k Au.
@@robgreentree I think they had full power models too . 👍
Prices are dropping like a lead balloon , buy gold instead or even better an RC 46 800fi £2k for a decent one and the same experience - 0.5 🤣🤣best bike bargain ever , have a 2000 plate with 20k miles , mint bike
@@philipheron3429 😂 An RC30 sold for 34 at the Bonhams sale at Stafford recently, so maybe not a lead ballon 🤔
VFR 800 FI, a great bike and has a lot of fans . Not sure it is quite the same experience 😉
Chalk and cheese. RC30 road legal race bike with a pedigree.......VFR800 sports tourer (I owned 1)...the many many road tests on here of the RC30 confirms this.
@@ekspatriat I can’t imagine he was serious .. 😂
Love the bike but know next to nothing. Thank you
