I like Childe as a character because he's fundamentally honest. He dislikes they way the Fatui uses politics in their way of conquering the world, he says he'd rather travel with us openly, and even freely gives some information to us in his voice lines, and he's blunt about his own goal of conquering the world; which is why it's so compelling when he does choose to lie. He lies to the youngest kids in his family about what his job is, who he works for, and what that entails in the grander scheme, seemingly to preserve his image to those younger kids ( _Which suggests to me that he has some code of ethics or morals that he tries to live up to_ ) and that is quite compelling in a character so single minded about battle and blood.
To add on to what you’ve already said (specifically in reference to him lying to his younger siblings and having a personal code of ethics): While his image might play a part (especially considering he chose to say he’s a toy salesman because it’d be a cool job in the eyes of a kid), it also has a lot to do with him being extremely focused on preserving innocence in kids. The most overt instance I can recall where he says this outright was back during the very first web event “Stone Harbour Treasure Journal,” which ran during his first banner (fortunately, all of the dialogue from it has been preserved on the fan wiki page for the event btw, in case you want to see more Childe dialogue 😄). During this web event, there were a bunch of random events that you could encounter with either Childe or Zhongli and see how they handled different scenarios. While helping out at the Wanwen Bookhouse with Childe, one of the events you could encounter was of a little girl asking whether the tales in storybooks were real. The Traveler is given the option to either “See if Childe has a good answer” or to “Destroy her illusion.” When Childe handles the question, he tells a fanciful story about a fairy-god adeptus who will watch over the kid in her dreams, so long as she’s a good girl. Apparently after she leaves, Childe tells the Traveler that “Bah, it did her no harm. She looked so happy after I told her. A child's world should be innocent.” If you instead chose the harsher reality-check option, Childe says “A natural! I see this isn’t your first time crushing children’s fantasies. As far as I'm concerned... even though all children will come to know the truth, fantasy should be prolonged wherever possible.” This sentiment, combined with his character story quest being titled “Defender of Childhood Dreams,” really seems to indicate that, aside from being bloodthirsty and always wanting to fight, Childe really cares about protecting innocence even for kids outside of his family. We know that he’s great with kids with how he treats Teucer, what he told us about how he cares for his siblings in some of his teapot dialogue, and how he played with Yoimiya’s little group of kids in a recent version. Given what his character stories tell us about him changing dramatically after falling into the abyss and seeing that he’s the only Genshin character who (I believe) never has a highlight in his eyes in any official art, I think it’s safe to say that he lost his own innocence in some way when he fell into the abyss. So now, he strives to keep it alive as long as possible for other kids. He’s such an interesting and compelling character, I also really enjoy him ✨

So 'Childe' is more of a title because in the original CN text, he is referred to as young nobleman. As for his siblings, Tonia, Anton and Teucer are younger than him. He is the middle child with at least 2 or maybe 3 more older siblings. So he's the middle child.
'Childe' is archaic English for 'young nobleman' (more precisely, 'a young man of noble birth, esp. a candidate for knighthood' ). In the Italian translation he is called 'Tartaglia il Principe' (Tartaglia the Prince), which despite not being totally accurate depicts the core idea.
I have a good feeling the reason why Hoyoverse never introduced his other siblings besides Teucer is probably because they will be introduced as future playable characters with Visions. They probably recently got theirs. That would be an interesting story seeing Tartaglia teaching them how to control and harness their powers. Having Tartaglia and his siblings in one party would be so cute. Don't you agree?

Can't find the source now, but apparently there was a genshin dev interview where they called Childe a walking spoiler, and it's so real. He literally showed us how to get into the abyss (before enkanomiya dropped) and a "giant beast" that's probably a future boss, his story talked about being chased by wolves (a wolflord?), gave us names of and gave some personalities to future characters, told us a bit more about Snezhnaya... everything about him is very much connected to the endgame or close to it. I look forward to seeing more of him in the future.
Between his ranged + melee playstyle, and his lore within the Abyss, Childe has remained within my top 3 characters since his introduction. I cannot wait for more story with him, especially with his mention of an "enormous beast" within the Abyss. IMAGINE a story quest or even an Interlude with Childe, about reuniting with Skirk or finally taking down that beast.
DUUDE Childe was one of the characters a found most interesting before but after this I'm even more interested in his story. THIS is why I LOVE these lore videos. I love this type of videos. I always enjoy reading character lore but sometimes i don't have the character. I also like listening to someone else's opinion regarding these instead of the ai voices reading lore you can find out there

You're right. In Greek mythology, Ajax is a hero who killed himself using his own sword after he killed his military comrades. It also mentioned that he was punished by Athena for his rejection of her help. It makes me wonder if Tsaritsa would punish Childe at some point in the future.

Childe is not really an Alias (Correct me If I'm wrong) In CN Language they call him 'gongzi' meaning Young Lord/Young Master/Prince Basically his underling won't call him Tartaglia and call him Young Lord It's in many Wuxia novel/story Emperor will be called Gong/Master/Lord by his servant and so EN translate it into Childe which also has the same meaning Also I really like this lore reading stuff plz do more
In JP they call him "Koushi-sama" I wish I know how that word is written and the actual translation means. I'm 80-90% sure it's close to what the CN title says. Learning language is hard.
The East Asian translations are pretty consistent with each other. The Italian name (Tartaglia) is their name as a Harbinger, while the translation/description of the Italian Name (Childe/Gongzi/Koushi/Young Lord) is like a codename or a title. So the expected style would be "Young Lord/Childe" Tartaglia or "The Fair Lady/The Lady" La Signora. However in the English translation (which is the basis of the other non-East Asian language translations), the Italian name and the code name are used interchangeably (as indicated by Tartaglia as "an alias of sorts").
Incase you didn't know Morepesok is pronounced "mo"del "re"port "pe" same as "re" but with a p and "so"lid + k (idk if that made sense 😅) it means sea sand more is sea and pesok is sand

Usually it's how op's comment said, like "e" in "Rex Lapis", with the difference that "e" really softens the previous letter (but I can't find anything like that in English, so jokes on me). Tbh English alphabet makes Russian seem harder in my opinion, because it doesn't have some sounds and the word becomes long and MENACING (zasheeshayousheekhsya lmao. in English transcription you see it and go wtf). I didn't even realize it was Russian until they said Tsaritsa out loud, and I was like... wait a minute... It took me an EMBARRASSINGLY long time

My first 5-star was from Inazuma, so I couldn't level her up for a long time. The second was Keqing and she was in my party constantly for a year or so. But even she had troubles facing pyro slimes and flowers. So then I decided that the third one should be a hydro-dps. And after weeks of waiting and farming Childe came home and my party was complete. Xiangling, Tartaglia, Keqing, and Barbara. Not so efficient in the abyss, but perfect for exploration. Still love all of them.

Wow, I never knew how much lore the characters had in their story and their dialogue, especially knowing that Skirk was finally revealed in this new Fontaine quests, I am thoroughly impressed and surprised by the lore that Mihoyo has made! ( Unfortunately for me I’m so far back with Fontaine story and quests that I only know of Skirk appearing because of the trailer and also some Mmds, so in theory I know nothing but also know something!) i remember getting childe by accident and didn't like him at first. Now I am proud to say that he was my very first five star and is one of my best main DPS.
I'll never forgive mihoyo for not giving Childe any battlescars or/and freckles. It would fit him so well! :( I also feel like Childe got released too early, considering how much end game lore he has. Now we probably won't see him in the Archon Quest until Snezhnaya because he knows too much and would spoil the story for us. The idea that you can casually fall into the Abyss like that is terrifying, I wonder if there are similar "cracks in the earth" anywhere else in Teyvat. Skirk must be such a badass, I'd love to know more about her, but her mention is such an obscure bit of lore that I don't have much hope for her to be shown in the main quest, we'll probably get a book or artifact about her and that's it :/ I also crave some information about Childe's Vision - did he got it before or after the Abyss? or maybe during the 3 months down there? What were the events that lead him to receiving his Vision? What could it represent? I need moarrrrrr. Manifesting playable Tonia - teen model (as we already know from Childe's dialogue with Yoimiya that Tonia's a teen), ginger pigtails and freckles, plssss mihoyo, that would be so great. One of my favorite characters. I like him bcs he's honest being a skewed person. He's the type of person irl that I can befriend, which the rest of my friends will question my life decisions, but ultimately I will never trust him with anything of mine. Personality-wise I like Childe better than Ayato (and Yae). I can never be close to ppl like Ayato and Yae. At most I will keep them as co-workers. Bcs you can't trust anything they say.
Some people have mentioned this before, idk if it’s coincidental or deliberate but supposedly players have noticed that the way he fights with his water blade things is very similar to that of the Abyss Heralds. The choreography is quite similar. Idk just found that v interesting being as Childe has actually been in the Abyss!!
the fatui is related to the comedia del art, as all of the harbingers have names from it. The camedia dell'arte was an early form of professional thearter, from italy, from way before the 2000s and if I'm not wrong it was quite popular throughout Europe at that time. As I've stated, all of the harbingers have names from the play, such as, Il Dottore, Tartaglia, Scaramouche, Jester, Il Capitano, La Signora, Pantalone, etc..

If you pay attention they clearly state Jester as the First of the Fatui not the Fatui Harbingers. I think Jester is like rank 0 if anything or literally just right hand of her majesty and leader of all fatui and not just the harbingers. Just my opinion.
Tartaglia, the title conferred to him by The Tsaritsa, as well as the other harbingers' titles, are from a type of italian play called ''comedia dell'arte", where every character has a different role. I suggest ya'll search Marco Meatball's videos, he talks abt it during his reviews on Fatui stuff. He also kinda explains the basics of each character and their roles in the play, wich can give us a basic notion of their Harbinger counterparts' personalities) (BTW the same Marco is also who voiced Dvorak in this year's Lantern Rite quests)

If I remember correctly he recorded them a long time ago. A bit sad because Childe had so many interesting new voice lines after it but hoyoverse is always adding new ones for new characters so we need a second run when genshin is complete :D

"Childe" is some sort of noble title (like, a nobleman's son, I think?). "Knave" has several meanings, like "servant" and "a deceitful, dishonest person".
It's a time capsule for a reason. Realistically, it's the same scenario as Sumeru now, but the content will still be worth watching once its out for people that care about it.
Skirk is still refered to as swordwoman no matter which Traveler you play with, so I do not think it was Lumine Plus I believe that if it really was one of the siblings, with Aether and Lumine being so similar to each other, wouldn't Childe recognise the other sibling when we met in Liyue then?

So the expected style would be "Young Lord/Childe" Tartaglia or "The Fair Lady/The Lady" La Signora. However in the English translation (which is the basis of the other non-East Asian language translations), the Italian name and the code name are used interchangeably (as indicated by Tartaglia as "an alias of sorts").
@@wienzard93 Koushi is the Japanese reading for Gongzi, which literally means "Young Lord", but the English equivalent would be "Childe".
Incase you didn't know Morepesok is pronounced "mo"del "re"port "pe" same as "re" but with a p and "so"lid + k (idk if that made sense 😅) it means sea sand more is sea and pesok is sand
Russian "e" sounds more like "ye", so it's probably "Moryepyesok" is easier... but idk tho, am not Russian

@@Calvin704704 Russian's "e" has two sounds. One of them is what you described, but it's used in some specific cases, like when the word begins with "e". Usually it's how op's comment said, like "e" in "Rex Lapis", with the difference that "e" really softens the previous letter (but I can't find anything like that in English, so jokes on me). Tbh English alphabet makes Russian seem harder in my opinion, because it doesn't have some sounds and the word becomes long and MENACING (zasheeshayousheekhsya lmao. in English transcription you see it and go wtf). I didn't even realize it was Russian until they said Tsaritsa out loud, and I was like... wait a minute... It took me an EMBARRASSINGLY long time

It's interesting to see different localisations. English makes him bloodthirsty, in the other languages he sounds more like a general/military man.
My first 5-star was from Inazuma, so I couldn't level her up for a long time. The second was Keqing and she was in my party constantly for a year or so. But even she had troubles facing pyro slimes and flowers. So then I decided that the third one should be a hydro-dps. And after weeks of waiting and farming Childe came home and my party was complete. Xiangling, Tartaglia, Keqing, and Barbara. Not so efficient in the abyss, but perfect for exploration. Still love all of them.

Wow, I never knew how much lore the characters had in their story and their dialogue, especially knowing that Skirk was finally revealed in this new Fontaine quests, I am thoroughly impressed and surprised by the lore that Mihoyo has made! ( Unfortunately for me I’m so far back with Fontaine story and quests that I only know of Skirk appearing because of the trailer and also some Mmds, so in theory I know nothing but also know something!)

i remember getting childe by accident and didn't like him at first. Now I am proud to say that he was my very first five star and is one of my best main DPS.
I'll never forgive mihoyo for not giving Childe any battlescars or/and freckles. It would fit him so well! :(
I also feel like Childe got released too early, considering how much end game lore he has. Now we probably won't see him in the Archon Quest until Snezhnaya because he knows too much and would spoil the story for us. The idea that you can casually fall into the Abyss like that is terrifying, I wonder if there are similar "cracks in the earth" anywhere else in Teyvat. Skirk must be such a badass, I'd love to know more about her, but her mention is such an obscure bit of lore that I don't have much hope for her to be shown in the main quest, we'll probably get a book or artifact about her and that's it :/ I also crave some information about Childe's Vision - did he got it before or after the Abyss? or maybe during the 3 months down there? What were the events that lead him to receiving his Vision? What could it represent? I need moarrrrrr.

One of my favorite characters. I like him bcs he's honest being a skewed person. He's the type of person irl that I can befriend, which the rest of my friends will question my life decisions, but ultimately I will never trust him with anything of mine.
Personality-wise I like Childe better than Ayato (and Yae). I can never be close to ppl like Ayato and Yae. At most I will keep them as co-workers. Bcs you can't trust anything they say.
Some people have mentioned this before, idk if it’s coincidental or deliberate but supposedly players have noticed that the way he fights with his water blade things is very similar to that of the Abyss Heralds. The choreography is quite similar. Idk just found that v interesting being as Childe has actually been in the Abyss!!
His weapons are also very similiar to the spears in Enkanomiya
the fatui is related to the comedia del art, as all of the harbingers have names from it. The camedia dell'arte was an early form of professional thearter, from italy, from way before the 2000s and if I'm not wrong it was quite popular throughout Europe at that time.
As I've stated, all of the harbingers have names from the play, such as, Il Dottore, Tartaglia, Scaramouche, Jester, Il Capitano, La Signora, Pantalone, etc..

If you pay attention they clearly state Jester as the First of the Fatui not the Fatui Harbingers. I think Jester is like rank 0 if anything or literally just right hand of her majesty and leader of all fatui and not just the harbingers. Just my opinion.
Tartaglia, the title conferred to him by The Tsaritsa, as well as the other harbingers' titles, are from a type of italian play called ''comedia dell'arte", where every character has a different role.
I suggest ya'll search Marco Meatball's videos, he talks abt it during his reviews on Fatui stuff. He also kinda explains the basics of each character and their roles in the play, wich can give us a basic notion of their Harbinger counterparts' personalities)
(BTW the same Marco is also who voiced Dvorak in this year's Lantern Rite quests)

If I remember correctly he recorded them a long time ago. A bit sad because Childe had so many interesting new voice lines after it but hoyoverse is always adding new ones for new characters so we need a second run when genshin is complete :D

One of the voicelines is then removed after a specific Main Story event (if/when you've played it you'll know to whom I'm referring to) because, again, story reasons. I'm staying vague to avoid spoilers ^_^

It's a time capsule for a reason. Realistically, it's the same scenario as Sumeru now, but the content will still be worth watching once its out for people that care about it.

that only works if you play as aether and lumine is the abyss princess.
Skirk is still refered to as swordwoman no matter which Traveler you play with, so I do not think it was Lumine
Plus I believe that if it really was one of the siblings, with Aether and Lumine being so similar to each other, wouldn't Childe recognise the other sibling when we met in Liyue then?
