- How to factory reset iPhone to sell? In this tutorial, I show you how to factory reset and erase your iPhone, so it can be safely sold. Note: The steps in this tutorial can factory reset any iPhones running iOS 12, iOS 13, and iOS 14. This includes iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone SE
Follow the steps below to factory reset your phone to sell:
1. Open the settings on your iPhone.
2. In the settings, select the first option under search with your name. It should also be labeled Apple ID, iCloud, Media
3. In Apple ID, scroll down and select iCloud.
4. Select iCloud Backup.
5. Select Back Up Now to backup your iPhone to iCloud.
6. Go back to Apple ID and scroll all the way to the to the bottom. Select Sign Out.
7. Once you have signed out of iCloud, go back to the main page of the iPhone settings.
8. Select General.
9. Scroll down and select Reset.
10. Select Erase All Content and Settings.
11. Enter your iPhone passcode and then select Erase iPhone.
12. The iPhone will then reboot and once completed it will will have been factory reset.

I do have one question when I do this will it take my phone number away and my data?

Why would you back-up a phone that you are not using and getting ready to wipe? If you have already moved to a new iPhone and the old phone has been off-line for some time, you will corrupt your data by backing up the old phone...... Just remove any data plans, sign out of iCloud and wipe.
If you want to save your pictures, etc.

If you transfered your number from the old carrier to your new carrier.
many people forget to do this especially if its inexperienced people with the iphone. its not their fault though - apple is seriously annoying in that if you reset thinking that will sign you off, itll make the phone useless to the next user. why keep it locked and signed in when the user wanted to reset the thing? because of this, it results in many phones and ipads becoming useless bricks, and it contributes to e-waste. a third of all apple devices after the first user ends up as this. it is disgusting and wrong.
apple should seriously address this in an update - people tend to go to reset instead of signing out etc, as many wouldnt be aware of that. instead, have a feature that when you reset, a prompt comes up saying you'll be signed out of the device, user clicks accepts and understands, resets and inputs their screen code to confirm. then the iphone is reset and good as new with no BS activation locks.
i say this because a seller who was elderly did not know about this at all, and the buyer asked for this info to unlock the phone and she felt he was after her info, and refused to help, resulting the iphone being useless to the new user. the buyer tried to explain but the elderly seller didnt understand what he was talking about. thats an instant of why this 'signing out' crap before resetting has to stop. it should be, IF YOU INTEND TO RESET, IT AUTOMATICALLY SIGNS YOU OUT OF IT TOO.
The seller did not do this. How can they remotely do this? Please help.
