When I first saw that as a teen, I felt it was really weird for that rainbow dash one. Why not have rainbow dash fight Sonic since that would've been fine and have sonic fight Mario later in season 1?

Also, when Biff Weed talked about Starscream VS Rainbow, he mentioned that whole 'episode being cancelled with Rainbow Dash losing thing', he said that he could only imagine how frustrating it would be for a Transformers fan. I am certainly aware, he might not be SPECIFICALLY talking about Nemesis, but it just felt right in this context considering besides the mistake and Mewtwo VS Shadow, that is his least favorite DEATH BATTLE! episode of all time. Wanted to talk about this ever since I watched Biff's Season 1 Ranking and just waited on that little note to spread what he said around it.
I won't try to defend Starscream vs. Rainbow Dash. But I do want to call out two things about it: 1) Jim Sterling was the voice of Starscream. 2) This episode felt like their way of introducing My Little Pony as serious, powerhouse contenders, rather than (like Boomstick) handwaving them as harmless kid cartoons. In retrospect, it really does feel like a hit piece, on par with Deadpool vs. the Mask.
Gundam VS Optimus is my favorite episode of Death Battle. Optimus Prime is one of my favorite characters, and Gundam is my all time favorite franchise, so watch those 2 in a Death Battle episode, it felt like childhood dream of mine finally being realized. I understand your points, and I agree that Optimus's analysis could have been better. But for me this is without a doubt 10/10
IIRC the episode being canceled if Starscream wins was because they didn't wanna traumatize younger viewers rather than an actual dislike of Starscream. Though why they draw the line at MLP and not stuff like Pokemon, Mario and Sonic is completely and utterly beyond me.
I feel like my equivalent of RD Vs SS was Ryuko Vs Shadow I love Kill La Kill and I also wanted Shadow to get a win for once, but Shadow finally getting a win in a absolutely one-sided match that anyone could predict just hurt for me, especially because it was Ryuko that they had to throw under the bus for Shadow's win.
Eh, I disagree a little. I think Ryuko was thrown under the bus in terms of characterization, but the animation itself didn't portray the fight as a stomp. Whereas RD vs SS just had Starscream getting shat on all match. Ryuko even almost kills Shadow with the scissor blade thing. I'm not particularly a fan of Kill La Kill or Transformers so forgive my ignorance.
Yeah while I was very happy with Shadow winning but at what cost of Ryuko? She didn’t have a good Analysis, didn’t pay much attention to Senketsu and butchered her character. The sound design isn’t all that great too. But I still really want to like the episode and I refuse to put it below Lex vs Doom, Blake vs Mikasa and Akuma vs Shao Khan
I’m kind of mixed on that episode because while the quality of the animation is really good and I’m at least happy that Shadow finally won, they really did Ryuko dirty in this episode with the way she’s written as well as giving her one of the lamest deaths in the series.
Honestly, I love Optimus vs Gundam but my main issue, as a hard-core fan of the original 79 show and the whole Amuro-Char saga in general alongside G1 and IDW Optimus, I felt pretty disappointed in how Amuro was portrayed. He was mostly just treated like "The Pilot" and nothing else, there was no real say on his true character; how he originally was indifferent about war, and how he grew to understand the horror and pain of it but also came out realizing how to not let that define him or humanity in general, to not let their souls be weighed down by gravity and hatred and grow to understand eachother. Like obviously I wasn't expecting them to include his entire story but I do actually feel like it effects the fight. The Amuro they're using is piloting RX-78-2, which is fine, but they're using Amuro during Chars Counterattack according to their analysis, at least in terms of skills. And while I understand Optimus vs RX-78-2 is the most famous matchup, it feels kinda weird not to give Amuro the Nu-Gundam from CC or even mention it. It would've been super cool if Optimus and Amuro were dueling on the arch and when Optimus blasts him in just the right place, knocking off the Gundam's head, we see Amuro do his Last Shooting pose from the end of the series and fire off a shot which destroys the arch. Optimus and The Gundam are knocked back, Optimus lands on a nearby asteroid and Amuro gets out of the Gundam and then the Nu-Gundam comes flying in being controlled by Amuro's newtype connection, he gets in and they continue the fight. I understand that it may just not have been in the budget to include it but like Ben 10 vs Green Lantern, if you can't do something essential for the character, why do it. Now that's not to say I don't like this episode more than Ben 10 vs Green Lantern. I love this episode overall but I do think both characters could've been represented better

I feel like the only real Gundams that could take on Optimus would be Unicorn Gundam and any of its Models just because it literally becomes Space Jesus being able to do the impossible and Turn A not only for its power on its own with a literal black hole generator that powers it, but also the Moonlight Butterfly which literally destroys anything technological save itself. I think in general it was pretty shitty that they made of all things the Gundam face off Optimus compared to any other mecha like the Jaegers, the Evangelion Units, or Getter which would all be somewhat fairer fights
As much as I like the latter of the two fights I understand how you feel. I know the entire point is to have the fights lead to the death from peaceful characters but still your supposed to come to death bee see title to see your favorite character act in an impossible crossover so when that’s misrepresented I see why one would get mad.

You got me feeling really bad for you for how they treated Starscream like how I feel bad for fans of Michelangelo, Luigi, Carnage and Shadow with the latter being a very important character for me as he was the 1st video game character I ever played as. It’s very disappointing to see them shit on for no reason. I Feel Like You were a bit harsh on Gundam vs Optimus the only real flaw I see is Optimus being mischaracterized but I guess since I don't have that much of a connection to Optimus I can forgive it more
I think it's important to say that Optimus Prime vs Gundam is one of my favorite episodes just because I love Optimus overall. However, I think this video was really helpful in discussions as it made me aware of some issues that didn't really occur to me due to my bias. Good stuff.

Ok so Starscream vs Rainbowdash hurt the StarScream fanboy in me because THAT was not Starscream that was the worst depiction of Starscream i have ever seen in my life, starscream would not have been bodied this badly and by something that he could have mutilated in 0.5 seconds flat at WORST. Its a complete mess of an episode and it doesnt even deserve the rank of a joke fight this was just straight up pain. Now Optimus vs Gundam was also something i cant watch again because of Optimus alone. As you said it felt like this was bayformers Prime in the Inactive shell of G1 because why the hell is Optimus just chilling on the ark alone and not helping his team, why is he attacking unprevoked, WHY IS HE SAYING ALL THESE MURDEROUS LINES THAT BAYFORMERS prime would say, why is this even a fight in all honesty. The real Prime would be calm and logical asking what the Gundam is doing on the ark and asking questions not going straight for the "I'm going to slaughter you" tactic, Optimus believes in Freedom is the right of all sentient beings but here it just felt like this was more Megatron than Optimus like I know Optimus can be like this if he's pushed to do so out of anger because of one of his own dying (Like in Prime when Megatron killed Bumblebee and Optimus went into a fit of rage) it just felt like Death battle was just half arsing it the whole way through and went "we will only care a little" which really sucks cause if they ever bring in another Cybertronion into death battle whats to stop them from doing the same half arse tactic they did for Optimus and even more with Starscream.

Honestly I can relate a lot with a series you love being done a bit dirty though it's in different ways. For me the series was Ben 10 which suffered a combination of the problems who have with the Optimus Prime match and just massive amount of missed potential. I honestly hope for ya they do a Transformers match that can at least make up for these two matches since imo every series on Death Battle deserves at least one amazing episode
I think the way Optimus holds the energon axe comes from Transformers Devastation, where he holds the axe in his hands. At least I think that’s he holds it. That’s what it looks like anyway

This is very similar to how I feel about Zelda vs peach and Ganondorf vs Dracula, I hate Zelda vs peach because it just shits on both characters so much in the analysis it hurts me so much, especially since there's so much more to Zelda than that and that episode just brings rage from me, easy 1/10. As for Ganondorf vs Dracula (and Ganon vs Bowser I guess) is just the fact that they use a character that vaguely looks like Ganondorf, it's smash gdorf with a few sword swings and electric beams, thankfully the Ganon portion is 100x better even if it's so short, I'm also not a fan of how he just seemed rather dumb and beastly throughout the fight which is not Ganondorf at all, with him being my favorite antagonist of all time I was definitely more disappointed with his run, it was still a good episode but it just wasn't a good Ganondorf episode.
This is a minor problem compared to everything else, but Starscream vs Rainbow Dash got Dash's characterization wrong. There were too many points where she was too silly. Like I don't really see Rainbow playing tag with Starscream, and I definitely don't see her eating his sparks. Those are things Pinkie would do and it felt like the writers mixed the 2 ponies up writing this episode. I might be missing more since I haven't watched this episode in years. Also I feel your pain man. This is exactly what I thought about Shadow in Shadow vs Mewtwo. Doesn't help that I also like Mewtwo and felt he was also wasted in that fight. Though I guess Shadow got some redemption, so hopefully Starscream gets one.
Watching this again out of boredom though it is a good video. One thing that I realized when watching this the second time is we really haven't had many transformers episodes, somehow MLP has had more and Death Battle for some reason hates that series. After this dawned on me, I started to wonder what Transformers characters we'd get next time besides Unicron and Megatron since those are the only ones I know that are well known and popular enough to get a Death Battle, with Unicron confirmed and Megatron likely fighting Frieza which I like the idea of on paper but it sounds like it'd be another case of them not getting the Transformer character and misrepresenting them. Honestly with that one video where you gave new matchups for each series that has been on Death Battle really made me want to see more Transformers fights since you managed to make three matchups with three different Starscreams and make them all seem unique. Hopefully you get some of the ones you want, and Death Battle portrays them well unlike with these two.

Welp. Looks like it finally broke. We finally have another episode that is as bad as Mewtwo VS Shadow. At least that episode's analysis was pretty decent, with Shadow not being disrespected at all by Wiz and Boomstick. ...That is the only positive I am giving this episode, fuck off. On a similar regard, Carnage, Luigi and even Ragna the Bloodedge were not THAT disrespected in one way or another. And that really sucks. And Mario VS Sonic (2018) felt like that to me. I'm happy Mario still won, but I just can't really enjoy it when he was really angry.
Great review. Here is my take on these episodes. Starscream vs Rainbow Dash: 1/10. Optimus Prime vs Gundam (objective rating): 9/10. Optimus Prime vs Gundam (subjective rating, because of nostalgia, Optimus Prime's introduction to Death Battle, the Optimus Prime W and this episode being what introduced me to Mobile Suit Gundam): 10/10. Fun fact: I wrote a 2-part long review of Optimus Prime vs Gundam in the comment section of that episode. Looking back on it, some of the things I said in the review don't hold up that well, but I'm still pretty proud of that review (and most of the outdated stuff are really minor, so my opinion of the episode barely changed) (I still really love that episode and as you saw, I still give it a 10/10, even if some of its flaws are a bit more clear now) and I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on it. Nem be like "fuck waiting for Unicron Vs Glactus Imma do this right now." I dunno how to feel about gundam vs optimus. There are some cool bits, but OP's voice actor was terrible. He sounded more like Meta Knight from Smash than Optimus. They also botched a couple aspects of the research, like treating OP's durability feat as a speed feat.
Watched the vid. I got more thoughts. Your analysis of Screamer Vs Rainbow Dash genuinely hurt to watch, not because I disagreed or anything, but it's really heartbreaking to hear you get that angry. Seeing as how they made Shredder the badass he usually is instead of the punchline he was in the 80's, they'd probably portray him better if he was brought back in a new episode. And yeah, OP Vs Gundam is overrated imo. I also found it weird how Optimus just started shit for no reason. Amaro did break into the ark, but you would at least think OP would try and talk to him first. I didn't even know he blew up the ark, that whole part of the animation was so vague I just thought he caused an explosion like what OP did with his gun. I liked the progression of the fight, how they destroy each others weapons over the course of it, and of course, that wheel kick was amazing, but I still walked away from that episode disappointed. He really should've fought Leader-1 anyway. Let's hope we get gobots vs transformers in Megatron Vs Cykill instead of the garbage hype vacuum that is Megatron Vs Frieza.

I was a huge transformers fan when I was younger, never really understood much of the lore but I had a shit ton of the toys and watched the movies. Now with that out of the way, you'd assume that Starscream Vs. Rainbow Dash being the first exposure of Death Battle to me wouldn't have sit right with me as a kid, and you'd be absolutely right.
I super understand the feeling of a character you love being misrepresented in Death Battle. I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way, but that's exactly how I felt about Steven Universe in his episode. Special mention as well to Scout, they did him so dirty.

You put perfectly, word for word, exactly how I felt about both of these episodes. I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, I genuinely feel DB is horrendous with how many things they get wrong and how they keep on doing it despite all the criticism. Their only merit was being among the first creators to intorudce this type of content to the platform. Other than that it's just poorly thought out, barely researched crap. I also feel like the execution of both episodes' fights had more cringe that could be mentioned, but I just don't feel like wasting my time on something as subpar as DB.

A series that means a lot to me represented in 2 episodes of Death Battle. One of those episodes has a character from that series get absolutely shit on and the other get sort of hyped up, where the fight scene has very little big hits from that one character and the few big hits there are get No-Cell’d by the other character while that other character gets several big hits that do major damage, where the one character gets one stated advantage that gets immediately circumvented immediately after it is utilized, where the one character is characterized as a brainless idiot who just attacks mindlessly in the general direction of the opponent the whole time, where the one character gets dunked on by their own attack allowing the other character to immediately kill them and win the battle, and that episode turning out to be one of my least favorite episodes of all time. I wonder what that episode could be…

I get where you're coming from when you feel that a franchise you like has been handled in a poor way. It sort of reminds me how people end up being disappointed by Bowser's characterization in Smash Bros, where he's played up as a brutish monster without showing off much of the arrogance that the character has become known for.
there's a massive problem with the Optimus episode too, the main thing is that the original Gundam is massive in comparison to the g1 Optimus prime. if it was Apex Optimus prime then it would actually be a closer fight and the matrix ending would make more sense, since that version of the matrix is what destroyed unicron in the marvel comics
Me being a gundam fan, having watched the Gundam VS Optimus fight, there's a lot more things wrong with it in my opinion. What bugs me the most though, is that the Gundam is his size when it should be twice that. but, i'll be honest, while this Optimus was portrayed poorly, i'll give it to him that he should win, simply because Cybertronians can counter most gundams with ease, but i know a few that can easily be a problem for either him, or the entire cybertronian race
I don't mind Starscream vs Rainbow Dash but I do agree that it has a lot of problems, but also pretty much none of the MLP Death Battle episodes have been any good. I agree that Starscream's analysis seems largely indifferent to him (just blindly listing off attributes and weapons) except for near the end where they mention that he absolutely fails at everything. When they say that most of his plans instantly go wrong, they show a clip where the failure of his plan was outside of his control. In that episode his plan failed because Blitzwing and Astrotrain double crossed him, if they hadn't then he would be fine. They also show panels of and feats from Kiss Players which is a big L in my book. I completely agree that Boomstick bashing the MLP universe is meanspirited and the fact that they keep doing it makes me wonder if they hate the franchise. I don't mind Starscream losing because G1 Starscream getting his scrap kicked in is sort of a running gag in the cartoon, but yes the fight is an absolute stomp. Starscream gets in only two hits and has one fun character moment, other than that he gets bodied by Rainbow. And the detail that they wouldn't have made the episode if someone found proof that Starscream could win is just plain awful. It doesn't help that the concept of this Death Battle was suggested by Pro "Because we only replayed the fun stages of Sonic Adventure 2, we warpped our perspective on the game as a whole" Jarred. And despite this battle being a joke battle according to some DB fans (which would just be two episodes after their last one), it really doesn't feel like one. I do owe this episode for introducing me to MLP, that doesn't change how bad the episode is. Optimus vs Gundam is good but not great in my opinion. Once again the analysis feels indifferent to the character, but this time to both characters. I agree that Optimus being the one who starts the fight and calling the Gundam vile is very out of character. As a matter of fact I think Optimus suffers from the same problems as Yoda in Yoda vs Micky or both Hulk and Broley in Hulk vs Broley where the character's entire dialog in the fight is almost just quoting their memorable lines. This was especially a problem with Lex vs Doom and Shao Khan vs Akuma where a badly acting actor quotes the character and Optimus definitely sounds bad. Nice work pointing out that the Gundam fired his gun 16 times before firing a 17th shot, he should have been out of ammo at that point. However for the most part the action is good and Wings of Iron is a solid track so I can't call the episode bad. I don't have as big a connection to Transformers as you (I am about to wrap up the Unicron Trilogy after having finished Prime, G1, Beast Wars/Machines, and the first two sagas in the WFC Trilogy) but I sympathize with you because my favorite franchises Sonic and Marvel got characters stomped on too.
Honestly, optimus being the aggressor in am abandoned arc with someone breaking in being mistaken as a decepticon (btw the head is very transformer like), I think was supposed to show Optimus had gone a bit stir crazy. Yeah I might seeing something they didn't intend, and even if I'm right the fact they didn't do a good job portraying it does show a bit of poor handling regardless, I'm just a guy with a theory...

Starscream vs Rainbow Dash is my second least favorite Death Battle to date (that I've seen) only surpassed by the awfulness that is Shadow vs MewTwo. Like you I am a massive Transformers fan still to this day. I haven't seen every continuity, but I am at least aware of the ones I haven't seen for myself. I grew up watching some g1 episodes and the 1986 movie, I absolutely love G1, and personally I do think it still holds up as a watchable cartoon today. Sure it might not be mind blowing, but it is cheesy 80s fun, and that's enough really. I have to say though, as time has gone on, I really think Prime has become my favorite series, and has my favorite version of Optimus Prime, I still love G1, but I guess I feel more invested in Prime. Oh on a side note, I never actually noticed that g1 had different sounds for when the characters transformed into vehicle, or the other way around. I definitely noticed that there were different transformation sounds, but I guess I never made the association that one was where they turned into vehicles, and the other was for turning back into robots. Neat. Back to Starscream vs Rainbow Dash, where do I even start? Yeah I completely agree that they totally represented the character of Starscream horribly, like isn't Death Battle supposed to take the characters at their best? But it really feels like they only took the worst parts of Starscream from G1 and put them all at the forefront. Honestly I barely even noticed that Starscream only got 2 hits in that did nothing, probably cause I was too frustrated to notice. Like they say that his null rays only affect machines. . . but we've seen Starscream fire normal lasers from those arm blasters too, and he would know if his null ray had no effect on organics, so why wouldn't he just fire the laser instead? They didn't even acknowledge this and it's frustrating because they just did that to make Starscream look like an idiot. Okay, yes I know Starscream is kind of an idiot in G1, but there was a pattern to his behavior, usually that his own arrogance lead to him making poor or rash choices, like when Starscream rebuilt the combaticons and used them to help him overthrow Megatron, that plan almost worked, but when it failed Starscream took it out on the combaticons refusing to accept responsibility and ruined his alliance with them, though he still managed to win back Megatron's favor in the end. Starscream is an idiot, but he isn't stupid. It's a really delicate balance, but Death Battle didn't even try to maintain it. Also yeah that story about Starscream and the anime girl really wasn't needed, but if they wanted to include that they could have at least made fun of Rainbow Dash's g3 incarnation or something. Boomstick's groaning, didn't bother me so much, I feel it kinda made sense for the character he's portraying, but maybe he should tone it down a bit. Oh yeah, this point may be biased but, Starscream really should have been the winner here in my opinion, and learning that they would have canned the episode if he won just makes it feel so much worse. They really disrespected the character here. Now Optimus vs Gundam. I do have some problems, but I still think I liked the episode more than you did. The characterization of Optimus was a bit off, and the voice acting wasn't great, but I kind of expected that, Death Battle kinda rarely portrays their combatants exceptionally well, they're usually pretty basic with their portrayals if we get one at all, so I do agree with a lot of your points, just they didn't bother me as much since I've come to expect this sort of thing from Death Battle. Also to be fair the Gundam did break into the ship and was clearly an intruder I can kinda excuse Optimus attacking him under those circumstances, it's not great, but it's something. Optimus mistaking him for a decepticon didn't bother me at all really, and the beam rifle thing, I get why it's an issue, but considering that they were only one shot over, I think they were trying to keep it at 16 shots they must have just miscounted somewhere. Unfortunate but not enough to ruin the episode. Optimus' line on the ark bothers me for completely different reasons than it does yours, like it's established that Optimus thinks the Gundam is a decepticon, but then he says "I have been in battle for countless aeons!" why would he say that to a decepticon soldier, who's been fighting the same war he has, and no doubt already would know who Optimus is? Now obviously we the viewer know that the Gundam isn't a decepticon, but if Optimus thinks he is, why would he say that? It makes no sense. Optimus holding his energon axe that way, I actually have seen that done before in a Transformers product, the Transformers Earth Wars mobile game (they did the same thing with Megatron's mace too), which did come out before this episode aired. It's at least possible that they used that as a reference, however at least the mobile game had the decency to give the axe a handle in the trailer, kind of. ua-cam.com/video/mwIla-biYxQ/v-deo.html Sure it's cooler when it comes out of his arm instead of him holding it, but it technically has happened before. My last problem with the episode is, just how the matrix is used. First they imply that Optimus would have won without the matrix anyway, so why did the fight make it look like he was about to lose without it? Just to build suspense? That's lame. Furthermore, the matrix really isn't a weapon that Optimus can use any time he wants too. It's basically a, well a deus ex machina, something to be used at the last second when all other options have been exhausted, the reason it works so well is because of how it's tied into the lore of the Transformers and their universe. Optimus can't just activate it as an instant win move whenever he wants too, and I don't think a fight with a human in a mech suit qualifies as a "darkest hour" kind of moment. While we're on the topic, I like where some of the more modern series are taking the Matrix, like there's actual consequences to using it sometimes, in Prime Optimus lost his memories, and in Cyberverse Optimus was put into a sort of coma where he had to escape from a dream prison of sorts (okay admittingly they didn't show this very well or explain what it was, but at least it was something). So yeah, that shouldn't have been how the battle ended. Okay, I think that's pretty much it for my gripes. If there's one thing we both agree on, Wings of Iron is amazing, and yes it is also my favorite Death Battle track to date. Sure, maybe that's my 80's rock style bias showing but I don't care, I love this track. The Touch by Stan Bush is probably my favorite song ever, so the fact that this track gives me similar vibes, it's just great.
i think death battle should do more TF episodes... with the characters from their universes and not just every universe combined into one to make the abomination that is the beast. If they do a shockwave episode, then they should call it either idw Shockwave or G1 Shockwave, bc if not then tidalwave´s stats should also count since tidalwave is shockwave in the JP dub of armada

I'm a bit late to this, but, I did wanna throw my 2 cents into the discussion, as a huge fan of Gundam. First and foremost, I don't think the RX78-2 had any hope of defeating Optimus, no matter the version. Mobile Suits of that Era were much more... limited. It's why pilots like Amuro and Char stood out. They could get their machines to move in ways that seemed almost human. In contrast, that humanoid movement is much more fluid to Optimus (and cybertronians as a whole) give him a huge advantage. When your opponent struggles to turn around, you have a massive advantage going in. Next up, design. While Mobile Suits are usually designed with the idea of space combat in mind, they can fight on Earth fairly well, too. It just limits their mobility... not that it mattered, again, I doubt that the RX78-2 could defeat Optimus in a fair fight. Anywho, just thought I'd chime in, I liked your breakdown, and, if you like Transformers, maybe consider checking out Gundam. It's not for everyone, but, if you ever need a guide, hit me up, and I'll do my best.
I am disappointed by being reminded that Optimus vs Gundam wasn't as good as I remembered. I feel it was hyped by Wings of Iron and the fact that the fight was just badass but yeah the characterization is just bleh for Optimus. Also I watched a retrospective of the actual IDW comics and yeah not even that version of him is that bad at all. He's actually pretty cool despite some dumb moments
Honestly I feel the opposite about Starscream vs Rainbow Dash I was a huge Starscream fan when I first saw the episode. Loved him in the original movie and really enjoyed him in the original show, and there was a point where I had him placed in my top 50 favorite characters of all time. I had no clue who Rainbow Dash was, but I was 10 when the episode came out and I assumed it was gonna suck because Starscream was fighting a pony Needless to say, that episode was highly impressionable on me and now Rainbow Dash is in my top 10 favorite fictional characters ever. I still really like Starscream, but instead of getting mad at the episode because of how Starscream got bodied, it made me a huge fan of Rainbow Dash. I just find it interesting how we both have completely opposite views of the episode despite how we both really enjoy Starscream! Despite its faults, this episode is absolutely my favorite of season 1 and is more important to me in other ways that would make this comment way longer than it needs to be.
I want to like Starscream vs Rainbow Dash. I love how Rainbow's characterized, she's probably my favourite character in Season 1, as a former brony. I love her additude, her voice actress did a great job, and she felt entertaining all throughout. But god damn it absolutely did not need to come at the cost of how they characterized Starscream. I'm not a huge fan of the character (from the media I've seen being the movies and Animated [the show's based btw]), but even I am fully aware how smart and manipulative the character is. He is not THIS dumb. And like, I would brush it off, if he WASN'T the focus of the episode. He gets so much more screen time than Rainbow despite the fact that this is likely done to add hype to Friendship is Magic. It's another one of those whacky and interesting matchups of season 1 that doesn't consist of video game characters or iconic heroes from Marvel or Star Wars. FiM just finished it's first season at the time, making this feel like a prototype version of Yang vs Tifa and Tracer vs Scout. But both Tifa and Scout weren't treated THIS badly! Bad episode. Please make Discord vs Bill Cypher better. Also about that "Vile Decepticon" line. I also don't like the line but for a different reason. I was one of those people back in the day where I didn't bother with the analysis segment unless it's someone I love like Ratchet and Clank or Twilight. Meaning I don't bother seeing the stats given to the characters and I don't have a clue on what the team thinks will win until the end. This line basically spoils the winner. "I've been in battle for countless eons." It's basically Optimus straight up telling Gundam that he does not stand a fucking chance. Still love the episode but fuck this line.
starscream should've won through the fact that he is an expert on both long-ranged weaponry and close combat through all of the series. Close combat through the unicron trilogy, of course.

When I first saw that as a teen, I felt it was really weird for that rainbow dash one. Why not have rainbow dash fight Sonic since that would've been fine and have sonic fight Mario later in season 1?

Also, when Biff Weed talked about Starscream VS Rainbow, he mentioned that whole 'episode being cancelled with Rainbow Dash losing thing', he said that he could only imagine how frustrating it would be for a Transformers fan.
I am certainly aware, he might not be SPECIFICALLY talking about Nemesis, but it just felt right in this context considering besides the mistake and Mewtwo VS Shadow, that is his least favorite DEATH BATTLE! episode of all time.
Wanted to talk about this ever since I watched Biff's Season 1 Ranking and just waited on that little note to spread what he said around it.
I won't try to defend Starscream vs. Rainbow Dash. But I do want to call out two things about it:
1) Jim Sterling was the voice of Starscream.
2) This episode felt like their way of introducing My Little Pony as serious, powerhouse contenders, rather than (like Boomstick) handwaving them as harmless kid cartoons.
In retrospect, it really does feel like a hit piece, on par with Deadpool vs. the Mask.
Gundam VS Optimus is my favorite episode of Death Battle. Optimus Prime is one of my favorite characters, and Gundam is my all time favorite franchise, so watch those 2 in a Death Battle episode, it felt like childhood dream of mine finally being realized.

I love Kill La Kill and I also wanted Shadow to get a win for once, but Shadow finally getting a win in a absolutely one-sided match that anyone could predict just hurt for me, especially because it was Ryuko that they had to throw under the bus for Shadow's win.
Eh, I disagree a little. I think Ryuko was thrown under the bus in terms of characterization, but the animation itself didn't portray the fight as a stomp. Whereas RD vs SS just had Starscream getting shat on all match. Ryuko even almost kills Shadow with the scissor blade thing. I'm not particularly a fan of Kill La Kill or Transformers so forgive my ignorance.
Yeah while I was very happy with Shadow winning but at what cost of Ryuko? She didn’t have a good Analysis, didn’t pay much attention to Senketsu and butchered her character. The sound design isn’t all that great too. But I still really want to like the episode and I refuse to put it below Lex vs Doom, Blake vs Mikasa and Akuma vs Shao Khan
I’m kind of mixed on that episode because while the quality of the animation is really good and I’m at least happy that Shadow finally won, they really did Ryuko dirty in this episode with the way she’s written as well as giving her one of the lamest deaths in the series.
Honestly, I love Optimus vs Gundam but my main issue, as a hard-core fan of the original 79 show and the whole Amuro-Char saga in general alongside G1 and IDW Optimus, I felt pretty disappointed in how Amuro was portrayed. He was mostly just treated like "The Pilot" and nothing else, there was no real say on his true character; how he originally was indifferent about war, and how he grew to understand the horror and pain of it but also came out realizing how to not let that define him or humanity in general, to not let their souls be weighed down by gravity and hatred and grow to understand eachother.
Like obviously I wasn't expecting them to include his entire story but I do actually feel like it effects the fight. The Amuro they're using is piloting RX-78-2, which is fine, but they're using Amuro during Chars Counterattack according to their analysis, at least in terms of skills. And while I understand Optimus vs RX-78-2 is the most famous matchup, it feels kinda weird not to give Amuro the Nu-Gundam from CC or even mention it.
It would've been super cool if Optimus and Amuro were dueling on the arch and when Optimus blasts him in just the right place, knocking off the Gundam's head, we see Amuro do his Last Shooting pose from the end of the series and fire off a shot which destroys the arch. Optimus and The Gundam are knocked back, Optimus lands on a nearby asteroid and Amuro gets out of the Gundam and then the Nu-Gundam comes flying in being controlled by Amuro's newtype connection, he gets in and they continue the fight. I understand that it may just not have been in the budget to include it but like Ben 10 vs Green Lantern, if you can't do something essential for the character, why do it.
Now that's not to say I don't like this episode more than Ben 10 vs Green Lantern. I love this episode overall but I do think both characters could've been represented better

I feel like the only real Gundams that could take on Optimus would be Unicorn Gundam and any of its Models just because it literally becomes Space Jesus being able to do the impossible and Turn A not only for its power on its own with a literal black hole generator that powers it, but also the Moonlight Butterfly which literally destroys anything technological save itself. I think in general it was pretty shitty that they made of all things the Gundam face off Optimus compared to any other mecha like the Jaegers, the Evangelion Units, or Getter which would all be somewhat fairer fights
As much as I like the latter of the two fights I understand how you feel. I know the entire point is to have the fights lead to the death from peaceful characters but still your supposed to come to death bee see title to see your favorite character act in an impossible crossover so when that’s misrepresented I see why one would get mad.

You got me feeling really bad for you for how they treated Starscream like how I feel bad for fans of Michelangelo, Luigi, Carnage and Shadow with the latter being a very important character for me as he was the 1st video game character I ever played as. Ok so Starscream vs Rainbowdash hurt the StarScream fanboy in me because THAT was not Starscream that was the worst depiction of Starscream i have ever seen in my life, starscream would not have been bodied this badly and by something that he could have mutilated in 0.5 seconds flat at WORST. Its a complete mess of an episode and it doesnt even deserve the rank of a joke fight this was just straight up pain. Now Optimus vs Gundam was also something i cant watch again because of Optimus alone. As you said it felt like this was bayformers Prime in the Inactive shell of G1 because why the hell is Optimus just chilling on the ark alone and not helping his team, why is he attacking unprevoked, WHY IS HE SAYING ALL THESE MURDEROUS LINES THAT BAYFORMERS prime would say, why is this even a fight in all honesty. The real Prime would be calm and logical asking what the Gundam is doing on the ark and asking questions not going straight for the "I'm going to slaughter you" tactic, Optimus believes in Freedom is the right of all sentient beings but here it just felt like this was more Megatron than Optimus like I know Optimus can be like this if he's pushed to do so out of anger because of one of his own dying (Like in Prime when Megatron killed Bumblebee and Optimus went into a fit of rage) it just felt like Death battle was just half arsing it the whole way through and went "we will only care a little" which really sucks cause if they ever bring in another Cybertronion into death battle whats to stop them from doing the same half arse tactic they did for Optimus and even more with Starscream.

I can understand why, because it's almost exactly what happened for me in the other episode that you gave a 1 out of 10 (minus the killing himself part, but the humiliating death part still holds up).
Honestly I can relate a lot with a series you love being done a bit dirty though it's in different ways. For me the series was Ben 10 which suffered a combination of the problems who have with the Optimus Prime match and just massive amount of missed potential. I honestly hope for ya they do a Transformers match that can at least make up for these two matches since imo every series on Death Battle deserves at least one amazing episode

This is very similar to how I feel about Zelda vs peach and Ganondorf vs Dracula, I hate Zelda vs peach because it just shits on both characters so much in the analysis it hurts me so much, especially since there's so much more to Zelda than that and that episode just brings rage from me, easy 1/10. As for Ganondorf vs Dracula (and Ganon vs Bowser I guess) is just the fact that they use a character that vaguely looks like Ganondorf, it's smash gdorf with a few sword swings and electric beams, thankfully the Ganon portion is 100x better even if it's so short, I'm also not a fan of how he just seemed rather dumb and beastly throughout the fight which is not Ganondorf at all, with him being my favorite antagonist of all time I was definitely more disappointed with his run, it was still a good episode but it just wasn't a good Ganondorf episode.
This is a minor problem compared to everything else, but Starscream vs Rainbow Dash got Dash's characterization wrong. There were too many points where she was too silly. Like I don't really see Rainbow playing tag with Starscream, and I definitely don't see her eating his sparks. Those are things Pinkie would do and it felt like the writers mixed the 2 ponies up writing this episode. I might be missing more since I haven't watched this episode in years.
Also I feel your pain man. This is exactly what I thought about Shadow in Shadow vs Mewtwo. Doesn't help that I also like Mewtwo and felt he was also wasted in that fight. Though I guess Shadow got some redemption, so hopefully Starscream gets one.
Watching this again out of boredom though it is a good video. One thing that I realized when watching this the second time is we really haven't had many transformers episodes, somehow MLP has had more and Death Battle for some reason hates that series. After this dawned on me, I started to wonder what Transformers characters we'd get next time besides Unicron and Megatron since those are the only ones I know that are well known and popular enough to get a Death Battle, with Unicron confirmed and Megatron likely fighting Frieza which I like the idea of on paper but it sounds like it'd be another case of them not getting the Transformer character and misrepresenting them. Honestly with that one video where you gave new matchups for each series that has been on Death Battle really made me want to see more Transformers fights since you managed to make three matchups with three different Starscreams and make them all seem unique. Hopefully you get some of the ones you want, and Death Battle portrays them well unlike with these two.

Welp. Looks like it finally broke. We finally have another episode that is as bad as Mewtwo VS Shadow. At least that episode's analysis was pretty decent, with Shadow not being disrespected at all by Wiz and Boomstick.

On a similar regard, Carnage, Luigi and even Ragna the Bloodedge were not THAT disrespected in one way or another. And that really sucks.

Optimus Prime vs Gundam (subjective rating, because of nostalgia, Optimus Prime's introduction to Death Battle, the Optimus Prime W and this episode being what introduced me to Mobile Suit Gundam): 10/10.
Fun fact: I wrote a 2-part long review of Optimus Prime vs Gundam in the comment section of that episode. Looking back on it, some of the things I said in the review don't hold up that well, but I'm still pretty proud of that review (and most of the outdated stuff are really minor, so my opinion of the episode barely changed) (I still really love that episode and as you saw, I still give it a 10/10, even if some of its flaws are a bit more clear now) and I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on it.

I dunno how to feel about gundam vs optimus. There are some cool bits, but OP's voice actor was terrible. He sounded more like Meta Knight from Smash than Optimus. They also botched a couple aspects of the research, like treating OP's durability feat as a speed feat.

Your analysis of Screamer Vs Rainbow Dash genuinely hurt to watch, not because I disagreed or anything, but it's really heartbreaking to hear you get that angry. Seeing as how they made Shredder the badass he usually is instead of the punchline he was in the 80's, they'd probably portray him better if he was brought back in a new episode.
And yeah, OP Vs Gundam is overrated imo. I also found it weird how Optimus just started shit for no reason. Amaro did break into the ark, but you would at least think OP would try and talk to him first.
I didn't even know he blew up the ark, that whole part of the animation was so vague I just thought he caused an explosion like what OP did with his gun.
I liked the progression of the fight, how they destroy each others weapons over the course of it, and of course, that wheel kick was amazing, but I still walked away from that episode disappointed. He really should've fought Leader-1 anyway. Let's hope we get gobots vs transformers in Megatron Vs Cykill instead of the garbage hype vacuum that is Megatron Vs Frieza.

I was a huge transformers fan when I was younger, never really understood much of the lore but I had a shit ton of the toys and watched the movies.
Now with that out of the way, you'd assume that Starscream Vs. Rainbow Dash being the first exposure of Death Battle to me wouldn't have sit right with me as a kid, and you'd be absolutely right.

I super understand the feeling of a character you love being misrepresented in Death Battle. I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way, but that's exactly how I felt about Steven Universe in his episode. Special mention as well to Scout, they did him so dirty.

You put perfectly, word for word, exactly how I felt about both of these episodes. I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, I genuinely feel DB is horrendous with how many things they get wrong and how they keep on doing it despite all the criticism. Their only merit was being among the first creators to intorudce this type of content to the platform. Other than that it's just poorly thought out, barely researched crap.
I also feel like the execution of both episodes' fights had more cringe that could be mentioned, but I just don't feel like wasting my time on something as subpar as DB.

Oof, while I like everything about Optimus Prime vs Gundam, even the things you dislike, I can understand why you would not like it so much. But I see what you mean, if one of my favorite characters got into Death Battle and their character was not done the justice it should be given (or just actively trashed on in both the fight and analysis, like Starscream and Shadow), I'd be pretty pissed. Anyway, good video, even if you seemed more negative than the score you gave.

A series that means a lot to me represented in 2 episodes of Death Battle. One of those episodes has a character from that series get absolutely shit on and the other get sort of hyped up, where the fight scene has very little big hits from that one character and the few big hits there are get No-Cell’d by the other character while that other character gets several big hits that do major damage, where the one character gets one stated advantage that gets immediately circumvented immediately after it is utilized, where the one character is characterized as a brainless idiot who just attacks mindlessly in the general direction of the opponent the whole time, where the one character gets dunked on by their own attack allowing the other character to immediately kill them and win the battle, and that episode turning out to be one of my least favorite episodes of all time. I wonder what that episode could be…

I used to like Rainbow dash vs starscream but when biff weed mentioned the fact that if starscream won they wouldn't have done it I was sad and didn't like it anymore. I get where you're coming from when you feel that a franchise you like has been handled in a poor way. It sort of reminds me how people end up being disappointed by Bowser's characterization in Smash Bros, where he's played up as a brutish monster without showing off much of the arrogance that the character has become known for.
Maybe one day we get a Power Rangers vs Transformers battle to save this series.

there's a massive problem with the Optimus episode too, the main thing is that the original Gundam is massive in comparison to the g1 Optimus prime. if it was Apex Optimus prime then it would actually be a closer fight and the matrix ending would make more sense, since that version of the matrix is what destroyed unicron in the marvel comics
Me being a gundam fan, having watched the Gundam VS Optimus fight, there's a lot more things wrong with it in my opinion. What bugs me the most though, is that the Gundam is his size when it should be twice that. but, i'll be honest, while this Optimus was portrayed poorly, i'll give it to him that he should win, simply because Cybertronians can counter most gundams with ease, but i know a few that can easily be a problem for either him, or the entire cybertronian race
So glad not everyone gushes over the Optimus Episode.

I don't mind Starscream vs Rainbow Dash but I do agree that it has a lot of problems, but also pretty much none of the MLP Death Battle episodes have been any good. I agree that Starscream's analysis seems largely indifferent to him (just blindly listing off attributes and weapons) except for near the end where they mention that he absolutely fails at everything. When they say that most of his plans instantly go wrong, they show a clip where the failure of his plan was outside of his control. In that episode his plan failed because Blitzwing and Astrotrain double crossed him, if they hadn't then he would be fine. They also show panels of and feats from Kiss Players which is a big L in my book. I completely agree that Boomstick bashing the MLP universe is meanspirited and the fact that they keep doing it makes me wonder if they hate the franchise. I don't mind Starscream losing because G1 Starscream getting his scrap kicked in is sort of a running gag in the cartoon, but yes the fight is an absolute stomp. Starscream gets in only two hits and has one fun character moment, other than that he gets bodied by Rainbow. And the detail that they wouldn't have made the episode if someone found proof that Starscream could win is just plain awful. It doesn't help that the concept of this Death Battle was suggested by Pro "Because we only replayed the fun stages of Sonic Adventure 2, we warpped our perspective on the game as a whole" Jarred. And despite this battle being a joke battle according to some DB fans (which would just be two episodes after their last one), it really doesn't feel like one. I do owe this episode for introducing me to MLP, that doesn't change how bad the episode is.
Optimus vs Gundam is good but not great in my opinion. Once again the analysis feels indifferent to the character, but this time to both characters. I agree that Optimus being the one who starts the fight and calling the Gundam vile is very out of character. As a matter of fact I think Optimus suffers from the same problems as Yoda in Yoda vs Micky or both Hulk and Broley in Hulk vs Broley where the character's entire dialog in the fight is almost just quoting their memorable lines. This was especially a problem with Lex vs Doom and Shao Khan vs Akuma where a badly acting actor quotes the character and Optimus definitely sounds bad. Nice work pointing out that the Gundam fired his gun 16 times before firing a 17th shot, he should have been out of ammo at that point. However for the most part the action is good and Wings of Iron is a solid track so I can't call the episode bad. I don't have as big a connection to Transformers as you (I am about to wrap up the Unicron Trilogy after having finished Prime, G1, Beast Wars/Machines, and the first two sagas in the WFC Trilogy) but I sympathize with you because my favorite franchises Sonic and Marvel got characters stomped on too.

Honestly, optimus being the aggressor in am abandoned arc with someone breaking in being mistaken as a decepticon (btw the head is very transformer like), I think was supposed to show Optimus had gone a bit stir crazy.

Starscream vs Rainbow Dash is my second least favorite Death Battle to date (that I've seen) only surpassed by the awfulness that is Shadow vs MewTwo.
Like you I am a massive Transformers fan still to this day. I haven't seen every continuity, but I am at least aware of the ones I haven't seen for myself. I grew up watching some g1 episodes and the 1986 movie, I absolutely love G1, and personally I do think it still holds up as a watchable cartoon today. Sure it might not be mind blowing, but it is cheesy 80s fun, and that's enough really.
I have to say though, as time has gone on, I really think Prime has become my favorite series, and has my favorite version of Optimus Prime, I still love G1, but I guess I feel more invested in Prime.
Oh on a side note, I never actually noticed that g1 had different sounds for when the characters transformed into vehicle, or the other way around. I definitely noticed that there were different transformation sounds, but I guess I never made the association that one was where they turned into vehicles, and the other was for turning back into robots. Neat.
Back to Starscream vs Rainbow Dash, where do I even start? Yeah I completely agree that they totally represented the character of Starscream horribly, like isn't Death Battle supposed to take the characters at their best? But it really feels like they only took the worst parts of Starscream from G1 and put them all at the forefront. Honestly I barely even noticed that Starscream only got 2 hits in that did nothing, probably cause I was too frustrated to notice. Like they say that his null rays only affect machines. . . but we've seen Starscream fire normal lasers from those arm blasters too, and he would know if his null ray had no effect on organics, so why wouldn't he just fire the laser instead? They didn't even acknowledge this and it's frustrating because they just did that to make Starscream look like an idiot.
Okay, yes I know Starscream is kind of an idiot in G1, but there was a pattern to his behavior, usually that his own arrogance lead to him making poor or rash choices, like when Starscream rebuilt the combaticons and used them to help him overthrow Megatron, that plan almost worked, but when it failed Starscream took it out on the combaticons refusing to accept responsibility and ruined his alliance with them, though he still managed to win back Megatron's favor in the end.
Starscream is an idiot, but he isn't stupid. It's a really delicate balance, but Death Battle didn't even try to maintain it.
Also yeah that story about Starscream and the anime girl really wasn't needed, but if they wanted to include that they could have at least made fun of Rainbow Dash's g3 incarnation or something.
Boomstick's groaning, didn't bother me so much, I feel it kinda made sense for the character he's portraying, but maybe he should tone it down a bit.
Oh yeah, this point may be biased but, Starscream really should have been the winner here in my opinion, and learning that they would have canned the episode if he won just makes it feel so much worse. They really disrespected the character here.
Now Optimus vs Gundam. I do have some problems, but I still think I liked the episode more than you did.
The characterization of Optimus was a bit off, and the voice acting wasn't great, but I kind of expected that, Death Battle kinda rarely portrays their combatants exceptionally well, they're usually pretty basic with their portrayals if we get one at all, so I do agree with a lot of your points, just they didn't bother me as much since I've come to expect this sort of thing from Death Battle. Also to be fair the Gundam did break into the ship and was clearly an intruder I can kinda excuse Optimus attacking him under those circumstances, it's not great, but it's something.
Optimus mistaking him for a decepticon didn't bother me at all really, and the beam rifle thing, I get why it's an issue, but considering that they were only one shot over, I think they were trying to keep it at 16 shots they must have just miscounted somewhere. Unfortunate but not enough to ruin the episode.
Optimus' line on the ark bothers me for completely different reasons than it does yours, like it's established that Optimus thinks the Gundam is a decepticon, but then he says "I have been in battle for countless aeons!" why would he say that to a decepticon soldier, who's been fighting the same war he has, and no doubt already would know who Optimus is? Now obviously we the viewer know that the Gundam isn't a decepticon, but if Optimus thinks he is, why would he say that? It makes no sense.
Optimus holding his energon axe that way, I actually have seen that done before in a Transformers product, the Transformers Earth Wars mobile game (they did the same thing with Megatron's mace too), which did come out before this episode aired. Sure it's cooler when it comes out of his arm instead of him holding it, but it technically has happened before.
My last problem with the episode is, just how the matrix is used. First they imply that Optimus would have won without the matrix anyway, so why did the fight make it look like he was about to lose without it? Just to build suspense? That's lame. Furthermore, the matrix really isn't a weapon that Optimus can use any time he wants too. It's basically a, well a deus ex machina, something to be used at the last second when all other options have been exhausted, the reason it works so well is because of how it's tied into the lore of the Transformers and their universe. Optimus can't just activate it as an instant win move whenever he wants too, and I don't think a fight with a human in a mech suit qualifies as a "darkest hour" kind of moment. While we're on the topic, I like where some of the more modern series are taking the Matrix, like there's actual consequences to using it sometimes, in Prime Optimus lost his memories, and in Cyberverse Optimus was put into a sort of coma where he had to escape from a dream prison of sorts (okay admittingly they didn't show this very well or explain what it was, but at least it was something). So yeah, that shouldn't have been how the battle ended. Okay, I think that's pretty much it for my gripes.
If there's one thing we both agree on, Wings of Iron is amazing, and yes it is also my favorite Death Battle track to date. Sure, maybe that's my 80's rock style bias showing but I don't care, I love this track. The Touch by Stan Bush is probably my favorite song ever, so the fact that this track gives me similar vibes, it's just great.
i think death battle should do more TF episodes... with the characters from their universes and not just every universe combined into one to make the abomination that is the beast. If they do a shockwave episode, then they should call it either idw Shockwave or G1 Shockwave, bc if not then tidalwave´s stats should also count since tidalwave is shockwave in the JP dub of armada

I'm a bit late to this, but, I did wanna throw my 2 cents into the discussion, as a huge fan of Gundam.
First and foremost, I don't think the RX78-2 had any hope of defeating Optimus, no matter the version. Mobile Suits of that Era were much more... limited. It's why pilots like Amuro and Char stood out. They could get their machines to move in ways that seemed almost human. In contrast, that humanoid movement is much more fluid to Optimus (and cybertronians as a whole) give him a huge advantage. When your opponent struggles to turn around, you have a massive advantage going in.
Next up, design. While Mobile Suits are usually designed with the idea of space combat in mind, they can fight on Earth fairly well, too. It just limits their mobility... not that it mattered, again, I doubt that the RX78-2 could defeat Optimus in a fair fight.
Anywho, just thought I'd chime in, I liked your breakdown, and, if you like Transformers, maybe consider checking out Gundam. It's not for everyone, but, if you ever need a guide, hit me up, and I'll do my best.

I was a huge Starscream fan when I first saw the episode. Loved him in the original movie and really enjoyed him in the original show, and there was a point where I had him placed in my top 50 favorite characters of all time. I had no clue who Rainbow Dash was, but I was 10 when the episode came out and I assumed it was gonna suck because Starscream was fighting a pony
Needless to say, that episode was highly impressionable on me and now Rainbow Dash is in my top 10 favorite fictional characters ever. I still really like Starscream, but instead of getting mad at the episode because of how Starscream got bodied, it made me a huge fan of Rainbow Dash. I just find it interesting how we both have completely opposite views of the episode despite how we both really enjoy Starscream!

It's another one of those whacky and interesting matchups of season 1 that doesn't consist of video game characters or iconic heroes from Marvel or Star Wars. FiM just finished it's first season at the time, making this feel like a prototype version of Yang vs Tifa and Tracer vs Scout. But both Tifa and Scout weren't treated THIS badly! Bad episode. Please make Discord vs Bill Cypher better.
Also about that "Vile Decepticon" line. I also don't like the line but for a different reason. I was one of those people back in the day where I didn't bother with the analysis segment unless it's someone I love like Ratchet and Clank or Twilight. Meaning I don't bother seeing the stats given to the characters and I don't have a clue on what the team thinks will win until the end. This line basically spoils the winner. "I've been in battle for countless eons." It's basically Optimus straight up telling Gundam that he does not stand a fucking chance. Still love the episode but fuck this line.
