This song was released ~17 years before I was even born but despite that, I'm still glad that I found this song. The production is genuinely out of this world and still far ahead of it's time. Incredible.
This sounded brilliant back in the early 90s. Still sounds brilliant. Hasn't dated one bit to my mind. What strikes me about 808 State compared to a lot of stuff that came after is the lightness of touch. The groove makes you want to dance without massive pounding kicks or heavily compressed/distorted sounds. It's more about a hypnotic shifting flow, syncopated rhythms and synth lines that seem to weave around everything.
