We have been stuck with GoPro giving marginal upgrades every year, I think it's good to have a new player in the market. Honestly insta360's stabilization is NOT BAD.
Absolutely, I love go pro's but is nice to have a new interesting tiny action camera now! for introverts who don't want to be seen taking videos this does wonders
@@Triadii or people who just simply don't want to be too obvious filming other people. Wouldn't limit it to just "introverts" who don't want to be seen taking videos.
The necklace mount is actually my favorite one. Because it's the only one that does not require your hands. Being hands free is amazing for a lot of situations. It's also a kind of "standby" mode. You're ready to record anytime without having to reach out to your pocket or backpack. The cap mount is nice too, but I usually don't wear a cap.
is it strong enough if u use it while cycling? And what about the footage? Is shaky or something? I’m planning to buy one of this, really appreciate it if u could answers me
This is my favorite one too. I do not know why the author think this is the most useless one of there. It is useful for many things. basically anything you need to film with both of hand free. I can think of cooking, product showcase, behind scene or just walking in the street. This accessory is so much fun. I like this the most.
Basic can vary, sometimes it's not horrible (such as when my entire body is stabilizing on a chest mount), but anything hard-mounted is unusable, and even hand-held can be rough. But yeah, FOV changes afterwards is awesome. Albeit, it does tend to squish some things a bit, but I appreciate it nonetheless!
I agree with most of what you said except the mounts. I ended up buy 2 Go 1s to manage a day at the bike park., due to internal memory and battery. When I grab my cameras the pendant was one of the things that always came with the camera. It takes up no room and it doesn’t always have to be worn on your chest. You can stick it to a backpack or your shorts. Sometimes I’d even put it up on my shoulder. I felt it was secure enough for many things, including a few sessions of fast go-karts. However, at the bike park or anything where it might get bumped or scraped off, no strength of magnet could convince me it was safe. I always used the gopro style mount. As far as mounts being “huge”, there’s more to the story than that. I stopped wearing my gopro chesty because my body position and the weight of the camera were too much to keep the camera in place without having the straps suffocating you tight. With the Go, the camera is light enough that even a blown out chesty will keep it stable enough for flowstate to work it’s magic. And I don’t know about you, but my bikes, and my kids bikes, are all aluminum or carbon so I’d never think to slap it on like that. I don’t think it’s fair to expect a flat magnet to stick to a round tube anyways.
Thank you for covering the USB-C issue in your review. It only chargers with USB-A to USB-C cable, because its missing two resistors in the plug. Common with many manufacturers switching from Micro-USB.
Appreciate your honest, detailed, long term reviews Ray. They are like a breath of fresh air in the murky world of dubious paid for content all over YT these days.

This is by far the best review of this product that I have seen -- VERY well done. I hope the creators watch your video and use some of your suggests for improvement!
Great job pointing out the flaws -- unlike many other reviews. I think the pendant/chest mount is a great option, however, for those of us who want to show that POV for DIY/how-to or many other low-action activities (driving, walking, riding bikes/scooters on pavement, etc.) Also, while the 30 minute limitation isn't that great (I agree, they should have put 64GB in there), can't you just dump the video on your phone, remove from the device, and you're good to go for another 30?
Thanks! Definitely can offload, though, if you're like me, dumping off 32GB of content to my phone means I need to actually have 32GB of space there. Also, that'll take a heck of a long time via WiFi (since, it's not a super fast connection). Not to mention, I don't find it a terribly reliable connection. It often fails.
@@Dcrainmaker Hi! Now they have 64gb available and i just bought it few days ago! This GO 2(64gb) blew my mind! I may never go back to gopro hero unless they make Session 6(i own Session 5 for a while) and i don't know why gopro don't make session anymore and very focus on making gopro hero.
My thoughts are, if I'm doing a run for a marathon 42kms or trail running 3-4 hours lets say, can u imagine dumping video to ph every 30mins plus what about time it takes to recharge? Im struggling to find an action camera for road & trail running with a battery that can last for hours, say 1 - 4 or even 5 hours. I was looking at the Drift Ghost XL, that one has 8hrs 37mins battery life in one battery charge.
sorry but I would disagree with the pendant. As someone who host tv shows here in asia, is great to have the pendant hidden under my shirt and using a front pov to shoot the traveling sites with my both hands free to do something else, also I would be just walking around and not running. So yes, i agree it might not be suitable to fast sports or having a lot of hiking gear that would bump the camera out, but for daily activities, it is hands free great first POV mode. Even working out is amazing, weight lifting with a mirror in front of you. So many thing we can do with the pendant that I could write a book here. Very handy.
I find the pendent really useful. If you want to record a person's perspective for normal walking, running and going about doing stuff kind of video it's very unobtrusive and doesn't make you look like a cameraman with straps and velcro wrapping all over your torso. Its also good for hanging the Go to places like trees and other non magnetic things. It's a useful accessory and it's build quality is very good. It doesn't bother you even if you wear it when you're out for a jog.
As someone who has always dreamed of having a GoPro i think I would actually prefer the Insta360 Go2! I'm not a huge camera nerd, I just need good enough quality for quick social media stuff without having my obvious phone out. Im a very shy recorder and tend to hide the fact that I'm recording
3:50 Yes, USB-PD can get pretty complicated. But for the usecase here, to ensure 5V charging over C2C cables, all they'd need are two 5.1 kΩ resistors between each of the CC pins and the ground pin of the USB-C receptacle. That is not complicated and also not expensive, and just a major design flaw with this product. Insta360 should be called out for this.
I'm glad you tested with different C-C cables and let the world know. Sadly, a lot of people will not care, as they just see USB-C as a replacement for microUSB as a phone charging port. But USB-C is so much more; so awesome and versatile. it's a shame faulty implementations like this exist. And it is harmful for the entire USB-C ecosystem, as people realize something doesn't work (e.g charging C-C ), even if the connector seems to fit, and they then blame it on USB-C being defective or bad, instead of blaming the manufacturers.
One can only hope... but I haven't seen much feedback on the issue apart from this rather small reviewer. The big YTbers covering the Go 2 (LMG, MKBHD, Mrwhostheboss ...) don't mention it at all

Well i guess we will have to wait and see how the GO 3 turns out. Thank you for yet another great informative video with all the information I needed to decide my purchase.
Thanks! Yeah, while I suspect for most freshwater fishing you'd probably be fine with the pendant and thinner clothing, I agree that the battery life - but actually probably more storage space, would be your main limiter.
@@Dcrainmaker Ohh yeah i forgot about the limited storage, that´s another deal breaker. I ordered the 3 mount extra kit but have yet to use any of them in the 4 months I have owned this camera. Only time it fell of was adjusting my shirt but its a pretty good grip with the magnet and I love this pendent magnet setup. This is a great camera for people who like small things and dont like fiddling with crap. I click the button on and off as needed and its the only camera i use really. My other 2 action cams collect dust because when i go out i simply put on the mag-necklace and plop the camera on my shirt and im off. I really disagree about that magnet being a marketing gimmick. I bought it because of that magnetic option because its virtually hassle free.
The stabilization looks awesome considering all the places you can mount it and I always edit on mobile anyways, so don't see too much of an issue. Gotta get this and some gummy bears now
As a shooting athlete doing a lot of abstract movements and running and gunning, I find it perfect. It's what most of us use to post our runs on the gram.
@@Dcrainmaker wonder if you could zip tie the camera in the gopro mount so it won't fall out during bumpy rides. Not ideal but could make it more useful as an action cam.
@@TrailtoTrailTom It's funny, I actually had a bit of an explainer about that sort of things in my video, but ended up cutting it at the last second to the time down. The challenge with that is that the button on the front of the would get depressed (pressed) by the zipties, likely constantly turning it on or off, or stuck in one state or the other. Ideally they'd make a minor tweak to the Insta360 case to add two tiny holes to thread zipties too. That'd be brilliant. (There are two tiny slits already, but you can't slide a ziptie through them without blocking the cameras ability to nestle to its magnets).
Battery life - had mine for a week... Records on full battery for about 10 min MAX and then the camera is "Too Hot" -- and it is damn hot to try to hold... BTW the time is set to 30 min. Though this would be a great step up from my 10 yr old GoPro Hero 1st gen. It still works great - I can carry a spare battery & memory card... Retrospect this camera has lots of kool things IF you only want 5-8 minute clips.
Solid review. You gave info the bigger tech channels didn’t mention.. For example. 32gb is only 30min of Useable Pro footage. So the battery life (case+camera) will out last the internal storage 🤨 I agree. They should have put in Atleast 64gb, or 128. So you can record more & edit down later.
I almost bought this camera but I am glad I watched this video first because I probably would have regretted buying it. It is not what I am looking for at this point. Great job on this video. 👍
Great review! I've got the first GO version and watched this video to see if I want to upgrade to the 2. The chest magnet thingy is actually great to have. My grandson and I make vacation videos when we travel and the shots we get with that chest magnet really help put the viewer in the action.
I, actually, use the necklace magnet for most of my videos, as do my friends. We are avid hikers and outdoor activity people. It is the preferred way to use the camera. No problems with magnets or anything else. Just wanted your viewers not to be misinformed.
Great video. I have an Osmo Action, a Pocket 2, and a Sony RX100 VII. I was going to get this but after watching your video I think I’m good with my current cameras. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the honest review. My goodness, other reviews here on UA-cam were so biased. I guess I'll have to research more for a camera that fits me.
Electronics engineer here, 3:20 USB-C not working with any C-type cable sounds more of a hardware implementation problem. There should not be any reason why it wouldn't default to a sinking device (chargeable device) with the correct implementation.
The chest pendant is something you will ALWAYS use in casual walking travel vlogs. If all you make are action videos maybe not so much. You can get super magnets that you will never come close to knocking the camera off the pendant, bike or anything else metal. Otherwise nice fair review thanks
Many reviewers uploaded their videos on UA-cam, I'm glad that I've chosen DC Rainmaker to watch first. Great review as usual, very detailed and unbiased.

Legendary review. You talk fast and get to each point really quickly and thoroughly, BIG LIKE. Now I have a couple of questions: Is the SD memory card replaceable or is it built in? Also does the camera have intervals every 5, 10 or 15 min...¿ I mean does it cut it into clips then you have to combine them in the post production?
The clip mount is perfect for mounting to your helmet. Great for those who aren't going out with the intention of recording but want to quickly record something fun

As a shooting athlete doing a lot of abstract movements and running and gunning, I find it perfect. It's what most of us use to post our runs on the gram.
Always the best reviews by far!
I love how when it's mounted on the t-shirt it aligns perfectly to where the shark's eye would be.
Love your honesty. Your very through. Thanks, you’ve covered it all .
Great review mate, good points raised
Love your reviews. Logical and to the point. Telling it like it is. Makes it easier for me to decide if I add it to my camera bag.
Thanks Tom!
Thanks for this review. Honest and exactly what I needed to make my decision.
Thanks for the feedback
Great honest review. !!!!!!!!!! I am holding off. Thx
Andy Samburg called. He wants his face back lol 😂
Great video! Thanks for the info I forgot how to use mine it’s been sitting forever
This review is enuf to make a decision bout buying it. Thanks man!
Solid review.
You gave info the bigger tech channels didn’t mention..
For example. 32gb is only 30min of Useable Pro footage.
So the battery life (case+camera) will out last the internal storage 🤨
I agree. They should have put in Atleast 64gb, or 128.
So you can record more & edit down later.
I almost bought this camera but I am glad I watched this video first because I probably would have regretted buying it. It is not what I am looking for at this point. Great job on this video. 👍
"Imagine you used a GoPro by pressing the front of it" You got me rolling on the floor...LOL!
I’m wondering if it would be strong enough for someone to wear as a POV soccer camera during a game. Primarily for a goalie.
I would think so. I run with my dog wearing mine. No problems & very steady video.
Love your reviews DC!! 👍🏻
Thanks Scott!
OMG I love your T-shirt!
Great video. I have an Osmo Action, a Pocket 2, and a Sony RX100 VII. I was going to get this but after watching your video I think I’m good with my current cameras. Thank you!
Extremely useful info! Thank you!
A very helpful review - thank you for your attention to the details
Thanks!!
Thank you so much for the honest review. My goodness, other reviews here on UA-cam were so biased.
I guess I'll have to research more for a camera that fits me.
Great product review Vlog, thanks for sharing
Thanks Tony!
Electronics engineer here, 3:20 USB-C not working with any C-type cable sounds more of a hardware implementation problem. There should not be any reason why it wouldn't default to a sinking device (chargeable device) with the correct implementation.
Great review, changes the direction my decision making process was going in for a surf swim camera. Maybe a session will tick my boxes.
The chest pendant is something you will ALWAYS use in casual walking travel vlogs. If all you make are action videos maybe not so much.
You can get super magnets that you will never come close to knocking the camera off the pendant, bike or anything else metal. Otherwise nice fair review thanks
Excellent review! Clear and detailed. 👍👍👍
Thanks!
cool review, thanks mate for it :)
Thanks for the honest review, gave me the info to realise I’d be wasting money with this. I have GoPro 9/10 DJI action1&2 & Insta360 one x2 . 👍👍
you made my mind, great review. Going to gopro now, due lack of storage and the 'not so safe for diving' stuff.
Nice review Ray.👏👏
Thanks for this - I agree, 30 mins recording is not enough. If it were 1 hour I'd be very tempted to buy.
Many reviewers uploaded their videos on UA-cam, I'm glad that I've chosen DC Rainmaker to watch first. Great review as usual, very detailed and unbiased.
Thanks, I appreciate the view!
This was wildly helpful!
I don’t know why I have not stumbled upon this. I have a tiny hiking dog and have been looking for a teeny tiny gopro type camera. Like the full review. Will have to give it a try.
Good straight forward review!
Thank you for this detailed Video!
Been watching you for 7-8 years man haha keep up the good work
Do some dashcam reviews
Legendary review. You talk fast and get to each point really quickly and thoroughly, BIG LIKE. Now I have a couple of questions:
Is the SD memory card replaceable or is it built in?
Also does the camera have intervals every 5, 10 or 15 min...¿ I mean does it cut it into clips then you have to combine them in the post production?
Excellent review! Thanks!
Awesome video man
The clip mount is perfect for mounting to your helmet. Great for those who aren't going out with the intention of recording but want to quickly record something fun
Thanks for sharing. Very nice review!
Great and honest review..!!
Go 3 comes out tomorrow, so excited!
