Easy White Country Gravy Recipe

  • Learn how to make a simple country gravy with this recipe. For a thick gravy, use only 1 cup of milk and for a thinner gravy, add up to 2 cups.

    Recipe Tips:
    * Add salt and pepper to taste. Start out with 1/2 teaspoon each after gravy is completely cooked.
    * You can use vegan butter, lard, shortening or fat in replace of the butter. Use equal weights when substituting.
    * Cream or half and half can be used in place of the milk for a richer gravy.
    * Do not use a wire whisk on nonstick cookware.
    Recipes were created by weighing ingredients. For best results, use a scale and not measuring cups. The recipe can be subject to change. Be sure to check website for any alterations.
    Two tablespoons butter weighs 28.25 grams.
    Three tablespoons of the flour used weighs 28.125 grams. Recipe was originally used created using grams and was adjusted to the nearest US measurements.

    Country gravy is like most foods, what you grow up eating is not necessarily something you want everyday but when you do eat it, it brings back memories. 💗

      Amen 🙏🏻 to that. Now my brother could eat sausage country gravy all day long. I can’t even remember the last time I had it but it was many years ago. Even the smell of it cooking the other day made me think of sitting in grandma’s kitchen hearing a story of her childhood. 🥰

      I have two more videos scheduled coming up a few days apart. This is turning into a cheese sauce that then makes macaroni and cheese that gets baked country style. That’s why I didn’t use lard with the gravy as it would be greasier than all get out. 🤣😁😆

      @@Jacksonsjob I have never made a real mac and cheese. One that requires a cheese sauce. Only box or mostly just adding velveeta, butter & milk to hot macaroni. 🤭
      Not once in the 43 years we been married 😬

      I usually sprinkle grated cheese over plain noodles for myself. 😆. I recommend trying homemade Mac and cheese just once. I refuse to make it except for the holidays as it takes 2-4 pounds of 🧀 cheese depending on how much 💵 money you want to waist. 😳😆

      Good one! I love a good sharp cheddar. I could slice a 2lb block of Vermont extra sharp white cheddar and eat the whole thing in a day. 😳 just by itself!

      @@gidget8717 Hahahah, true that! I love cheese, too. My grandma used to call me a little mouse. I can go months without eating meat, but I love cheese. :D
