Thank you for sharing! I’m younger than you but thought I was on the older side because this reactor and the younger half of members could be my children (same age as my children, haha) but I’m so glad to be reminded we are an intergenerational group of supporters. You’re right, there’s nothing I’ve ever seen that compares to BTS/ARMY connection and energy. It’s also true there’s a percentage of toxicity and sadly it’s what many see and fixate upon. Happens in all parts of life, so we except, educate (like this guide by Taylor) and move on doing our best.

Overprotective does not mean toxic. ARMY is huge. Literally bigger than all other kpop fandoms combined. There will ofcourse be a few toxic ones but that does not define the fandom. We do not condone toxicity. You have to know their message and what they stand for to understand the name and even the fandom name ARMY and how it ties in with the group name.

He's a senior and one of the role models for the 3rd and 4th gen. idols, including Jimin at the time. Along time, the acquaintance became a beautiful friendship

This is long but its not hate! Just a different perspective!
Toxic fans are in every group youve reacted too. Kpop as an industry is VERY competitive. Its roots are in weekly Idol TV shows where groups are pitted against eachother for a top spot. East asian culture in general is highly competetive. Being combative between fandoms has been going on since WAY before BTS even debuted.
This isnt to excuse toxic behavior, but it is an explaination for the seed that plants it.
If you take that into consideration and now imagine BTS as they have been until very recent memory, you can see how much ARMY has had to go to bat for BTS.
Its kind of glossed over in this video because its not the main focus, but BTS were broke. Not just when they debuted but for years afterword. The kpop industry actively worked against them succeeding and so did other Kpop groups fans (not the groups themselves, but the fans).
There were projects launched against bts by other groups fans to make their wins invalid.(it never worked. The proof of their validity always won out) There were campaigns to get members kicked out. Thats only a couple examples, there was so so much happening for YEARS. Through all of it, ARMY saw how underappreciated BTS were and made them popular under the kpop industries noses, organically. Their sales and YT views were rocketing past their competetors, all the while the kpop industry were still under the impression they were a small time boy group. When they won their first Daesang fans of another group demanded a recount because they couldnt believe such a small group won that award. To reitterate what the video said: no one outside of the Kpop Big 3 had ever won it before, and from koreas perspective, they werent big enough too. They were gaining their fandom from international fans.
THEN after they went through the fire with korea, came the western media. Blatant Xenophobia. We thought korea was underappreciating them, the west straight up acted like they were stupid. Disrespect on top of disrespect.
The part no one outside of the fandom wants to talk about is how forgiving ARMY is. How generous we try to be. The radio hosts who infantalise them got flowers sent to them the week before from ARMY because we were thanking them for giving BTS a shot and putting them on their shows.
A famous example is when an interviewer gave BTS cupcakes and said they got them for them, but ARMY had actually sent them to the interviewers in thanks for having them. They just scraped off the fansight logo.
BTS are smart, they are capable. They have stood up for themselves in a lot of ways and do so more and more as they come to accept their level of social power, but there are a lot of things they would get HEAVY backlash for standing up for themselves for. ARMY is conditioned to come to their defence in those instances. BTS has our backs and we have theirs. We push this boulder up the hill side by side.
NOW. That being said, of course there are toxic fans. We are a fandom who is MASSIVE. Incomprehensibly large. And not only that, but we have the confidence and trackrecord to know that our actions can MAKE a change. This is USUALLY for the better. This is usually used to not allow racism, or to champion for greater causes. But there are also a lot of kids in this fandom. Teenagers and younger. A lot of the time they FEEL like the ends justify the means. They dont understand that they are being toxic. But they will hopefully grow out of it.
There is a lot of self policing in ARMY as well. Which some dont like, but it comes from the fact that people only see the worst parts of this fandom.
All we want is to see BTS be taken seriously as ARTISTS not just the western stereotype of a boyband.
I hope this kind of helps put into perspective that ARMY isnt as scary as people make us out to be. Ive been around since 2016. I watched them win their first daesang. I voted for them in 2017 for their first billboard award. (100 votes per day, ill never forget) Ive seen so much greatness in this fandom. It really hurts my heart to know that people dont understand us. I understand why it is the way it is. But I widh it wasnt that way.

The acronym BTS stands for BangTan Soyendon which in Korean means Bulletproof Boy Scouts.
IMO The best video about the group overall and their accomplishments as a group is The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Goes On: A Story of BTS (2023 update) by Rice Squad channel.
The best thing you can do is to not even give acknowledgment to the toxic "fans" as you did to the end of the video. They are about .01% of the fandom but as usual those are the ones that seem to be the most vocal so it skews the perception and can often seem that there are a lot more of them like that.

It shocked me to learn that BTS did not come up through the mainstream Kpop system. Which can be likened to Hollywood in its heyday. As a result attempts were made to thwart their rise so they had an extremely hard early slog.... They are incredibly talented , creative, and slide between styles. This eclectic use of genre and sub genre in music and dance make them incredibly interesting. Their lyrics are often much deeper than you would expect.

52:34 I really appreciate what you have said. That's what haters and some toxic fans need to understand. Because of their mean comments and inappropriate rumors, it could affect their lives, but that's not what these people understand. They are already struggling with their career, work, and everything. If they could read some caring and supportive words, it would definitely give them encouragement. This needs to be understood. At this point, after so much hard work even before debut, they're putting in, they need mental peace, which only the fans and people can provide, at least a little bit. So, stop hating on other people and also stop hating other idols. If you're a true fan and want our idol to receive love from non-fans, then educate them rather than writing something toxic in the comment section. Even though I understand that some people are disrespectful and say mean things about these idols that can make their fans angry, fair enough, other than that, I believe we need to understand that giving hate means receiving hate in return. After all What we give, we will receive.

BTS’ name still stands for BangTan Sonyeondan, meaning bulletproof boy scouts. In fact, in Korea they are known as the Bangtan boys. Bangtan means bulletproof, and Sonyeondan, just means an association of boys coming together as a group, we just say it means boy scouts. The Bangtan part represents how they stand up against prejudice coming from older generations and narrow minded people that come at adolescents like bullets. So basically, bts have always aimed to be the younger generations’ shield in a way

As you probably know, I'm a huge fan of BTS, and I feel like I need to clear up a misconception that some people have about them.
While it's true that BTS is an incredibly talented group of musicians, singers, and dancers, they are so much more than that. They are artists in every sense of the word. Their music speaks to people all over the world, and their message of love, self-acceptance, and social awareness is more important now than ever before.
BTS is a group that has worked hard to break down barriers and stereotypes, and they have done so with incredible grace and humility. They are not just entertainers, they are activists, advocates, and role models for millions of people.
So, the next time someone tells you that BTS is just a group of guys who can sing and dance, I hope you'll remember that they are so much more than that. They are a force for good in the world, and their impact is truly immeasurable.

    Some notes:
    * They didn’t change their name.
BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan, which means Bulletproof Boyscouts.
    * They have all produced free music for fans, including multiple single releases and all 5 of the rappers’ mix tapes (two for Agust D, two for RM and one for J-Hope) which also include really well produced music videos for some of the songs on each one. All just for love.
    * Many of the people who act aggressive online and “overly defensive” of BTS to the point of toxicity are not actually ARMY. They are haters and antis posing as ARMY to spread rumors and make ARMY look crazy. I’m not kidding, that is a real thing that happens frequently.
Every fandom also has some mentally unwell people as a percentage of the group of course, and with BTS literally being the bigger musical group in the world (not biggest K-Pop or idol group, nor biggest boy band, but just straight overall biggest musical group in the world) their fan base is larger and so the per capita amount of unwell people is larger.
But just know that ARMY follows the lead of BTS who are kind, generous, open hearted, honest, supportive and emotionally healthy. **THAT** is what the majority of the fans are like. Not whatever toxic behavior and lies you see spread around in social media.
I recommend xCeleste’s video This is BTS ARMY for a closer look at who ARMY actually is.

There are a few videos out there that go into more of the groups accomplishments. xCeleste has several on her channel, and then there is another long one by the Rice Squad. It also touches on each of the guys, but it goes more into their history as a group. They're all worth checking. Rice Squad is up-to-date til about same time as this one by Taylor - Spring of 2022. Soooo much has happened since then. Suffice it to say, all but 2 have come out with solo albums since then. 2 are now in South Korea's mandatory military. Suga is currently on world tour solo after his solo album D-Day came out, and there are 2 MVs. He just did his first 2 stadium shows in New York. More coming in US, Japan, and South Korea. J-Hope was the first to do solo album mid-2022 with "Jack in the Box" and headlined Lollapaloo and there are several MVs for songs on this album . He just enlisted April 18th, 2023. Jin did a collab song with Coldplay called "The Astronaut" and performed it with them in South America last year before enlisting mid-December 2022, and there is an MV. RM did a solo album (masterpiece) called Indigo; there are a couple MV's out for that. He's working on something else but said it probably wouldn't be out until next year. Jimin recently came out with his first solo album called "Face" and has 2 MV's also. We're waiting on V and Jungkook for their solo albums and know they are working on them. Jungkook sang Live at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and did an MV called "Dreamers". He also had done a collab with Charlie Puth called "Left and Right" - MV for that one too. V has been busy doing variety shows and such with his other "family" called the Wooga Squad. The latest that I know of is Jinny's kitchen which was filmed in South America (maybe Mexico?). Most official MV's are on Hybe channel under BTS. Behind the scenes, dance practices, and their Run BTS variety show are on BangtanTV channel (their official channel - be careful as there are some knock off channels too). Oh, I forgot to mention their last official Group activity til they complete military service was a free concert they did in Busan, South Korea on October 15th, 2022. There is a video of their 2 opening songs on BangtanTV channel - MicDrop and "Run BTS" (not to be confused with their variety show, nor the 3rd song they did which is called "Run").

army didn´t bully the one who died i didn´t even know of him or the group he was in. but kpop stans is for sure toxic not all of corse. i am not a kpop stan i only listen to BTS so i don´t really follow what´s going on. i only know of a few artist who BTS has been involed with by name.
but i did hear about someone passing, it´s sad.
no one deserves hate no matter if you are an idol or a normal person that´s it. real army´s don´t hate but unfortunately the loud people on twitter is all that people see and it´s sad that a 1000 toxic fans can ruin the reputation of 50 milion army´s.
most of us keep to our self have our own chatrooms and discords and Communities. you only see us at concerts and event´s all over the world that BTS is attending.
but we dont approve of fans going to the airports to see the memebers and following them. and if we see them in other countris on vacation we keep it quite until they are back home in korea. there is a whole video explaining the fandoms actions. and also we have seen multiple fandoms team up against army to hate on BTS so that might explain the fanwars. but a part from a few bad apples we are chill cool people who loves BTS and their message.

Stumbled across your channel..57 yr old Army here. Watched these guys grown from teenagers into some of the most humble talented gifted artist and young men the world has to offer💜 The vlives are so much fun.. RM just comes and hangs out with us Yoongi comes and usually gives us such uplifting words J-Hope usually dances for us Jin cooks and eats with us JK takes song requests and gives us a mini show V does so many different things Jimin builds arts n crafts with us RM is a lyrical genius, especially the way he uses wordplay even between languages, composers using different beats flows rhythms.. He's also the only one who does not have a driver's license Yoongi is my bias and I love how he's so savage.. He seems like a very cold and distant person but he's very caring and loving J-Hope is a phenomenal dancer and just recently hea at Lollapalooza.. Hobi is the sunshine of the group Jin was cast on the street getting off the bus that's true, it has happened twice to him... He did not sing or dance at all before he became a trainee.. Jungkook was only 13/14 when he joined as a trainee, he loves his brothers and Army so very much, loves to take risks, he's pitch perfect and talented in so many things. He's called the "golden maknae"because he's just good at everything he does🤷 V was hidden because the company feared he would be approached by other companies because of his striking good looks. V's voice is like a river of melted chocolate and his vocal range is amazing. He loves jazz and he feels like an old soul to me. He's very funny and spontaneous.
Jimin is pure perfection when he dances, the feelings and emotions he's able to protray is amazing. He also had the shortest time as a trainee, around 7 months only.💜💜💜

Yes, ofcourse there are groups who want to stay forever always. But it's not many of them who all have good relationships among members like bts. Bts themselves said once: "a lot people envy us, because of our relationship, there are a lot of groups who don't get along".

Very good reaction to this BTS guide. Here's a suggestion for another BTS guide reaction.
The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story of BTS. Buy rice squad formerly known as the Asian theory. I believe the one to watch is the 20 21 update radius 2022 update I can't remember exactly look for the 2022 update first. It starts out with some slightly different versions of how each member joined BTS and have slightly different information about them. The bulk of the video starts with their debut angles clear through their journey as BTS the group clear to 2022, I think.
Unfortunately, there are no no album combats or solo work from BTS coming until roughly after June 2025. BTS are on a group hiatus concentrating on solo projects such as every member putting out a solo album and going on concert tours public appearances talk show appearances and one by one when each member feels it's the time enlisting in the South Korean military to refill fulfilling their mandatory service requirements. Jen enlisted in the military in December 2022 and will be discharged in June of 2024. Jay hope enlisted in the military this month April 2023 about two or three weeks ago. Jay hope released a solo album in August 2022. RM released his solo album in December 2022. German released his solo album about 3 weeks ago April 2022. Sugar AKA August D released his solo album roughly a week ago and is now on a solo concert tour under the name August D. Gin did not have enough time to release a solo album he released hey solo single song as a goodbye for now two army fans once again he will be discharged in June 2024 and will be completing his solo album then most likely. Where is the last member to enlist in the military was Jay hope about two weeks ago April 2023 he will be discharged from the military in October 2024. The mandatory military requirement in South Korea is 18 want to two years then most likely they go in through reserve military status. Mandatory military service is required because the Korean War which started in 1950 and ended in 1953 never officially ended so North Korea and South Korea are technically still at war. there was only a ceasefire in 1953 not an official peace treaty settlement.

Correction they are not a "K Pop group because that suggests that you are just lumping them together with other k pop groups wh when they are quite different in many ways from kpop idols. That trivilises the group and what they stand for. But many new reactors tend to approach BTS this way. Hopefully you do your research and come to see why this is the case. I think its worth your while to listen to their music, their lyrics and the sincerity to their art they continue to bring. Please watch one of their live medley performances in full concert setting. That got me! Always watch Mv and live performances together💜

well.. they are a kpop group. just because they do some things that are different from others dosent make them not a kpop group. you thinking they are better also dosent make them suddenly not a part of the kpop industry. Saying they're a kpop group is just a fact, it's not like it has a negative connotation. There are more groups than you think that have similarities with bts.

    • @nsma2629
      @nsma2629 Рік тому

@アリスさん usually people associate kpop with an manufactured industry with no artistry. So if other groups like BTS are also lumped in, it is not representative of who they are as artist. It is better not to have that label. I am sure there are good artists. But that doesn't mean they are like BTS. Just like I'm sure other groups do not want the label of being like BTS. Apologies if what I said didn't hit right.

    • @AliceBunny05
      @AliceBunny05 Рік тому +1

@@nsma2629 I guess, but that's not really representative of what the industry is, that's just a thoughtless stereotype. You shouldn't give in to stereotypes by trying to seperate yourself from the group they are associated with, but instead by showing those things aren't true. Which BTS and other groups do continuously. I just think it undermines their determination to show that the industry they work in and the things they create aren't what some people think by going out of your way to seperate them from it. I'd just say a more helpful way of saying something like that is to clarify that there's a lot of variety in the kpop sphere, and if you find yourself making generalizations about the whole industry then you'll also find yourself being proven wrong over and over, so it's better to have a more open mindset. I never meant to say there are groups like BTS, since I've been their fan for a long time now. Only that many people who never really looked into other groups tend to think BTS is the only group with a close bond, or the only group who produces their own stuff, etc. when there are groups out there who are similar to BTS in those individual aspects.

Thanks for this reaction. I personally don't include toxic fans, solo stans and antis as ARMY. They're a syndrome of the malaise that's set in universally in fandom. Every group has "fans" who are jerks. I don't know why ARMY gets the worst of the criticism, but it is what it is. The guys are loving, kind, respectful, humble, and giving, and that's the example a true ARMY tries to follow.
