Chapter 14: The Triumph of the Witch (Audiobook w/ Text)
After the Witch leaves, Aslan tells Peter, Susan, and Lucy to move camp without explaining why. As the day goes on, Aslan becomes despondent and hints that he may not be present at the battle. The camp is filled with unease.
That night, Susan and Lucy grow worried and find Aslan, who agrees to let them follow him on the condition they leave when told. As they travel, Aslan grows more depressed, pleading for human contact to ease his loneliness. They reach the Stone Table, and Aslan tells them to leave, but they hide.
Lucy and Susan watch as monstrous creatures surround Aslan. The Witch orders them to tie him up, and her servants, thrilled by his passivity, humiliate and bind him. The Witch approaches with a stone knife, declaring that Aslan will die in place of Edmund to satisfy the Deep Magic. Once Aslan is dead, she plans to kill Edmund and the others, becoming Queen of Narnia forever. Lucy and Susan cover their eyes to avoid seeing Aslan's death.
