- so here's a cover i made of the song that plays in the colosseum in castlevania symphony of the night with famitracker, using the VRC6 module
i also made a mockup of the game in NES restrictions to illustrate the video, with the help of Emperor Pixel over at pixeljoint (HUD, alucard sprite and certain tiles) who has made quite a few more of these NES SOTN screenshots

btw ive taken up programming on my project of demaking castlevania rondo to NES restrictions if that interests you in the slightest

@@valentinoproductions1940 well after being busy and putting it on hiatus for like 2 years, ive been making some pixelart again, and will continue programming it as soon as im done with the current (work) project im working on. Sooo yeah have patience, but have faith !

Glad you keep coming back! I actually have been making an NES demake which mixes Rondo and SotN into one game for a couple years now, so far I've done most of the SotN soundtrack. I'd be glad to show you all this, but UA-cam doesn't seem to have a PM system anymore so i'm not sure how...

I find it hilarious that the HUD at the top of the screen gives you more information that you may want to know more than the actual PS1 title does during gameplay.
This is a great arrangement that really resonates with me, as it faithfully reproduces the original's image despite the 8-bit sound. I love it.
How have I not praised this yet? This is a fantastic VRC6-style cover of this tune! Very, _very_ well done!

Kind of feel like there should be an NES Symphony of the Night game after hearing this... (waits for the good word).
When you think about it, the NES Castlevania games, an 8-bit Rondo of Blood and elements of Zelda II can fit for it with how Alucard could play. ;)
StormCrow95 Maybe something like Simon's quest, but obviously lots of the parts of the castle would have to be removed, while also limiting a lot of some other stuff like relics, spells and gear. Alucard would have to mantain his Dracula's curse animations obviously.
I thought as much, hence the nod to Zelda II if we're taking Simon's Quest's style into account.

Wait! Is This Game Available On NES Format?!
well hey, it's not completely out of scope, with today's tools. I have to make more graphics, but it's already a project of mine to remake Rondo of Blood in 8-bit and i could use some of the graphics i've made for that - and i'vealready coded a solid engine to simulate the NES' tile-based sprite animations.
So sure, all this is a lot of work still needing to be done, but check here again a few years down the line - you might be surprised :)

This cover is fantastic! It exceeds my own skill ten fold! The way it has that NES Konami feel while still being faithful to the original song is amazing! This is also one of my favorites from SotN, so excellent job!

Well you gave me some inspiration about my metroidvania, 8 bit Nes artstyle, And a Vcr6 original score to track!
I feel like the NES would have dropped two channels from this song. But maybe with the Castlevania III famicom booster chip, they could achieve this.
That's pretty much right - Just as you say: this cover uses the Konami VRC6 expansion chip, which is the same one which was used for the JP famicom version of Castlevania III.
To be more precise, the VRC6 chip gives you 3 additional channels: two squarewaves, and one sawtooth (used for the bass here)

Wow that pixel art is incredible, it makes me want an 8-bit Symphony orchestra of the night! The music is incredible as well.
Well, not to get you too excited too soon, but i am working on making this a reality (my project is to mix both rondo of blood and symphony of the night into one game, like a "what if konami had tried their hand at making a metroidvania on NES that isn't as shitty as simon's quest ?"). Like i said though don't be impatient, right now i only got the 3 playable characters working, and about 20% of the map done (i'd show a gif, but i'm reluctant to speak of this too much before i finish the project, because i don't wanna get DMCA'd).
