I purchased the 2024 Subaru Forester Touring Edition Pearl White with the saddle brown interior. I opted for the 2024 because of the memory seats (they should include on limited up at a minimum) and the 8" infotainment screen with the more traditional controls for environmental and radio. It's the perfect blend and not overwhelming. Plus it looks like it's integrated into the vehicle and not some afterthought like the tablet designs many have out there. Overall, this is a great car with excellent visibility, ease of entry /exit and the safety features that are built in. I made my purchase about a year earlier than planned because I wanted this generation over the redesign and very happy that I purchased this 5th generation Touring Edition.

Back seats DO recline. There is a cloth pull tab between the seatback and bottom cushion out near the door. Pull that and the seatback moves about 12 degrees or so.

This past December 2023, I purchased a new 2024 Forester Touring. The color scheme is not as plentiful as one may think. The dealer I use had to trade out of state for the "Cascade Green with Brown Leather. I needed a car right away so waiting for the 2025 Forester was out of the question. So far very happy with my purchase.

    I own a Forester Touring.
Several months before the factory warranty expired I was having a LOT of issues with my Forester. It was at the dealership countless times. Subaru and I went back and forth trying to get my car fixed.
Eventually the warranty expired (but I had only 14K miles on it after the warranty expired in May of 23.
I had taken it time and time again to Cascade Subaru in Wenatchee, WA, but they never could find the problem.
In December of 23, I finally took it to Subaru of Spokane (WA) and they found that it was the DCM, which is the main part of the computer.
Of course the part was on back order. Thankfully Subaru of Spokane gave me a loaner car to drive (it was a 24 Outback Wilderness with only 1,800 miles).
They had it for 3 weeks.
I finally picked up my Forester on 1/15/24.
I still can’t get the remote start to work, so I called Subaru Customer Support from the Dealership and wouldn’t you know it, but they were closed for Martin Luther King day.
When my Forester was in the repair department, I called Subaru Customer Advocacy Department to see if Subaru was going to pay to have my car fixed because I had been trying to get it fixed long before the factory warranty expired.
We went back and forth until they finally said that Subaru would pay $900 to help with the $1,800 repair.
Personally I think Subaru should have paid for the whole thing because they knew about the problem way before the warranty expired.
Do you think Subaru should have paid for the whole repair?
At any rate, this is my First Subaru and it will definitely be my LAST Subaru.
My previous vehicle was a 2011 Toyota RAV4 Limited 4WD with the 3.5 V6. In all the years that I owned it and I put 105K miles on it, it was in the repair shop ZERO times.
My Forester Touring has been in the repair shop COUNTLESS times in only 14K miles.
Already I’m waiting for the new RAV; AWD Hybrid to come out in 25, but I’ll have to wait until 26-27 so the bugs can get worked out, so I can sell my 1 and Only Subaru and go back to Toyota.
As far as I’m concerned, Subaru can go 🖕🏽🖕🏽🖕🏽 Themselves 🖕🏽
I’m disabled and saved my money for several years to be able to pay cash for my Subaru.
I drove Toyota’s for 40+ years and I’ll be happy when I can afford to buy another RELIABLE Toyota

I had a 2020 Outback Limited XT. When the lease was up the purchase price + used car loan was pretty steep so I decided to turn it over and lease a 2023 Forester Limited. Of course it's slower than the turbo (though adequate), less comfortable front seat, fewer features, less room. BUT I find the quality control of the Japanese-made Forester better than the Outback (tighter upholstery stitching, far less obtrusive/annoying auto stop/start) and I intensely disliked the Outback's large infotainment screen. That was slow and very distracting. The Forester's physical knobs/buttons are much easier to use. My wife replaced her 2016 Legacy 3.6R with a 2024 Forester Limited, before they go to that big screen in 2025.

The backseat DOES recline. There’s a webbing loop at the outside of the outboard rear seats in the seat crease (where the seat back and the seat bottom come together - otherwise known as the seat crack) that gives you two or three recline selections.
The 2025 is supposed to offer one extra “detent” I believe.
Favorite feature is the ease of entry/exit and the symmetrical AWD. That fact that a HYBRID is coming about a year after launch of the 2025 (MY 2026??) is also something I greatly look forward to the data dump on!

The Hybrid system that will become available on the new Forester will be the Toyota RAV4 hybrid system.
Currently Toyota and Subaru are in bed together

I just leased a 2024 premium forester and even though it has smaller screen then my 2022 crosstrek I still like those smaller and mid size type screens , I’ve talked to 2 Subaru owners who already have the 11 inch iPad style screens who say they don’t like them that much it’s a visual distraction there’s lag to them , I’m guessing maybe switching screens and I believe EVERYTHING Is tied electronically to the screen , your AVH , your AC , so for whatever reason something goes wrong with your screen / electronics you have no AC ( being that it’s no longer manual , maybe no emergency auto brake( not sure about that one to be honest ) and what a friend told
Me who has I think either a
23 or 24 crosstrek wilderness some of the computers, chips could
    Be
Around $3,000 to replace not 100 % sure about that , but probably a lot and the 2025 forester will now all be made in the USA, with the legacy being discontinued, so the 2024 forester is the last being made in Japan , which have might be a little bit of a better quality build and of course with all the new tech and interest rates/ inflation the price will probably go up significantly from what a sales guy told me , IMO you still get a great value in a 2024 Forester

Agree. It was the deciding factor for me not to wait. Knowing it’s got the kinks worked out is also a bonus, after several yrs production. I just did a 14 hr drive with it and it was more comfortable than I was led to believe, though the seat thigh extender in the Outback I would have liked. Also quieter than people said, at least compared to others like Honda CRV. Regardless of its production in Korea vs Indiana, more than one outfit confirms it’s reliability being among the best cars.

I love the Touring’s saddle brown leather seats. Subaru needs to put their 1.8 Turbo in our new Foresters, like they do in Japan. Better torque & mpgs.

Thanks for this review. I have a 2014 Subaru Forester with 200,000 miles on it, so I'm looking for a good deal in a replacement. For me, if I purchase a new replacement, it will be the 2024. I don't think the revisions for 2025 are worth the increased price.

Well I mean you can’t even get manual transmissions anymore, yet millions of diehard manual fans preferred them. Seems to be normal to not care too much if there’s still a strong demand for things. The “Go piss up a flagpole” mentality. OMG carve out unique niches, everyone please stop being so damn similar to each other. And enough already with treating “Outdated” as a dirty word.

    • @Doc1855
      @Doc1855 5 місяців тому

@@JoeBuck-uc3bl The reason why automakers seldom produce manual transmissions is because of government regulations and mandates.
It’s not because of the automakers themselves as it’s a LOT cheaper to manufacture a vehicle with a manual transmissions than it is to produce an automatic transmission.
Automakers have to produce vehicles that get better fuel economy and lower emissions. With automatic transmissions, you can’t decide which gear your vehicle is in. They’ll up shift for optimal fuel efficiency, whereas those vehicles that have a manual transmission, we can decide which gear we want for the best performance.
There’s more vehicles out of the USA that have manual transmissions, but when communist Dictator Obumhole was in office, he made it law that automakers had to have vehicles that were getting a certain amount of miles per gallon by the year 2025. There’ll be another huge change going into effect in 2030.
This is why so many automakers are going to smaller engines that are hybrids or turbos.
Communist Dictator Governor Newsom is trying to pass a law that by the year 2025, ALL vehicles that are 2010 and older will NOT be able to get registered in the Sanctuary state of California.
This will force poor people and the Illegal Invaders to Stop driving and become dependent upon public transportation, which is one step closer to Communism because the people will become dependent upon the government for their transportation needs
