Great video. Learned a lot. How do you get the working, CBT and Plan options? Would it be possible to make a video about that or point me in the right direction of how to do that myself?

ua-cam.com/video/vNERCcxiEYo/v-deo.html&ab_channel=SketchUp this video shows you how to set up a ColoByTag (CBT) style and save it to a scene.

SKU Pro customer here, disgruntled architect, designer, hobbyist, etc...
lead with the carrot or the stick... ?!?!
[the stick] Don't know what kind of Mac hardware you're running but ... IMO, silly dialogue starting @ 30:48 regarding expecting SKU to be "what it is" and not utilize SMP processing for tasks exactly like this, keeps SKU a novelty and has let Revit (though not much better) catch up to it regarding these types of site-driven and CPU heavy workflows. SKU holds a special place in my heart but this is still one of my biggest frustrations with most AEC modeling platforms that don't use all cores to crush tasks like this which, if they did, would make us all more efficient and able to produce better (or the same) quality of work in less time which equals a conversion into $$$ or more time with families or sleeping ;) The displayed relaxed attitude is what keeps me buying and overclocking new hardware so that I can get done, what I need to get done, in less time, without expecting to build "coffee time" into my workflow. It's 2023, we have quantum computing, Ai, and a host of evolution in processing... it's time software vendors catch up with the times. I want to give less money to Autodesk so PLEASE give me a reason to do so!!
[the carrot] Having said that, I'm sitting here trying to replicate this workflow for land-use, forest and vegetation mapping, drainage plans, plots/crops, cabin planning on my chunk of land with mucho topo variations in the mountains. I've gained a lot of knowledge from the workflow and appreciate you all making the video! I earmarked this for watching as soon it crossed my eyes, and as my time has allowed. Many thanks for producing the video and I look forward to more like it. 👨‍🌾👨‍🌾👨‍🌾👨‍🌾🚜

Agreed that there's always room for performance improvement as our tasks get more and more comprehensive and ambitious. Thanks for watching and glad you found it useful!

great topic,, spent 20 years doing MP's in Sketchup in Asia.. Brave move to do that live Eric... even if it is a snapshot of processes ... very informative.. PS I do all my roads and calculations in SU , using 2d overlays like you show and materials to map the different zonings and using the material area data to summarise landuses, floor plates etc.
no CAD apart from the survey!... thee is a issue with area calculation inaccuracy because SU does not produce true curves but as you note.. this is a concept masterplan.. not a legal or construction document.. it will change!

Thanks for adding to the conversation. It was a challenge for sure but that's why I thought it important to share...that it's not just possible, but advantageous to organize everything around SketchUp!

I didn't understand how u linked the 2d trees with 3d trees. Also want to know did u also do CAD 3d for 3d models or you only used rhino?when and where did u add the colors that were added in sketchup?

You create a circle place it where you want it on the tree and group it into a component.
