- How do you review a $7000 amplifier? IDK, but here’s my attempt at reviewing the LTA Z10e. It’s a headphone amp, it’s an estat energizer, it’s a speaker amp… So, yeah, kind of a crazy piece of kit. It’s darn good, but $7000….

Thanks Much!
I really think you need to let go the price when reviewing this. It seems it kind of scares and disgusts you. Price is relative to income but also to how you spend. I only buy one headphone every 10 year. So spending a couple of grand does not seem totally crazy to me. I will be using my system for years.
Just listen and say what you hear. We trust you😬
You do need a complete chain to really evaluate this properly though.
I'll second this. Try to work on setting your value-minded preference aside and just review the product. It's fine to have a short part of the review where you discuss price and relative value, because that is part of any product, but that isn't the entire product. And if, for whatever reason, you find you aren't able to do that, then set a ceiling on what you'll allow in for review. After all, it's better all around if we don't have to wonder, "how down/disinterested/negative/etc is he being on x product just because it's too expensive for his personal taste"?
Good feedback guys. I'll keep that in mind going forward.
$7k is definitely going towards a two week stay in Oahu and Maui for two! Sounds like a beast, but I love a fun and dynamic sound.
That's the best amp for the stax x9000
The SRM-T8000 is also good, the newer one, though no support for conventional hp. I had listened to both of them at PAF2023 this month. Z10e expands the soundstand and creates that space where instruments are recreated and have their space, thus scales nicely. t8000 is a bit of that, but more sweeter for the highs minus the slam.
@@astralboy hmm can't decide
I just got a really good deal on a 2nd hand unit. Did you notice that at lower volumes, the sound got very lean and tinny? At higher volumes, so far it sounds great otherwise.
Bifrost 2/64 isn't enough for this kind of gear . This deserves a Holo May
yes… and a set of TOTL headphones as well
Yeah...how does one price something like that? Especially when - fair guess, the majority of thousands dollar equipment sitting around!
