    These micro turbines aren't looking so micro anymore. Lol. They look like power

    Nice Video, I Love your testbench. Also, it's nice to see the 4-second acceleration, which is more realistic for a turbofan jet engine compared to having 2.5 sec. As most of the engines have.

      @aerialbugsmasher 2 місяці тому +1

      2.5 seconds for "most engines"? No way. 4 seconds is pretty typical from idle to full on all 3 of my xicoys. MAYBE 3 on a nice cold day on my X45. Kingtechs and swiwins seem to be much slower. And if you're talking full scale turbofans that's hardly a relevant comparison.

      @@aerialbugsmasher Yes, I only fly Jetcat, and the new generation is set at 2.5 sec up to 60000 Rpm. And this is standard!!!!! So full thrust, maybe 3.5 sec. Needs to be adjusted, obviously, depending environment.

    Did you calibrate the pump before shooting the video? Did not see any of that happening here.

    • @thelightersideofrc

      Nope. Did not do any calibration

      @@thelightersideofrc full throttle, wait for display to say pump cal, then decrease slowly down to idle and let stabilize. Done.
      Without that, acceleration tests aren't worth much

      @@thelightersideofrc I must second this. Really important to do this with Xicoys. They behave very differently after calibration.

    I looked at this turbine and most of the Xicoy turbines as my turbine of choice, but for high altitude flying, but my understanding js Gasper is not interested in testing these turbines for higher altitude customers, since most of his customers at at sea level, I certainly understand it’s a business decision, also from what I understand diesel is not recommend for these turbines. As for Swiwin ( I own 8+) i’m having concerns about the quality and reliability that’s coming out of China. So for now on to the next series the Kingtech G5 turbine, hopefully for higher altitude we see slightly better acceleration due to the new fuel pump design.

      Look into jet central turbines. The factory is at 7000ft MSL in Mexico City. They're not as light or efficient as the latest and greatest Xicoys but they're well regarded and they have lifetime warranties. I've heard great thigns about them

      I have never done a 240 video. There is a Swiwin 220 video in the turbine test playlist
