Which wasn't in the base game of Imperial Settlers either… so it might still be something that will be implemented in a future Clan. So, I don't call it a real basic difference.
Beautiful video!! Just a question about Empires of the North... i dont understand how works the card #176 in the Glenn Clan deck. It shows to be played either as a food field or as an upgrade to a food field, but since there are no other food field cards in thst whole deck i wonder when you would be able to use the upgrade ability. How does thid card work?
GREAT video. One question though i get the smoother aspect of exhausting a card rather than destroying it. But, does it make the game less interactive? It reminds me the 'dragon attack' in Res arcana.. at most, it is a bit annoying...but it doesn t allow to really affect your opponents
So far, I haven't seen a lot of use of the new effect of razing... So I guess less interaction yes, but on the other hand, it looks like most players are happy that that bit of aggression is no more there.
Question: Are action cards the only field which can be exhausted via axes? Could you use an axe to exhaust one of your opponents production fields in order to block them from getting the resource(s) during the harvest action? I'm sure resource fields don't need to be standing in order to benefit from them...just a random thought. Great video! I already pre-ordered my copy.
A player can only use this action if he has a Raze token. Only Action Locations may be Raided. Remember that you cannot Raid opponent that has already passed.
In my opinion this one plays better with 3 or 4 than Imperial Settlers. Of course the game will last longer than it does with 2, but it has a better flow and less AP than IS.
Thanks for this! I was interested in this because I absolutely love Imperial Settlers but after seeing this, it's gonna be a hard pass. They've simplified the gameplay a lot and killed the puzzly element of IS where you could use a single card in many ways (deals, razing, giving up common locations for faction buildings etc). And now there's even less player interaction.
Don't tell the designer my video made you not buy it ;-) Very much understood that you might prefer Imperial Settlers... Maybe in the future some clans might add more interaction. Who knows... but for now, enjoy Imperial Settlers... which is an awesome game! :)
And just now i notice, got game but cant open it yet -_-, but i havent seen any open production cards either

LAWL.... So the action POPULATE adds a cat... cool :D
Very nice informational video. Thank you very much.
Haha, in this house a lot of mechanisms in games add a cat 😅

Happy you like the video ;)
As for the exhausting with axes, I believe you can only 'attack' action Locations.

Even more interested in trying this out after seeing the razing bit removed.
That was a very smooth and lib when the cat came through :)
The cat has unbelievable timing... And I'm also glad the razing is gone to be honest.
How does this game play with each various player count in comparison to Imperial Settlers? I enjoy Imperial Settlers the most as a 1v1 game.

Thanks for the input/reply. I haven't been excited for a new board game in a long time. My copy is expected to come in this week.
I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do. :)
Can you attack other players in the Empires of the North? :)
See difference number 11 (at 9:20 in the video). There's no razing, you can exhaust an opponent's Location by spending an Axe as an action.
Nice one!!! Cool cat
Thanks Dave! The cat says thanks as well :p
In this one there si no Deal action on the cards as in Imperial Seatlers
Very true… I noticed afterwards as well that I missed that one :)
Thanks for doing this!
You're welcome. It was actually very fun to be able to do this, so my pleasure :)
Needed to see this. Also, a cat!
Glad you appreciate the video :-) And yeah, the cat is part of the channel… :p
Thumb up for a cat :D
If that cat would have its own UA-cam channel, it would get more thumbs up than me :p
This game looks like an insta-buy. Oh boy!
Hehe… Portal Games will be glad ti hear that :)
