If they'd been given the same armor as a 2 they'd perform just as well. we've seen with noble team that a spartan 3 can do the same things a 2 can, to the same effectiveness. They were the same quality of the 2s, ONI was just given the green light to make so many of them to throw at suicide ops because the 2s proved their worth and ONI was growing more desperate. If you swapped the situations of the 2s and 3s, with the same numbers, the outcomes wouldn't have been much different aside from plot armor related instances.

"Volunteer" is basically semantics for being conscripted. Most or all Spartan IIIs were targeted because they were Orphaned by the Covenant at extremely young ages. More or less the same age as the IIs were when they were conscripted. ONI approached the S-III candidates and basically asked these traumatized, vulnerable, orphaned and, in some cases, totally homeless children if they wanted revenge. Of course they'd say yes. So yes they volunteered, but they were already hyper-vulnerable to being taken advantage of and manipulated.
Except they weren't the same age and even the augments weren't the same because ONI couldn't replicate Halsey's formulas. Halsey looks down on every generation past II for a reason.

It's incomparable in my opinion. They did different things. Chief was on the front lines fighting with Marines and ODSTs whereas 6 was kinda doing his own shit till Halo Reach. Everyone knows Audie Murphy, but without looking it up, I assume you don't know a single member of the Seal Team that killed Bin Laden. See how it's different? 6 was kept for secret missions where Chief was a front line soldier.
Halo reach is honestly the best game the first time I played really gave me tears and the Elite Marshal that hunted down noble team I didn't notice at first but when I played the game again I only noticed that Elite group hunt all of noble team down and great vid by the way
also before 6 was moved from ONI to Noble team, the handler for 6 was reluctant to authorise the transfer and referred to 6 as being his own personal grim reaper.

They called all the Spartans demons, they viewed humans as heratics and felt that Spartans mightve been something else, something supernatural since they were so much larger, stronger, and covered in armor. Considering that one alone could turn the tide of battle and had much better armor than themselves, on top of that face coverings were a sign of dishonor to the covenant and didn't do it unless necessary such as pilots or spec ops(which was made with the intent of inducing fear). Chief really only predominantly took the title after he blew up installation 04 which was a covenant holy site. The arbiter fought a spartan before he became ship master, before reach I believe, and recalled being terrified when he looked into his face(visor) and all he saw was his own reflection

Elites have similar armor to Spartans just not as much special training. But for the most part they’re supposed to be the formidable opponents against Spartans.
It wasn't that it was "luck". It's that he always seemed to know the answer, even though there was no logic as to how he could have. His intuition was so great it looked like magic to everyone and they dismissed it at luck because there is no word for it.

It isnt about them teaming up, it is about who would win also S4 < S3. S4 isnt a spartan 3 getting an upgrade. S4 program is adult unaugmented becoming a spartan. The S4's are weaker than an S3 but they are close when in armor.

Technically that is true but they aren’t your average human solider atriox always knew not to underestimate them due to there skill set which is why he always chooses to ambush them from behind due to the very fact that if he were to made first contact he would of mostly likely got killed and he knows it
Masterchief is a line breaker. He is the lord of the battlefield, unmatched head to head. Noble six is a black operator. (Head hunters were the UNSC's assassins.) Assuming he has time to set up, he has the best chance out of anyone to beat masterchief. Head on, and Noble six will be as soundly beaten as Locke SHOULD have been.
This is spot on. I really don’t see 6 taking out Chief in any way 1 v 1. There’s not an attribute he’s better at aside from stealth. Important, but with Chief having Cortana, he’s pretty much aware of his surroundings almost all the time.

Spartan 3s were also taken at a a young age, and raised to be a super soldier. So they are actually on a much more even ground than you would think. Also They didn’t call Chief demon because of his deadliness but because his armor was the most common, so whenever the covenant killed a spartan wearing that armor, another one just like him would appear later. The covenant thought this warrior was unkillable, thus the name Demon.
There's also the fact that even though ONI is totally fucked up they are incredibly helpful, they started the "Spartans Never Die" propaganda, and stuff not only to increase moral for the losing humans but to put fear into the winning covenant.

I think that Chief would probably be more likely to win, it seems like he’d be more physically capable overall, but 6 is probably the most credible threat to chief in the series considering his record and similar knack for surviving impossible things and doing so with basically just his armor. Given a natural situation, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a draw, or chief winning on a technicality cause he was mortally wounded and bled out not long after
I cannot agree, chief is simply more skilled, stronger, faster and more experienced if we are using the two at their same exact points in their timeline (reach vs CE chief) If we are talking about current chief, it's not even close. 6 is getting his ass handed to him like he's a blow up doll. Chief is borderline invincible at that point, as in his shields can take energy sword hits at that point. Something strong enough to Pierce 6's shield and kill him. He is unbelievably faster and strong enough to punch atriox hard enough that atriox was forced to react, something that other Spartan IIs were completely incapable of. His experience is undeniably higher and due to his wider range of everything by that point he's definitely also more skilled. CE chief vs 6 is a fair fight where chief wins, but Infinite Chief vs 6 is a thrashing. I highly doubt that 6 could actually mortally wound Chief at all, but saying he couldn't hurt CE chief is just disingenuous.

Make sure not to forget all the surgery and death the spartan 2’s had to endure. If I remember correctly, only about 20 of the original 75 Spartans survived, including the chief himself. Also, speaking about his lethal skills, slightly after his augmentation, described in the book, he accidentally killed a number of experienced ODST’s in a ring fight, their limbs bent in wrong ways and many broken bones. So, don’t mess with the chief! 😂
Dude, Spartan III's were orphans who were inducted into the program between the ages of four to six. Spartan III's were trained by a Spartan II (Kurt-051). The Spartan III's were put into the field far younger than the Spartan II's and were put into some of the worst situations imaginable. If a Spartan III survived the suicide mission they were sent on, they were pulled and put into CAT-2 Spartan III special forces. They were either outfitted in Mjolnir, or if they were Headhunters, they'd be given armor that's more tactically efficient than SPI Armor. Spartan III's were an absolute force to reconned with. Chief would beat Spartan B-312, but Chief would be beaten damned near to death by the time the fight ended.

At just 22 years of age, Noble Six was the only other Spartan aside from the masterchief rated as "hyper-lethal" which is impressive for a Spartan-III and basically says all you need to know about him.

Noble Six has one joker to play in a fight. If his meds run out. Spartan III's have a special implant that is kept in suspension via special meds. If they run out like in a prolonged combat situation that is outside their mission scope, the implant kicks off and removes the biological limiter humans have at the cost of a lot of higher brain function. In ghosts of onyx it was noted that a Spartan III becomes strong enough to dent Mk V Mjolnir
The augment was for a specific company of 3s if I recall correctly, noble 6 not being a part of that company so he didn't get this augmentation, but if he had, who knows?
Not kidnapped, spartan threes were given the option of joining the program, but being orphans of glassed worlds they weren't really going to say no were they?
Noble six has a higher kill count. He was ONIs assassin. The lone wolf mission alone by lore he killed hundreds before he was taken out, before that he destroyed entire armys alone.. alone that is not a feet to be taken lightly theres a reason hes the only spartan 3 to be hyperlethal, ONIs personal assassin, headhunter, and so on. Chief works in teams he is a jack of trades master of none yes he has luck on his side but thatll only get you so far. Reguardless who wins this both are going to damn near kill each other.

I'll give Noble 6 the fact that the covenant deemed it easier to glass a planet then send more elites to try to kill him and that's pretty badass that you force an entire race to do that for one spartan
The covenant literally doesn't send down troops if there's no point in it. So no they didn't glass 6 because they were too scared of him (any first blade of the silent shadow would be itching to fight him) they did it because they had no reason to send troops
Six was inducted into the Spartan-III program at the same age the Chief did, the only difference was that Six volunteered to join in order to get revenge against the Covenant. In terms of Size, it's only an inch or so difference. Training was extremely different as Chief was trained by normal humans while Six was trained by Kurt (a Spartan-II) who admitted the 3's got better training than he did as well as the washouts from Alpha company. All Spartan-IIIs joined the war at 12 years old. Spartan-IIs joined at 14.

Fun fact the gen 1 armor enhances the user's capabilities without restraint where were Gen 2 has a limitations. Spartan 4s in gen2 mjolnir powered assault armour it's as strong as a Spartan 2 in mjolnir gen 1 armour. To add to this futher gen 3 is stronger then both gen 1 and 2. And that a little further on the all of this noble 6 vs Master Chief is a bit closer than you would imagine although I do believe the master chief does beat Noble six in the end due to a longer career, greater degree of experience, and a better set of augmentations. Noble Six is still nothing to be chalked up as if he is nothing impressive specimen.

Your description of spartan III is actually a spartan IV, III were also children who were trained from extremely young ages. Their stories are crazy and they could easily go toe to toe with a II and easily win, that being said, even tho 6 is my favorite, chief is taking the W
If I remember, IIIs started predominantly arounf pre-teens to early teens, while IIs started at around 6 years. There was a downgrade in augments and strength, but significantly increased survivability and thus numbers. IVs is where the strength really took a dive and was able to be applied to a fully grown unaugmented human, thus giving an entire army of augmented soldiers. This is all drawing from memory, so don't set me ablaze if I got things wrong.

They could wear it, but strapping a military combat ship onto all of the unproven in combat SPARTAN IIIs wasn't cost effective. Their standard issue armour was somewhere between MJOLNIR and whatever SPARTAN IVs got, but distinguished and exceptional SPARTAN IIIs were sometimes issued MJOLNIR armour.

@darthrange1 The spartan 2's were meant to be used against HUMAN rebels. They benefitted from better augmentation and heavier armor such as the Mjiolnr armor. The spartan 3s, on the other hand, were meant to be used against the Convenant, hence why their training was indeed far more rigorous than the 2's. The only problem is that they were meant to be cheap. Therefore, their armor and augmentations were far less impressive. There was this cool scene in the first chapter of the ghost of Onyx book where 300 spartans went up against a couple thousand convenant troops in hand to hand combat. The field was covered in blue and green blood of the covenant forces.

Spartan 4 volunteered for the position as adults enlisted in the UNSC. Spartan 3 were orphans taken into the Spartan program. Spartan 2 were kidnapped after determining they were genetically perfect for the role. Then there is Spartan Sgt. Johnson
You know that all the members of noble were augmented up to the spartan two standard and even though they "volunteered" they also were children when propositioned to join the spartan three program. Near the same age as all spartan twos were when abducted. And noble teams armor was mark v b meaning noble 6 could handle the same stresses to the body as Master chief could.
No they aren't. He's a Spartan 3 which is a cheaper mass produced Spartan. They're weaker than Spartan 2's for this reason. To add to this Master Chief even among Spartan 2's was a beast.

The Spartan 3 program expanded Halsey's strict requirements but their modifications were near identical to the Spartan 2 program just with advancements to medical technology making them safer and cheaper. I belive Nobel 6 would've been compatible with the Spartan 2 program if he was a kid at the same time as the Spartan 2 program's recruitment. Don't forget that it was Kurt, a teammate of John, that trained the Spartan 3s from a similar age that the Spartan 2s were trained. Kurt tried to prepare them for the failures if the Spartan 2s. I feel as though Nobel 6 and Master Chief would be a near equal match but the luck factor would give John the edge as Halsey sought out in her Spartan 2 program. The saddest part of the Ghost of Onyx book to me is that Kurt chose to stand as a Spartan 3 in his SPI armor rather than wear his old mjolnir armor which most likely contributed to his death. If Kurt had lived the Spartan 4 program would be less of the joke that it is.
S3 is still heavily inferior to an S2. S4 is even weaker as it was lessened to be safer and also to be used on adults despite advancements but they are close to an S3 if both are in armor.
The reason the S2 is still superior is because it was limited to the best genes in kids of a certain age because that age was most accepting of the augments and then still many died. Dont get me wrong both S2 and 3 were trained harshly but S3 program was more designed to have weaker enhancements to be safer and allow older kids to get it. Also they were chosen for if their homes were glasses and such. It was less about best genetics and more about something causing a lot of hatred for the covenant which is why S3 are known to he more angry and aggressive
My understanding is, S2 was made to be the best of the best and stop violence despite the losses and risks of the training and augments. S3 was made for a weapon against the covenant, using the fact their family and home got destroyed by them. S4 was made for a more mass production of spartans to upgrade the soldiers in a way.

Spartan 3s were primarily composed of vengeful orphans from worlds that were attacked by the covenant. While technicality they "volunteered," they didn't have much of a choice.
Atriox refers to red team as “little demons” covies refer to all Spartans as “demons”. They refer to chief as “THE Demon”. 6 is cool but he was a stealth operator which is how he got most of his kills and the “hyper lethal” classification. Chief habitually flies through space returning bombs the covenant leave lying around. My boy took out an entire cruiser in 1 move. He acquired ALL of noble 6 kill count by pressing 1 button. Him and blue team took out an entire armada headed for earth by themselves. 6 literally would last less than 1 second fighting chief even with 6 months to prepare.
Fun fact: when you enter ONI sword base for the first time, DOT welcomes you and gives you full access, which is a nod at 6 being ONIs weapon

If they'd been given the same armor as a 2 they'd perform just as well. we've seen with noble team that a spartan 3 can do the same things a 2 can, to the same effectiveness. They were the same quality of the 2s, ONI was just given the green light to make so many of them to throw at suicide ops because the 2s proved their worth and ONI was growing more desperate. If you swapped the situations of the 2s and 3s, with the same numbers, the outcomes wouldn't have been much different aside from plot armor related instances.

"Volunteer" is basically semantics for being conscripted. Most or all Spartan IIIs were targeted because they were Orphaned by the Covenant at extremely young ages. More or less the same age as the IIs were when they were conscripted. ONI approached the S-III candidates and basically asked these traumatized, vulnerable, orphaned and, in some cases, totally homeless children if they wanted revenge. Of course they'd say yes. So yes they volunteered, but they were already hyper-vulnerable to being taken advantage of and manipulated.
Except they weren't the same age and even the augments weren't the same because ONI couldn't replicate Halsey's formulas. Halsey looks down on every generation past II for a reason.

They called all the Spartans demons, they viewed humans as heratics and felt that Spartans mightve been something else, something supernatural since they were so much larger, stronger, and covered in armor. Considering that one alone could turn the tide of battle and had much better armor than themselves, on top of that face coverings were a sign of dishonor to the covenant and didn't do it unless necessary such as pilots or spec ops(which was made with the intent of inducing fear). Chief really only predominantly took the title after he blew up installation 04 which was a covenant holy site. The arbiter fought a spartan before he became ship master, before reach I believe, and recalled being terrified when he looked into his face(visor) and all he saw was his own reflection

Masterchief is a line breaker. He is the lord of the battlefield, unmatched head to head. Noble six is a black operator. (Head hunters were the UNSC's assassins.) Assuming he has time to set up, he has the best chance out of anyone to beat masterchief. Head on, and Noble six will be as soundly beaten as Locke SHOULD have been.
This is spot on. I really don’t see 6 taking out Chief in any way 1 v 1. There’s not an attribute he’s better at aside from stealth. Important, but with Chief having Cortana, he’s pretty much aware of his surroundings almost all the time.

Spartan IIIs definitely weren't just regular volunteers.
Spartan 3s were also taken at a a young age, and raised to be a super soldier. So they are actually on a much more even ground than you would think. Also They didn’t call Chief demon because of his deadliness but because his armor was the most common, so whenever the covenant killed a spartan wearing that armor, another one just like him would appear later. The covenant thought this warrior was unkillable, thus the name Demon.

I think that Chief would probably be more likely to win, it seems like he’d be more physically capable overall, but 6 is probably the most credible threat to chief in the series considering his record and similar knack for surviving impossible things and doing so with basically just his armor. Given a natural situation, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a draw, or chief winning on a technicality cause he was mortally wounded and bled out not long after
I cannot agree, chief is simply more skilled, stronger, faster and more experienced if we are using the two at their same exact points in their timeline (reach vs CE chief)
If we are talking about current chief, it's not even close. 6 is getting his ass handed to him like he's a blow up doll. Chief is borderline invincible at that point, as in his shields can take energy sword hits at that point. Something strong enough to Pierce 6's shield and kill him. He is unbelievably faster and strong enough to punch atriox hard enough that atriox was forced to react, something that other Spartan IIs were completely incapable of. His experience is undeniably higher and due to his wider range of everything by that point he's definitely also more skilled.
CE chief vs 6 is a fair fight where chief wins, but Infinite Chief vs 6 is a thrashing. I highly doubt that 6 could actually mortally wound Chief at all, but saying he couldn't hurt CE chief is just disingenuous.

Make sure not to forget all the surgery and death the spartan 2’s had to endure. If I remember correctly, only about 20 of the original 75 Spartans survived, including the chief himself. Also, speaking about his lethal skills, slightly after his augmentation, described in the book, he accidentally killed a number of experienced ODST’s in a ring fight, their limbs bent in wrong ways and many broken bones. So, don’t mess with the chief! 😂
A small number had the augmentation process go right. Most of the ones that failed out at 14 were recuperated and became full Spartans later on.

Dude, Spartan III's were orphans who were inducted into the program between the ages of four to six. Spartan III's were trained by a Spartan II (Kurt-051). The Spartan III's were put into the field far younger than the Spartan II's and were put into some of the worst situations imaginable. If a Spartan III survived the suicide mission they were sent on, they were pulled and put into CAT-2 Spartan III special forces. They were either outfitted in Mjolnir, or if they were Headhunters, they'd be given armor that's more tactically efficient than SPI Armor. Spartan III's were an absolute force to reconned with. Chief would beat Spartan B-312, but Chief would be beaten damned near to death by the time the fight ended.

Spartan III's have a special implant that is kept in suspension via special meds. If they run out like in a prolonged combat situation that is outside their mission scope, the implant kicks off and removes the biological limiter humans have at the cost of a lot of higher brain function.
In ghosts of onyx it was noted that a Spartan III becomes strong enough to dent Mk V Mjolnir
The augment was for a specific company of 3s if I recall correctly, noble 6 not being a part of that company so he didn't get this augmentation, but if he had, who knows?

Six was inducted into the Spartan-III program at the same age the Chief did, the only difference was that Six volunteered to join in order to get revenge against the Covenant. In terms of Size, it's only an inch or so difference. Training was extremely different as Chief was trained by normal humans while Six was trained by Kurt (a Spartan-II) who admitted the 3's got better training than he did as well as the washouts from Alpha company. All Spartan-IIIs joined the war at 12 years old. Spartan-IIs joined at 14.

Fun fact the gen 1 armor enhances the user's capabilities without restraint where were Gen 2 has a limitations. Spartan 4s in gen2 mjolnir powered assault armour it's as strong as a Spartan 2 in mjolnir gen 1 armour. To add to this futher gen 3 is stronger then both gen 1 and 2.
And that a little further on the all of this noble 6 vs Master Chief is a bit closer than you would imagine although I do believe the master chief does beat Noble six in the end due to a longer career, greater degree of experience, and a better set of augmentations. Noble Six is still nothing to be chalked up as if he is nothing impressive specimen.
Noble 6 is the only human being in the Halo universe that could fight Master Chief and actually get close to winning.

Your description of spartan III is actually a spartan IV, III were also children who were trained from extremely young ages. Their stories are crazy and they could easily go toe to toe with a II and easily win, that being said, even tho 6 is my favorite, chief is taking the W
If I remember, IIIs started predominantly arounf pre-teens to early teens, while IIs started at around 6 years. There was a downgrade in augments and strength, but significantly increased survivability and thus numbers. IVs is where the strength really took a dive and was able to be applied to a fully grown unaugmented human, thus giving an entire army of augmented soldiers. This is all drawing from memory, so don't set me ablaze if I got things wrong.

They could wear it, but strapping a military combat ship onto all of the unproven in combat SPARTAN IIIs wasn't cost effective. Their standard issue armour was somewhere between MJOLNIR and whatever SPARTAN IVs got, but distinguished and exceptional SPARTAN IIIs were sometimes issued MJOLNIR armour.

@darthrange1 The spartan 2's were meant to be used against HUMAN rebels. They benefitted from better augmentation and heavier armor such as the Mjiolnr armor. The spartan 3s, on the other hand, were meant to be used against the Convenant, hence why their training was indeed far more rigorous than the 2's. The only problem is that they were meant to be cheap. Therefore, their armor and augmentations were far less impressive. There was this cool scene in the first chapter of the ghost of Onyx book where 300 spartans went up against a couple thousand convenant troops in hand to hand combat. The field was covered in blue and green blood of the covenant forces.

You know that all the members of noble were augmented up to the spartan two standard and even though they "volunteered" they also were children when propositioned to join the spartan three program. Near the same age as all spartan twos were when abducted. And noble teams armor was mark v b meaning noble 6 could handle the same stresses to the body as Master chief could.
No they aren't. He's a Spartan 3 which is a cheaper mass produced Spartan. They're weaker than Spartan 2's for this reason. To add to this Master Chief even among Spartan 2's was a beast.

The Spartan 3 program expanded Halsey's strict requirements but their modifications were near identical to the Spartan 2 program just with advancements to medical technology making them safer and cheaper. I belive Nobel 6 would've been compatible with the Spartan 2 program if he was a kid at the same time as the Spartan 2 program's recruitment. Don't forget that it was Kurt, a teammate of John, that trained the Spartan 3s from a similar age that the Spartan 2s were trained. Kurt tried to prepare them for the failures if the Spartan 2s. I feel as though Nobel 6 and Master Chief would be a near equal match but the luck factor would give John the edge as Halsey sought out in her Spartan 2 program. The saddest part of the Ghost of Onyx book to me is that Kurt chose to stand as a Spartan 3 in his SPI armor rather than wear his old mjolnir armor which most likely contributed to his death. If Kurt had lived the Spartan 4 program would be less of the joke that it is.
S3 is still heavily inferior to an S2. S4 is even weaker as it was lessened to be safer and also to be used on adults despite advancements but they are close to an S3 if both are in armor.
The reason the S2 is still superior is because it was limited to the best genes in kids of a certain age because that age was most accepting of the augments and then still many died. Dont get me wrong both S2 and 3 were trained harshly but S3 program was more designed to have weaker enhancements to be safer and allow older kids to get it. Also they were chosen for if their homes were glasses and such. It was less about best genetics and more about something causing a lot of hatred for the covenant which is why S3 are known to he more angry and aggressive
My understanding is, S2 was made to be the best of the best and stop violence despite the losses and risks of the training and augments. S3 was made for a weapon against the covenant, using the fact their family and home got destroyed by them. S4 was made for a more mass production of spartans to upgrade the soldiers in a way.
The S3 is also made to be expendable. Not made to be kept. Made to be sacrificed for damage.

Ue has far more experience fighting humans, where as Master Chief has fought humans, but not to the extent of 6.
Experience outrank everything.
And Master Chief has more experience than Six. He's been dealing with the Insurrection a lot longer than Noble Six has.
@YoRHa No.2 Type B 6 was specifically for insurrectionists though, he waa deployed when there was lots of people in dangerous areas. Chief was more for covenant and a bit of the insurrection

The Spartan-IIIs, Noble Six included, were created to mainly fight the Covenant but also dealt with Insurrectionists as well.

I think it would be tight, Noble 6's skill set is almost perfectly designed to tackle someone like Chief.
Atriox refers to red team as “little demons” covies refer to all Spartans as “demons”. They refer to chief as “THE Demon”. 6 is cool but he was a stealth operator which is how he got most of his kills and the “hyper lethal” classification. Chief habitually flies through space returning bombs the covenant leave lying around. My boy took out an entire cruiser in 1 move. He acquired ALL of noble 6 kill count by pressing 1 button. Him and blue team took out an entire armada headed for earth by themselves. 6 literally would last less than 1 second fighting chief even with 6 months to prepare.
