SNAZ countdown Timer OBS - The Swiss Army Knife of Timers for Your Livestream

  • The SNAZ countdown Timer for OBS can do much more than provide a dinky countdown for your Livestream. Snaz has the power to show a time and date that will automatically update. You can also set the countdown timer, so it counts to zero, provides a message, and then counts up again. Scott will show you how to set this up in both Snaz and OBS Studio.

    This is the most helpful tutorial I've followed in a while. You were so thorough in what things to click and why you would click them. I feel like a lot of tutorials skip over the "basic" info like that because a lot of people already know it, but... I don't! Thank you so much for this.

      What's up Dave, Thanks man. I pay very close attention to how long folks watch my videos. It appears that viewers who have been on this planet for a while understand the value of positivity. I'm always testing, and constantly adjusting my channel so the videos improve. More is coming. Best wishes brother.

    I did notice that there's a newer version of Snaz that includes a tab at the top for Twitch streamers. Not sure exactly how this works yet but just having the Uptimer is majorly helpful! Thanks again!

    QUESTION: Hy Scott, I love the way, how preciousse you show every single step, and especially the WHY. great thanks for that!!!
    My show starts always at a certain time. Is there a possibility, that I can set the STARTING TIME of the show (eg 7pm) as the END-TIME of the timer, so that the timer calculates the time till the show is starting?? and OBS is witching to the intro scene... ??
    Thanks in Advance

    Awesome tutorial, thank you very much!
    Question, though - I see that the method Snaz uses to change files is to edit and save the .txt every second/change... I assume this will result in a lot of writes, so would it be wise to not have Snaz/these text files on an SSD?

    • @ScottFichter

      Honestly unless you plan on letting SNAZ run for a month it won't be a problem. Getting it to run on a platter drive shouldn't be much of a hassle.

    • @ScottFichter
      @ScottFichter  3 роки тому

      Raffael, sure just create a scene with a browser source to a up counter online. Then go to "View" at the top sub choice "Multiview (Windowed)" It'll give you a preview with out showing it and still give you the ability to see the other scenes. If you don't have two monitors, multiview is gonna make you want to buy one.

    I think the mix it up app is a very powerful app, but if you intertwine a lot of your additional extras with it. I use interactive channel points with graphics and sounds. I also use interactive commands that original supporters can pop up there authorized logo during stream anytime or when they arrive based on their roles of the channel. (If you could separate or if you know how to separate that only the single user can trigger their specific command that would be awesome)
    Just an idea that works so awesome.. interactive channel points not only sounds but graphics and so much more it can trigger whatever you want.. also could trigger smart home devices also because it integrates with IFTTT can't wait to explore that one!

    @4:10 I love Snaz, it's been my go to timer app for OBS!
    But I cannot figure out how to use the "Dynamic Files" tab, does anyone understand it?
    I've tried to read the documentation and it's seems pretty powerful, but I can't find any recourses that explain the 'Dynamic Files' tab??
    for example: Where do you post the link for this tab in OBS?

    • @ScottFichter
      @ScottFichter  3 роки тому +1

      Josh, I feel you man. GitHub is a fantastic source for new scripts and plugins but the documentation always seem to be lacking. In other words unless you have a skills with PHP your toast because the instruction rarely connect the dots for you. You must already understand what all dots mean. It's frustrating. I'll see what I can do.

    Scott, for one of your next videos could you give a primer on how to make sure your voice when uploading to UA-cam is audible without drowning out other sources?
    As an example play video games with my friends, and throughout the process, even in whatever editing program I am using (Vegas, Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve) my voice is either completely in line with everyone else's or it's actually overpowering but then when I upload to UA-cam I'm so quiet you can hear everything even some background noises over me :( I tried running a separate audio track for my voice specifically in audacity but it's almost impossible to line up with the video and game audio because they're two separate files, and I don't see an easy way to increase my volume past the point where it's even as loud as everything else- again super difficult to gauge because in the editing programs themselves it sounds actually too loud compared to everything else.
    I know literally nothing about audio, whatsoever so I couldn't tell you if there's a format I'm using that's weird, all I can say is I have a Blue Yeti microphone and can't afford to upgrade it, the gain is up pretty high AND my mouth is always close to the mic, and on a makeshift stand to distance it from mouse and keyboard.
    Any recommendations for ways I can either record my audio better, or beat whatever UA-cam is doing to my voice? It doesn't affect any of my friends that I game with, thought they aren't youtubers and know even less about audio than I do. They just use their mics out of the box the way they are and don't know how to mess with settings or how OBS works or anything like that.
