Katie dishes on her 65 acts of kindness project, and shares experiences detailed in her new memoir "Going There," including dating in her 40s and 50s, meeting her husband John, and starting her own media company. Katie also promotes colorectal cancer screenings in honor of Colorectal Cancer Awareness month and her late husband Jay, and reminisces with Kelly about their first interview together right after she won "American Idol."

As a singer (not anything professional but a little aware of the care for voices that work a lot for a living), I'm surprised she chose to do a talk show- I wonder if it causes fatigue for her voice.
I love Kelly, I love her voice and I love her personality, but I don’t love her as a talk show host. She expresses herself with very few words. Everything is “cool cool cool”. I just watch because of the guests, but I think that talk show hosts should not be people who just know how to have conversations with people (aka almost everyone), there should be an added quickness. I’m very sorry to say something that sounds mean, but this new era of political correctness dumbs us down. Still I love her! So anyways, may she continue to have success in this medium that i disagree she is suited for. 🙈 (notice how it irks me to share a negative comment).
She is proficient at talking and talking fast and talking when nervous. Love her. Wish she had time to listen more. Not share “me too! Me too! Not me! Yes me!” Rather, I would love to hear guests finish THEIR story. I think she’ll get it! She’s new! She has a great personality and voice and warmth!
Not usually a fan of Katie- always found her robotic, cold, calculated etc..& heard that she's that (& worse from people in real life lol). Gotta say though she *truly seems to love Kelly, super relaxed and authentic/ likable here. Kelly (like Rosie back in the day) would have some of the biggest a-holes in Hollywood yet were at their 'best' w/ Rosie lol. Kelly (like Rosie) isn't a threat and instantly puts guests at ease and a great interviewer and *listener!
Whoever dresses Kelly should be FIRED

I’m a centrist. Pertaining to free and fair elections, there’s no partisan politics here. When there are competing choices vying for a position in office, choices of competent and experienced people are vital.
Gender shouldn’t play a role in choosing a qualified candidate. E.g. when Jeannine Pirro Esq. ran against Andrew Cuomo for NY Attorney General, the majority of the constituency chose Cuomo. Could it be that he’s a traditional educated male, as opposed an educated woman?
The choice of not having a female experienced former judge, lawyer and prosecutor, resulted in electing an inexperienced male former lawyer with 18 months experience almost 3 decades before the election. You would think that an advocate would never be accused of violating the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
I’m informed. I’m an avid listener, watcher and reader of the information provided by the news media. And, there’s nothing fake, sexually biased and unfair about it.
I try my best to promote good government. And, if history is remembered this election, there are some darn good experienced and educated women candidates. Early voting in NY starts today.

Eh it’s annoying I must admit
It’s a double-edged sword-blessing and a curse, maybe? I can relate. I tend to lean that way and I hate it when I jump in too fast and step over someone’s words. I’m a excellent listener (I’m a therapist. Lol). But my dad was a BIG talker growing up so you had to learn to be energetic and a bit forceful to get a word in, so I’m aware when I talk too much or interrupt. Interrupting works for a lively conversation with someone well-matched, but I instantly feel awkward if the other person stops or seems to lose their flow, then I will definitely back up and try to keep my mouth shut more! She’s so authentic and spontaneous and natural.. it might just go with the territory. I think too, they drew attention to it because we know Katie Couric is a master interviewer, but a talk show is different than a news channel. Oprah does it too on her show over the years. People do tend to interrupt and interject if they are hanging out talking with a friend (*some anyway), which is what she tends to do with us watching. I would guess as she does it more, she will temper that tendency to jump in a little bit. I’m sure it’s tough to change those conversational habits when it’s her natural style to engage vs following a tight script. My son is very measured in his speaking style and thinks before he speaks, so I have to work very hard to not overpower him. I’m EXTREMELY present and responding to what someone is saying in the moment and I speak as I think, often, (again, as a therapist, it’s not a mutual situation, it’s my job to listen and reflect etc).. with a friend that’s similar, in many cases, we can talk for HOURS at a great clip that feels very balanced. All that said, it would be even better if she didn’t step on someone’s words and let them finish their thought out loud before she anticipated it and blurted out her response.

I think she’s just different in the since her goal isn’t really to drill and interview and more just have a conversation like you do with your friends. If you think about how you talk with your friends and fam you talk over each other all the time. Also there is a time limit that you can’t go over so I think she has a hard time starting the convo but has to rap up in like 2 minutes
