CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Ada (Nicole Kidman) gives a book and her photograph to Inman (Jude Law) as he prepares to leave for war.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Based on the novel by Charles Frazier, Anthony Minghella's star-studded Cold Mountain is a sweeping tale set in the final days of the American Civil War. Jude Law stars as Inman, a young soldier who, despite an injury, is struggling to make his way home to Cold Mountain, NC, where his beloved Ada (Nicole Kidman) awaits. In Inman's absence, Ada befriends Ruby (Renée Zellweger), who helps her keep up her late father's farm. Meanwhile, in his travels, Inman encounters a menagerie of interesting folks. Also starring Natalie Portman, Giovanni Ribisi, Donald Sutherland, and Philip Seymore Hoffman, Cold Mountain features original music by Jack White of the White Stripes.

I love how the one soldier says, "Tell her we'll be back in a month"! The south did actually think that the war was gonna be a short a sweet victory, so I enjoy how historically accurate his attitude was

you can clearly see that he wants to tell her something that moves him so much that he has difficulty expressing what he wants to say, that you can even see his left eye lid twitch a little - and then he just stops and closes his mouth because he realizes he can't explain his thoughts. very good acting from his side
Mau rice wow that’s a good observation. Inman seems to feel a lot of things very passionately but has a hard time expressing himself with words. Jude Law did a really good job portraying that.

perhaps the greatest kissing scene in the history of cinema (titanic scenes also included). you can tell that they kissed based on pure, deep, true love and not just 'making out' or something like that.

Saw this at the cinema on a date and rewatched it recently again. It really is a beautiful and harrowing film.
They just melted into each other at the same time that fire from within is ignited like an explosion going off leaving them wondering where the heck they were for a second after it was over - now that’s a kiss!! 😑

I've wanted to watch this movie for quite some time. For one reason or another, it just didn't work out. Until I find myself in possession of this movie, thinking with my luck it's be scar arched and unwatchable, I tried it. Looking back (after watching it) it was a beautiful movie, to say that it was quality in every aspect (not like many movies nowadays). It's a story of love, torn apart by war, life and evil. Through it all, they fight to be with one another. Great characters (except the Joker-like Bosie). A few unnecessary scenes amd lines that take away from the story and potential of its greatness, but other than that it's almost perfection. A movie I'd definitely re-watch, but hesitate to keep. If you enjoy a struggling romance or sad films, this might be the watch for you.
