    Yeah great review and very enlightening. I must say the biggest market is custom tuned for great street ride and low to medium wheeling on pretty much slightly lifted vehicles with bigger tires. Bit like the VW Beetle of shock demand. My Jeep has MC springs, shocks and arms but boy I just cannot get a good ride. Might start with a Go Pro strapped on and watch wheel travel when hitting certain street potholes. I want a ride like the ZR2 Colorado. Perfect right out of the box.

    • @accutuneoffroad
      @accutuneoffroad  3 місяці тому

      Thanks! The ZR2 shocks are likely tuned very close to that trucks weight and suspension geometry, also cheating since its IFS. Unless you custom valve a shock for a built Jeep, you are just using generic Jeep shocks that fit the total lift. For some thats not a problem and does the trick, but for a few extra bucks it will really allow you to enjoy the vehicle a lot more. Not sure what Jeep you have, but if you're looking to make a change I'm sure we have some options for you. Let us know!

    I always wondered why my bilstein 8112 DSC shocks felt different when they get too hot. Since the oil is flowing easier when hot I’ll try increasing the compression and see how it does.

    I have a fully built 4Runner, looking to upgrade suspension before the end of the year and I am really trying to figure out which of these three setups I’d like. Currently running Bilstein 6112/5160s but want some more comfort for highway driving. With my current setup I feel every bump on the road.

      The shocks you have are digressive, which means they run a bit firm/sporty. Unfortunately we are not able to change the valving in the shocks you have, but a set of Ride, Fox or King would definitely be a huge improvement over what you have. We've found a lot of people making the switch and really enjoying the improved ride quality, much smoother on the street and off-road. Since they are all about the same price, I would strongly look at Ride Shocks option. They will definitely offer the smoothest ride out of the box compared to Fox and King. They come pre-tuned depending on the build. Feel free to send over an email if you have any specific questions, we're happy to help Sales@Accutuneoffroad.com

    Thanks for all the info. I would have buy your shocks from my Tacoma if I would have seen them a little earlier. I ended up going with the Fox DSC's and they're nice. One question with these shocks? Do I need to worry about running a limiting strap so they don't hyperextend? Is there damage that can be done internally? Thanks

    • @accutuneoffroad
      @accutuneoffroad  2 місяці тому +1

      For trucks like that, its not necessary to have limit straps. These shocks are designed to handle that kind of thing. Limit straps are a good idea for vehicles with a lot of unsprung weight from things like big heavy tires, axles or portals. Limit straps are also a really good idea for high speed applications like prerunners and race trucks.

    I'm thinking about adding these to my Tacoma which will carry about 700lbs with a Camper. I'm located in Baja. I really want the truck to perform well on the beach, long washboard roads and at slower speeds on more rough trails. I also tow a sub 3k lbs boat/trailer time to time. I was going to put a stage 3 deaver leaf pack but I also think airbags would be a good idea for when I tow. The issue though is will that interfere with my up travel so much that having the upgraded shocks would be unnecessary? Thank you for your feedback.

    • @accutuneoffroad
      @accutuneoffroad  2 місяці тому +1

      We havn't worked with many air bag setups so I cannot confirm if you are losing any up travel or not that that system. Tacoma's are are already pretty limited in up travel in the back, so I would avoid reducing that if you can. Constant added weight of 700lb to the back plus towing is a lot for a Tacoma to handle, so I would be careful to not overload it the chassis & brakes.

    what do people mean when they say they got their shocks tuned? I have a jeep tj on 3.5 inch jks lift, which use jks shocks. Will FoX or anything makee my on an off road more comfortable/controlled?

    • @accutuneoffroad
      @accutuneoffroad  4 місяці тому +1

      Great question. So up until now, shock manufacturers have been offering a "one size fits all" shock for specific vehicles. A Jeep shock for example is designed to bolt in and function for that model in its stock form. Its typically a "good enough" tune. A "tune" is comprised of a piston and unique set of valving (shims). When you start adding weight to the vehicle or changing to lifted springs, the tune/valving inside the shocks may not be ideal for that new weight. Custom Tuning is a combination of addressing spring rate and internal valving to fit a specific vehicle. Custom tuning a shock will help performance and ride quality in a big way. This concept has really been taken from the off-road racing world and brought to general consumer. Not all shocks are tunable though. We will custom tune Fox, King, Ride shocks with remote reservoirs. If you purchase shocks directly from us, we will custom tune them for free with purchase. If the ride quality with your Jeep is not that great, we can certainly help out. Feel free to send out sales team an email and we can look into options for you. Sales@accutuneoffroad.com

    You developed arguably one of the best shock brands to meet the market since king and fox, you don’t need to suck anyone off anymore, if your shock is better just say it. Everyone has kings they suck on OE applications which is 90%plus of the consumer but everyone has them so they just follow. Fox is the guy at the office that has won sales men of the year consecutively, employee of the month consecutively but at this point is washed up and just shows up. Their 2.0s are trash and need tuning before they even make it on the vehicle, overpriced and cheap. A call to orielly’s will yield a 3 dollar strut and 5 dollar whore that gives a better ride. Getting ready to order a set, ride shocks for the win !

      I think because Accutune's business model for almost a decade is customizing and improving the tuning each brand to work well per application, you don't want to throw that out the window, notice accutune is really comparing their shock to the tuned version of orange or blue. If it was an out of the box comparison with standard tuning the results would vary. And to your point 2.0s don't have much value, ride tuning is all over the board per application, but the bushings and shaft quality are my main complaints.
