    Very interesting video. I have used the demo of Topaz and it was ok, not mind blowing but ok. I gave it some very grainy old MPEG-2 footage and it improved some things, like trees, windows, doors, backgrounds. But generally made a mess of things like fingers/thumbs/faces. I'm curious if you've tried VideoProc and if you have, how that compares to the others.

    Great review. When will you review the latest Topaz Video AI Update? They came out with a Face Enhancer model that is MUCH better than the face enhance model in HitPaw. I'd love to see what your VHS video would look like with it. I've used it on many of my VHS videos and the results aren't perfect but they are pretty good considering the original low resolution.

    for me, after preview comparisons with different models, i come to conclusion that for a 360p-480p video(drama series from 2004) , it's better to use ""upscale to HD", stabilization full frame, reduce jitter motion & rolling shutter correction, 1-2passes, motion deblur themis, no frame interpolation , in enhancement Iris model with 30 recover face, other default options, i used 5-10Mb constant bitrate quality . the extra output size & computation or time , it won't make a meaningful difference so i stick to 720p x265 500-1000kbs for upscaling any old 240p-360p files

    Thank you for this comparison. What isn't called out here is that today HitPaw is $43.99 USD PER MONTH -- which isn't obvious on their homepage until you hit the Buy Now button. They also have a $99 a year (which if you plan to use it more than 2 months, is much better. They have a lifetime license (today), for $350. But the question is how often does Hitpaw update their software, if at all? Unfortunately I've been burned before, where I bought the lifetime license and company never does another update on that software.

      Your concerns are pertinent for any software. But I would say if you don't have frequent use, the fee is the best choice as at least you will get a new version if there is one when you buy a second year.Besides a lot is happening in is market segment so there could be a new beaut app in a years time

    So Hitpaw is for real. Thought it too good to be true for the price. If Adobe had something like this, they'd charge 2 bars of gold and a pint of blood annually. The colorized video does slip back to black and white in some areas. I'm most interested in Hitpaw's photo deblur feature and Topaz's frame interpolation capacity for slow motion and increasing FPS.

    Great comparision video. How does topaz video ai compare to AVCLabs video enhancer ai, dvdfab video enhancer and hitpaw? Is AVCLabs best for recovering faces? I would like to know which apps can be combined for certain purposes. I am still waiting for an app that can remove dust and scratches with AI. Neat video can remove dust and scratches but it doesnt remove it accurate and thorough. I guess i have to test them all via trials. I do own topaz video ai. I use it weekly

      I have a shootout topaz vs AVC.ua-cam.com/video/dGIxYGJpl7k/v-deo.html. Have not tried dvdfab. I agree that AVC recovers faces better but sometimes just too much to give a cartoon look. I prefer Topaz for that. Topaz seems to be faster and gets speeds up each update. I use neat video for grain, have not tried with scratches in front of mind. when it comes down to it, they all seem to have strengths and it good they are competing as it keeps them all developing

    • @VideoTutors
      @VideoTutors  Рік тому

      All video enhancers are really slow - there is just so much processing to be done. The speed between Topaz and AVC is similar and the HitPaw maybe a little slower. I am just about to publish a review of an online option which does seem considerably quicker than the desktop options even taking into account the upload and download times. The review will be published on my youtube site next Tuesday.

    Hmm... I like how Topaz AI lets you tweak settings, but I like how simple Hitpaw is. Topaz tends to blow up video sizes to crazy proportions somtimes. I think for me, Hitpaw is the clear winner here. Especially considering the signifigance in cost! Topaz AI is outrageously expensive, and does not equate to function vs it's outlandish price.

    • @VideoTutors
