At 38 mins when etali hits imperial seal, I think I like sealing for bazaar. It can discard the ulamog while digging for corpse dance or snapcaster to bring it back, or can just find something like reanimate + griselbrand
Have you considered Tishana's Tidebinder for your cube? Seems like it might be good, especially if you're considering replacing some of the other cards that are in there now.
@@ryanmatthews7405 I would think so? Being it gets around uncounterable effects on the front end is pretty big upside but I don't know if the draw 7 being one sided is good or bad?
Love seeing the respect LSV gives Fire Covenant. I've been trying to get cube communities on the FC train for years. Card often plays out like 3-mana Instant Plague Wind.
Thanks for the content. Been following since CFb was first started. You might, single-handedly be the reason I’ve been playing magic these last 15 years. Much love
Think you could mulligan more aggressively with reanimator. A creature, a discard outlet, and a reanimate spell. Any hand without two of those three in it. I dunno, i prefer going to 6.
I feel like this is what happens with reanimator. It's so powerful but sometimes you just draw your cards in the wrong order, and a single well timed counter or whatever from the opponent is enough. More powerful, at the price of consistency🤷🏻♂️
I don't think the blue in main deck was worth it. There were quite a few games where being stuck on only one red mana made sneak attack non-viable, and I think the extra card velocity + discard outlets from the red you could have played instead would make the deck even more consistent.
I've noticed that his Sneak builds have been very lackluster in this series. I don't know if it's because Sneak isn't as good as it seems, or how he over stretches his deck to fit it. He was saying he felt the deck was really good, but he lacked speed, had little card draw, and as you point out, bad mana. Its reanimator. It gets quick wins. It also dies in a fiery wreck from variance.
I respect the reupload with the inclusion of round one ! It shows sometimes no matter how well you assemble your decks or play you can still lose badly . Enjoy your day !
Seems like Etali needs to come down in the Reanimator Target Power Rankings, at least in decks that don't have outs to hardcast it. You're crossing your fingers that it flips one of your better reanimate hits, but I've seen it whiff badly too often.
Yeah, that turn was confusing. Playing a land to ritual out archon on next turn would have also been an option. If archon gets countered he can spell seek an animate the next turn. Playing the spell seeker to have it be countered would have been terrible so maybe that's why he just passed?
We REALLY have to demote etali on the "reanimator target" tier list. Its great, yeah. but in cube so many decks are playing bricks for etali. Its so high variance. Every time you played it in this video, a grave titan or even torsten or sphinx of the steel wind or skmething would have been better. Compared to the premium targets like archon or atraxa/griselbrand, etali is just falling further and further behind
Agreed. I don't think Etali is that great, especially when you're playing counterspells in your deck or playing against someone who is. Obviously the ceiling is incredibly high, but its fail rate is just a lot higher than you would think. Landing a good Etali is such a rush (and it's just fun to have enter the battlefield) that I suspect people value it more than it deserves.
@@brianh5844 yeah i think the top 3 are clearly definied in archon griselbrand and atraxa but i think etali is a lot further down that list these days than he was a month ago
Etali does play well with all the archetypes though, flash, sneak, reanimator, and it supports non black decks trying to cheat it into play or even hard cast it. Etali needs to stay definitely. High variance like comet, and it wins games.
Yeah, Glissa's a card that does a whole lot, but isn't quite strong enough to be good in constructed. I do think she could be playable in a cube environment though.
These drafts feel similar to randomizer speed runs, my top youtube genre in recent years. They both benefit having a personal strategy, knowing what to value next, and adjusting under the pressure of time. There’s so much depth, mined from years of collective effort, and even similar hints of nostalgia. Of course vintage cube has been around long before popular randomizers and mtgo doesn’t have the charm of Ocarina of Time, but I think a portion of the GDQ audience would like the mechanics of the cubing process as well.
The turn 1 Mox into demonic tutor in the next couple turns all three games round 3 SHEESH. Sweet deck, sometimes the cookie crumbles all over the floor huh
I'm curious especially on the Kozilek and Ulamog choices; why keep their original printings over their second ones? I can maybe see a justification on Kozilek because that card's more commander card than a cube card but the second Ulamog seems so much better
Love your stuff. Two things. 1) When you mention a triome, can you mention what colors they are? 2) More interestingly, I think it would be cool if you drafted more base W or G decks. For fun and variety and testing if not for anything else.
& these aren't just any drafts btw just to explain why he can't do what you're asking. They're team drafts. You cant ask him to choose to go one way or another he has to draft whatever is open, building the best deck he can on aggregate while passing the worst decks he can to his opponents. It's extremely restrictive & there are genuine stakes & his team to consider so its not like he can just say "okay im drafting white today" and then force white and pass all the top tier blue or black cards giving his opponents both a vastly superior deck & hurting his own team. Its super competitive and its really not the "draft white because it would be fun" kind of format.
Also, ultimately there are 10 triomes, just like 10 fetches, 10 duals. At some point you just have to learn them, surely you wouldn't expect him to also remind you the colors of the original dual lands for instance. Also, I think I have heard him mention which colors a triome has before.
Emrakul is a good first pick because when you are filling out your curve it is hard to find 15 drops later in the draft.
I appreciate LSV staying consistent and not spotting the Bowmasters in Sandy's deck.
When were the deck techs of the teammates’ decks?

This would have been my play as well. Also had 4 spare lands in hand at that point to cover all the discards.
This video was reanimated!

ahhhh yes! I know I'd forgotten a card and it was definitely this one - going right in now

Sorry, archon is 8 drop so that wouldn't have worked
I cant believe how de-railed my entire day felt just because there wasnt a video from LSV available during my lunch break 😅

You know it’s a good one when the title of the video tells a whole story
Glissa Sunslayer could be a decent card for the cube maybe. Completely dominates combat, seems good enough to play, fills a pretty good niche I think.

Unburial rites seems like it would be cool to get off unmarked grave when you have all the pieces except a reanimate spell
I was getting worried when the video ran a couple hours late glad to see you still got to post
I was having withdrawals from not seeing my Lsv cube video at 12pm today. I was hoping nothing happened to him! Glad it was just editing issues!
Thank God you’re ok. By 3 pm I was worried.
I watch them each evening so I always have something waiting 😅
What do you think about Flusterstorm and Grapeshot in the cube?
I didn't have a LSV cube video to watch during my lunch today and my day has been ruined.

Probably for the annihilator theme to go with the Sneak stuff? Ceaseless Hunger is backbreaking with Sneak in cube though, for sure.
If you aren't able to actually cast them, putting the OGs into play is much stronger because they affect the board.
Glad to see a fellow White Collar fan

Oh good... Now I can finish this! XD

I love it
Where'd you go? We were still playing!

We have Entomb at home. R1G1 Unmarked Grave for Corpse Dance hope for a white source
add that one to the Tali Files!
I'm so confused, what happened to the game I was watching? The matches are different now so far O_O
Oh I see, the match order was incorrect in the previous upload. I finally saw the game I stopped on.
Discard round one. Reanimate 30min later
aaaand we're back
I would like to see Stasis in the cube
Would require a little more support, right? We barely saw use of winter orb as it was. I love stasis, though.
P1P1 I was hoping for Emrakul, and if we get Goryo's Vengeance or Shallow Grave I'm going to be a lil sad.
Too many vintage cubes omit necropotence. The nana is restrictive but the skull is and always has been busted.
LSV make the cards bigger when you draft pls my poor eyes squint so much 😢
