Don't think we have such machines over here, but I am sure, as a person with a walking disability, this would be a more "user friendly" forklift than the normal counter balance ones which I can no longer operate. Very interesting video.

These are old now! Had my 1st licence way back when. Now in 2018 I don't see to much work for them in the main cities in the UK anyway like London, as ground rent is to much for the warehouses to justify having any of these great to drive machines, just out of London away from where I live. And not all VNA's lift the platform. VNA stands for the truck itself as it is capable of driving down the narrow isles and picking pallets, but the platform does not lift, it's more like a reach truck down a narrow isle. A VNA man riser is the truck you see in the video ie lifting the person as well the forks.

The Manitou EMA 18 or the Combilift Aisle-Master can do the same job until 8500 mm

Although iin this video, it shows someone lift the cabin while at the same time driving backwards with a load, I don;t believe this is safe. That material can flip due to a bump and become unstable. Likewise, the operator is in jeopardy when we are taught to not back up unless going down hill with a load.

BasicTruth1109 The forks are sideways so that doesn't matter.

Is it part of the training to drive truck and lift the cabin at the same time?

      Hi Daniel,
Yes it is acceptable to drive and lift simultaneously whilst in a dedicated narrow aisle with a BT VCE150A. This should also be part of any driver training program for a Man-up Very Narrow Aisle forklift.

Thanks for the reply. This is very interesting and amazing piece of machinery (my jaw literally dropped when I saw the load was pivoted on the mast!) Regards

I know this reply is 2 months old, but yeah, even at my place we're told to raise cabin whilst going in either direction, when we have to put a pallet down, we're told to raise the forks to eye level, though from my 3 years or so experience on these trucks (Crown trucks, not ones found in this video) .. I find that raising forks eye level can be a bit bad, as some times the load gets caught on the traverse runners, or you end up hitting part of the upright without realising until the last second lol.

There you go. There are different operating principles on different types of forklift trucks. I'm instructor on counterbalanced trucks where on the test you have to stop the truck (p.brake, gears in neutral position) before operating hydraulic controls.

Hello, I've been told to operate a hyster, similar to this in your video. The narrow aisle forklift license I have was done on a flexi bendi forklift. Do I need to acquire a different license for this or am I ok with what I have?

Quasarvision come on down to mine and you'll see plenty of sloppy VNA's with plenty of product overhanging almost, if not within the path of the OP, let alone the bottom/floor storage level!

I thought the same thing. The ones in this video are the ones I call my "Wide" aisles.

Haha, same here. Super narrow aisles, I just quit and look for somewhere better.
