Just listen to Marco's voice: he thinks momentarily and responds with a smile, and you have to take into account that he is the chef in 'Hell's Kitchen', so maybe he's partly playing a character. Marco is serious about his art, but he enjoys a laugh too. And stop being so pedantic!
There are long silences before he is answering, and he comes across as very aloof, hence why I think this is uncomfortable. I know people want to pause for thought but he just waits too long. As for the 'I think your intimidated by him' comment, where did you get that from? I just said it was uncomfortable, so I don't know what your thought process was behind that.
