  • Seattle Outboard Racing Association. Racers from around the United States come to race on one of the fastest lakes in the country, Lake Lawrence, Washington. They don't race for money or trophies, just points that are tallied at the end of the season to identify the best racers. They compete for Regional, National and World Records. This video will show you what is involved in setting up, conducting, judging, and certifying a world class outboard hydro race. It includes segments on obtaining necessary permits and permissions, providing the required support and equipment, setting up the course, fine tuning the boats, safety measures for the hydro drivers from 9 years of age to over 60, organizing volunteers, registration, scoring, inspections, maintenance, and cleanup. You will see all of this. This multi-generational group of dedicated volunteers and competitors will amaze you.

Thanks for the video! I raced at Lawrence in the 70’s to early 80’s, it was always my favorite venue. I’m glad to see it’s still a great place. Flat water, cool temperatures and wide turns!

I'm glad to see how strictly they follow the APBA rulebook. Makes it a credible sport.
