Cindy Lumpkin how do you get funding for private school? My husband & I already have a nonprofit. I’m wondering if you can get state money or not? Thanks

And give the students a nice experience. Not terrible super processed foods, Or control freek teachers. But fun field trips, And useful information. I'm really happy there's another person my age thinking of this. 🥳

Amazing! You explained the process of opening a school so well. I would not think it would be possible..... but hearing how you did it, it seems possible! I can’t believe you started with under $100 ! congrats on your success!

God spoke a certain word to me in an audible voice years ago. I did not understand what to do with it. It’s been many many years and I almost gave up. After carefully thinking and searching my heart, I thought within myself… “A Private School!” So this is how I found your page. Thank you and God bless you! ❤

I wish that your program had been around in 2008. I was a special education student who suffered a major setback due to the NCLB Act, and the Georgia High School Graduation Test. I failed one portion and graduated with a certificate of attendance and a Special Education diploma. Later, I went to Job Corps, where I obtained my high school diploma. Currently, I am pursuing my bachelors degree at Clark Atlanta University, with hopes of continuing on to a Masters Program and ultimately starting a school of my own. Your story is really inspiring and I am glad I stumbled upon your channel. Thank you for sharing!!!
Great information! Always inspiring to see someone realize their calling and take it a step further and invite others on that journey. I pray that THE MOST HIGH keeps blessing you and what your doing.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing this. I have been in education for about eight years working with struggle learners in middle school. I believe we must partner with families at a younger age to see success in our learners. I want to start a private school, starting with Kindergarten and adding a grade every year after that. Thank you again for this information. I'm heading to watch your other videos.
Good afternoon: I am encouraged now to start my own school. I am enjoying watching your videos, they are very informative. Can you share more videos about school plans and paperwork needed.
Cindy, this was another informative video. You explained everything in a way that makes opening my own school seem achievable. I have been hearing about starting a non-profit for the past few years. I will look into that now. Looking forward to your next video in the series. And thanks for the shout-out! (BTW - Hi teacher friend from France, Nicholas Gaube!)
Thank you for this video. I was considering a career path in Education. Im planning on getting a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with my concentration being in Dyslexia and Language-Based Learning Disabilities. Ive only recently been thinking about starting my own school specifically for kids with LDs and really appreciate all of the wonderful help you're offering. So much to think about! But I appreciate everything you give us in your videos.
Awww. Thanks! Also, I am so happy that you are interested in getting your Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with your concentration in Dyslexia and Language based LDs. That is such a great combo and will make you so marketable. Rarely have a since that combination and I wish I had a better grasp of curricular specifically that designed to better help those with learning issues or adopting just a regular one in a meaningful way. It’s a lot more time consuming and most teachers don’t always put in the extra work needed. Good luck!
You are fabulous and thank you! I’m in California and had a childcare business for seven years. My daughter and I are wanting to open a school and you’re super helpful. Thank you! I’ll be watching more of your videos!
Go for it!!! I think as a result of Covid more and more people are looking for alternatives to public. We have a FB group called teachers interested in starting a school. Join us! We are building community and support for those who are interested in taking the Journey.
There are many children out there that need for Christians to be starting schools, and adults too for that matter. May God bless you in this endeavor and For this effort in educating your student AND spreading ideas and help to others who may also be able to start schools!
That's really inspiring ! I guess that it couldn't happen this way in France. :) Not sure if you have already told us, but what about the building? Did you have it already? Do you rent it? Oh, and all the material? Tables, chairs, boards, that's a lot to provide! Wishing you all the best for what's to come! Oh, and thanks so much for the shout out!
You are so welcome!!! Also, I would have done the next video for today, but I wasn't feeling well and didn't feel like doing it. However, I will mention much of what you comment on either tomorrow or Wednesday.
This is such a great video!!! I was always taught that when things easily fall into place, it is meant to be. I love hearing how you found your students! Great story. 😀🤩👍. Wonderful advice. I have lost many students to “home school” you know, before the pandemic.
Thank you so much! I'm at a place were it has fallen on my heart to start a school. Especially wtih what is going on in public schools, I image private education will be on the rise in the next several years.
This is the most genuine video on the topic i've seen... Thanks for sharing your experience! I just have one question maybe you could answer for me. If not getting accreditted at the moment, is a bachelors required for the teachers at the school? I'm in Virginia but whats the regulations around that in your state? Thank you again for the information!!
Hello SalafisPrime!! It has taken me bit of a while, but I finally gotten part 2 up. Teachers are not required to have a bachelors; however, unless they teach something like an elective...music, wood shop, auto mechanics I most likely wouldn't hire them as a teacher, I would make them a co-teacher, someone working under the leadership of a teacher who is certified or has a great deal of experience. This is only the case because of who our clients are too. Our parents want to know that the teachers have to skills needed to teach our population. Thanks for your comment!!
This was great! Thank you so much for sharing this info and your journey. I am a 7-year teaching vet and starting to really feel the burnout of teaching virtually. I am in the planning stages of a non-profit organization program for the arts and education that would meet face-to-face. I’m wondering how much of a challenge this would be during the pandemic. Have you faced any issues with your school due to Covid-19? What would be your advice on ways to navigate during these times?
Thanks for sharing!! I have wanted to start a school for years but I don’t have a degree. I applied and got accepted to a couple local colleges this past fall but didn’t get approved for financial aide. I don’t want to take out loans. I also want the school I start to be accredited. I’m in a tough spot!
Hey Cindy this is an amazing thing to do. Super proud of you and what you are about to achieve. I have a friend who started a special needs school back home in Nigeria and she need more than $75 dollars!! You are doing wonderful
How awesome is that!! I pray that she gets all the resources she needs. I don’t want to make it sound like you don’t need anything, but for me, everything for the most part that was a huge expense was donated or reduced. I also started with older kids which helped a lot.
Wonderful info, thanks lad! I am starting a school and one strategy I made is starting a tutor programme 👍 now I have some pupils go start a school with. And I took advantage of covid-19 lockdown to open an online learning Centre in order to stay connected with pupils and to get more pupils. Now I need to work on the business licence and a suitable place. I already have the whole programme on papers. I need to get to know how to arrange the paper work for applying for a license!
I forgot how little public school teaches. Homeschool and even starting your own school is much better. The United States of America needs to do better in education.
That is awesome!!! What state? Also, if you are on FB join our group…Teachers Interested in Starting a School. I am trying to build a community of us so it’s not so lonely on the journey.
You are awesome!!! I'm so curious to know more about the U.S.A laws regarding curriculum? 12:11 All the details on that please!!! Is some sort of regular reporting due to the government? Does anyone check up on the curriculum? How? Is there some flexibility? Is Standardized Testing required? Flexibility in that?
That is incredible, WOW $75. Codee aka CoCo has that much right now :) Not that she is in any position to become a teacher right now, She is just 14, but being a special ed teacher is on her list of things she might want to do when she grows up. And to think She could have her own school someday. Thanks for sharing it is good to know there are so many possibilities. It is so true that not all kids learn the same. I feel like Codee really struggles with concentration, and staying focused. we were told in 6th grade she had ADD, and they gave us medication, but after praying hard about it we just kept getting the same NO, do not medicate her. I believe it was the right choice, however she struggles with focusing, and completing assignment, and then remembering to turn them in. I think this will actually help her as she gets older, if she does choose to open a school, or even just be in a career working with kids, because she will be more understanding of those situations, and that not all kids learn the same. Thanks So much for sharing.
Much respect with your decision not to give meds. I don’t judge either way, but it would be a hard decision for us to make too. I don’t even give my kids shoots in a regular schedule.
Yes! It is a GOD thing. This video was an answered prayer. God bless you for you obedience. Question. How do you pay teachers? And how did you acquire a building? How are you making money having established a "private school"? Hope to hear from you soon.
Thank you for making this video and your time to do this. I know I am a little late but after watching a few videos and either your battery dying or getting sick, the Devil is constantly working to hold you down! Praying for you to continue the Lords work and steward these children well. My wife and I have a Autistic child and the public school system in our area just does not have the tools/teachers capable of caring for him. Therefore, we are praying to see if this is a path for our family and it’s coming from the Lord. Please pray for us, we are waiting for the Lord to confirm what he put on our hearts. Thank you and may the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and your students. John Kang

11:02 WHOA... Do you know how many aspiring teachers who want to open up their own school, just heard the words you have to have a person to headed up that has a MASTER"S DEGREE... Is this for only Non-profit... or ANY Teacher opening up a School? Am I right by saying ... We have to have a Master's Degree... or just someone on our Board (Non-Profit) This is NOT as easy as I though you started out saying... This is scary. Please help me understand. Thank you so much for such a great tutorial... even if I don't get to open up my school now. (SAD)
Hi Judi! Remember everything depends on your state. Compared to what most people think of starting a school takes, it is easy; however, that doesn’t mean hard work is required. The process of starting any business is scary but rewarding. It all depends on how you structure your school. If you don’t want to be accredited then for many states no Masters required. However, if you want to be accredited in my state the school being “run” by someone with a Master to be the principle is required. We have a Facebook community of like minded people who are interested and those who are actively engage in starting school feel free to join us and ask questions in fact I may be doing a zoom or live coming up to answer more specific questions.
Thank you! Thank you! I've been looking for information on this topic, as I plan to open in MS! It was so refreshing to watch you speak about your journey! #subscribe
I live in Namibia and I currently doing my honors in Education and i wish to start my school. I started with a few things but I am alone and i feel a bit discouraged.
Thank you! I appreciate this God is calling me to do this ... is there a group I can join as an educator and administrator to build networks with like minded people.
Hi Dalila! I started one on FB. We are small but We are slowly becoming just that. It’s called Teachers Interested in starting a school. You don’t have to be a teacher. Look us up!!❤️
I wanna build my own HBCU, I’ve been investing and started trading to build up some money so how much would I be lookin at, and how long would trying to build a college look like
That is a wonderful dream to have, especially considering that the are closing my the dozens. I really don’t know how much, but I am sure you will need quite a bit of resources. I would say def build a team of like minded people. This is something you can’t do alone. Also, start researching the requirements so you will know what is ahead of you. Good luck!!
I have a non-profit centered around developmental disabled adults here in Conyers and now I want to work with special needs children needing to be in a private setting.
Thanks for your video! I’m happy I found a woman of color who is currently on this journey. It makes no sense, but I’m exploring what it would look like to start a school. I’ve yet to find a school that fits my philosophy and values when it comes to education for my kids. My plan has been to homeschool, but honestly I don’t know if that’s what I want to do or if that’s what I feel obligated to do so that my children have the learning environment my husband and I desire for them. I know there are like-minded parents here in Ferguson, MO. I’m just very multi-passionate and am trying to discern if this fits with the rest of my purpose and is actually something God is calling me to do. I look forward to watching future videos whether or not I choose this path.
Hello Krystal, sorry it has taken me so long. However, we are def similar. I thought about homeschooling as well. I actually quite my job when I had my 1st child. However, once she turned about 3, I knew homeschooling wasn't for me. I didn't want to go back to public schools because of how much of myself I had to give with NO flexibility. So, I participated in some homeschool co-ops for a while and then I found a school that I felt met our needs. Which gave me more time to work on my school. I has been/is still a lot of work, but I love the flexibility that I still have. If my kids school is out, I just bring them to work. If I need to leave and go on a field trip my teacher covers for me. I give her the same flexibility with her child. With a small environment it works out. Continue to be prayerful and know there is no guilty of shame in what you decided. Follow God's leading. Also, if you wanted to continue with the series, I finally did the next one. This who convid thing through me off a little. LOL! Thanks again for your comment.
I don’t have my own building. But wether you are renting or buying, you have to pay unless you are able to find someone to donate a facility or the cost of buying/renting.
You are so welcome. I hope it was helpful. It has taken a little while, but part 2 is now up as well if you wanted to continue the series with us. Blessings!
I've applied to start a private forest Preschool in Wisconsin. I have a gal who would like to teach for me but she can't afford to lose her insurance with the job she's at. Do you have any ideas about providing insurance to employees or where I might go to get that information?
5:40 I looked into become a Non-profit school and it was $800. just for the paperwork... The reason I decided not to do the non-profit because you have to have so many people, not friends or family on a board of like trustees.... and they can FIRE you, if need be! That is when I thought "OH HECK NO" I don't want to start a school... and have people that can "VOTE" you off... that is scary... Truthfully I was disappointed I couldn't go the Non-profit route... Can you have a School, and be not be Non-profit? Do you know anything about have an Academy? Is that different from Charter school?
You've inspired me to open a Private School, but I'm located in North Carolina. How did you find your student minimum, education, and facility requirements for your state?

Thank you. This was great. Can’t wait for part 2. Can you also discuss curriculum? If I started out as a summer program, what could I use?
I will be discussing curriculum in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned!!! Also, thanks for stopping in.
Thank you so much for sharing all this information and letting us know step-by-step what we need to do I really appreciate it.

Hello!! We are on FB, search Teachers Interested In Starting A School
Your soul is speaking to my soul!
Yes girl. Amen. Thank you for making this video.
I am so happy to have found your channel and hearing about your starting a school journey!
Thank you so much!!
Thanks!
Loved it. LOVED it. LOVED IT!!
Thanks for being so open and transparent. You’re a Godsend. God bless, and much prosperity.
I totally love your story. I am starting my own school as well in Antigua in the Caribbean.
Many prayers on your Journey. Let me know if I can be a resource.
I totally agree!!! Thank you so much!
Waoooow thanks for this video ma'am I'm so much lifted by it
Kudos dear God gat your back
This is such a great video!!!
Thank you so much for your videos. I would love to start an African centered micro school. I will definitely be gleaning wisdom from you. Thanks again
We also have a group on FB called Teachers Interested in Starting a school. Join us. Everyone shares information.
Yes totally agree alot is I would say like you its supper natural, what you are called for will open doors for you.
Whew god sent me here too!!! 🎉
May He birth the vision He has given you!
Very thorough and easy to follow.
I'm also in VA. I'm aiming to start a school we should talk if your still on this path
Would love to speak to you about this...blessings
This is right on time. I needed this push
Awesome!!! Join our group on FB…Teachers Interested in Starting A School
How do you figure in your salary? From tuition payments? Thank you for this video!! Very encouraging!
Thanks for sharing!! I have wanted to start a school for years but I don’t have a degree. I applied and got accepted to a couple local colleges this past fall but didn’t get approved for financial aide. I don’t want to take out loans. I also want the school I start to be accredited. I’m in a tough spot!
Can you work and pay your way through school? You can always collaborate with someone else who has the same heartbeat. Good luck!
I'm really glad I found you. I'm doing this now!
Thank you so much, this is very helpful! You are so inspiring! God is so good!
Thank you so much and yes He is!!
Keep me posted on her progress!
Great tips!!! Love your transparency with the process☺️
Periodt on the supernatural part! God is good
Thank you this is great information!
Thank you!
I forgot how little public school teaches. Homeschool and even starting your own school is much better. The United States of America needs to do better in education.
I do agree that we can do better. However, for better or worst millions depend on public education. We have to do better.
This has been my dream since I was 15 years old.
Thanks you such for this I will be starting my school this years this is so helpful.
That is awesome!!! What state? Also, if you are on FB join our group…Teachers Interested in Starting a School. I am trying to build a community of us so it’s not so lonely on the journey.

I'm so curious to know more about the U.S.A laws regarding curriculum? 12:11
All the details on that please!!!
Is some sort of regular reporting due to the government? Does anyone check up on the curriculum? How? Is there some flexibility? Is Standardized Testing required? Flexibility in that?
This is sooo helpful!!

🥰 you are so welcome!!!
All of those are good questions... I'd like to know too.
Thank you soooooo much 😊 For doing this.
I can do this. Wow
You sure can!!! Here is a more detailed blog I wrote here: theldcoach.com/how-to-start-a-school/

Yes one one the videos there is a part that I didn’t completely edit out. 😭 I will def pray that God gives you direction. If He says that starting your own school is the way or even to explore it, you can join our FB group called teachers interested in starting their own school. I should say parents or anyone because the process will be the same for everyone. Anyway I answer a lot of questions and we motivate/inspire each other in there.
Thnx sis, awesome job

WHOA... Do you know how many aspiring teachers who want to open up their own school, just heard the words you have to have a person to headed up that has a MASTER"S DEGREE... Is this for only Non-profit... or ANY Teacher opening up a School?
Am I right by saying ...
We have to have a Master's Degree... or just someone on our Board (Non-Profit)
This is NOT as easy as I though you started out saying...
I am interested in starting an online private school, is everything the same?
Thank you!
Good luck!!
Exactly what ive been looking for. I will be in touch via your IG. Thank you so much.
Please do! I check it tomorrow.
I have a non-profit centered around developmental disabled adults here in Conyers and now I want to work with special needs children needing to be in a private setting.
Thank you so much. I am a believer as well and I’m in the process of beginning this journey. Do you do mentoring ?
With buildings did you have to pay for it?
I don’t have my own building. But wether you are renting or buying, you have to pay unless you are able to find someone to donate a facility or the cost of buying/renting.
thank you
You are so welcome.

I looked into become a Non-profit school and it was $800. just for the paperwork...
You can have a for profit school.
And Academy and charter school is generally very different. A charter school is still a public entity most academies are private.
Though I live in another country.

You've inspired me to open a Private School, but I'm located in North Carolina. How did you find your student minimum, education, and facility requirements for your state?

I got someone on Fiverr to do it.
I'm late....but this was great!

These are some tips I would love to ask you, can you buy a old abandoned school and fix it up and turn it into a private school
Yes you can!!! Sometimes your city or county may have property that is owed by them and they have been known to give it way for nothing. It’s all about timing and who you know.
Can I get the link for the Facebook group?
