I am in the middle of an alternator swap on my 83 240D. Was trying to figure out how to get the adjustment bolt out. You just saved me a bunch of cursing. :-)
Thanks, the dash has a few small cracks. I try to keep it out of the sun. I lucked out and it had a good passenger seat. The driver seat is a passenger seat from the junkyard. It really improved the interior looks as the drivers seat was pretty rough.
On my 84 turbo, it was a pain to get to that 17mm from underneath. Also my tension nut simply turned to the side once it was threaded past the end of the tension rod. I haven’t figured out how to get the tension rod/bolt out.
I pried the bracket open. I filed the adjustment rod a bit shorter for the re-installing. Somehow I’m still not getting much of a charge. I checked the blue wire for continuity with the key on and I checked the voltage of the two red wires. Someone tells me that the alternator needs to be grounded somewhere. I didn’t see any wires or cables for that. But that’s a likely problem

Your seats look very good, and the dash as well. I like to use a thermal cover for the dash to keep it protected from the sun.
