I've had a huge hit and miss expeirnce with Vestaire. I find it's cheeper to buy from local consignment stores for a lot of things, as you dont need to pay for shipping/imports taxes. Personally I wouldnt recommend anyone I know to buy from there UNLESS theres something very specific you want and you've either 1. seen/touched it irl 2. it's black 3. new condition. I had a nightmare experience with them when I bought a Gucci bag in white and the seller purposely took pictures of the item with the accessories covering stains on the bag. I had to be a Karen to get a refund (not proud) but they were not understanding at all. This bag was ROUGH and absoltuey not as described.
I think this is a really important point, because I know both items I bought I was way more confident than I would have been if I didn’t know.
Even if you buy or sell Charis within 6 months, it’s no one else’s business. You should be able to do whatever you want without having to defend yourself. This doesn't hurt anyone *condup*
Regardless of social status, buying things that need to be practical is the right answer. Buying something that you can’t bear to use is just a waste of money *condup*
I‘m glad to hear you had two pleasant experience Dayle! I used to LOVE shopping on VC and did it so much, until I made several bad expired myself and found out even more shocking experiences in the comments under my videos. The authentication process they use alledgedly is not trustworthy at all and if you find out an item they sent you is inauthentic, they still won’t accept a return but force you to sell the item on your own profile (same if THEY made a mistake with the check of condition). Not everything about them is bad, there are trustworthy sellers aswell and there definitely are great items to be found… but once you get a faulty piece, VC will leave you alone to deal with it and your money is lost
Yes I was always cautious because of your videos but I was prepared for this one as it was relatively low value for them both.
I’ll definitely keep my eyes peeled and look for smaller casual sellers I think as opposed to people on there all the time.
I have to say, every experience I’ve had with Vestiaire so far has been great. That coat! It’s proving to be an absolute unicorn 🦄

I've bought a lot of accessories from Vestiare, and had no real issues. I have had a couple of refunds as things went missing on there way to me (Vestiaire were very good about this). I stick to items from the EU, as then there aren't extra customs fees (which I think you can see when paying, no no nasty suprises later).
I also do my homework, as occasionally I've found an item that is still available and listed for pretty much retail price - it'd make more sense buying the new item, as then I can return it if its not for me. I did buy a Gucci bag, I had a specific colourway in mind, but I did my research, knew the retail price, knew what other colourways were being sold for, so when one did come up in the spec I was after I was ready - no regrets!

So refreshing to hear someone share their honest positive experience with Vestiaire! Not discounting the not so great experiences others have had with the platform but I feel like bashing Vestiaire and blowing minor issues out of proportion seems to be THE way to go on UA-cam recently…. I’ve bought a fair amount of items from Vestiaire over the years and it always turned out fine :)

I Bought mine Directly from Burberry and I got already free of charge replacement of the Belt (my fault and not burberries) and cleaning including Special treatment. They also change it if you want to have it tairoled for free. Perhaps you Need size up put want to have Shorter sleaves

I collect those prada raso razo rasso santin silk bags (whatever they are actually called, who knows) ... And I think that is a good example of what vestiaire collective is good for. I know those bags are authentic. They are from the 90s, kind of beautiful little jewels, lol, pretty inexpensive so who really cares and probably not faux at this point!!

Thanks for this video Dale. My experience with VC has been good, I have not bought a lot but I am happy with the things I have and happy that a couple of items I was purchasing got rejected through their authentication process. They refunded me super quickly too. I like the filter function that lets you select only new/unused items. Good luck with your search for the trench I think the problem is in the UK our sizing varies so much from season to season and in styles.

Dayle, the stone grey trench looks great on you! If you still have it, don’t give up on it yet. There is sometimes a bit material behind the seams and a good tailor can make it a little wider. I prefer the look of narrow sleeves - it’s much more modern than wide sleeves. And you only need half an inch more to make it perfect. A good tailor might have other tricks to fix the problem as well.
I bought Fendi sandals from Vestiaire in December and had a very good experience 💫

Hi Dayle, it might be worth asking at the store you bought your lovely French fluffy cardigan at if they can recommend a tailor - in my experience they are as hard to find as a Buckingham trench! But my local Matches store (soon to be RIP) were able to give me a great recommendation.

Sad about the trench 😢 I’ve had mainly good experiences with Vestiaire but one bad which was rectified quickly! I bought an lv bag in excellent condition it was sent to their authentication place and sent to me quickly when it came there was little cracks all a long the top of the canvas, they took it back and checked again and I got my money Back in 5 days. They relisted it with cracks in leather not canvas ! I do just think if the authenticator missed that what else could they miss ! ❤

Have only sold items on Vestiaire but only have good things to say. They do take a decent chunk of fee though. Good luck finding the right trench
In this case I got what I paid, they listed it at a higher price to cover the fees, will be interesting to list myself and see the difference.
Hi Dayle! Fingers crossed for your Burberry trenchcoat hunt! I have only two experiences with Vestiaire and both items came as described. The most recent one: I finally found the exact Hermès carré I was looking for, brand new. The verifying hub mentioned to me it came from private sales; I was OK with that and got a very good deal compared to the retail price. The shipping packaging was not great (a simple enveloppe!) but the item was not damaged. I would say you can make great finds but you really have to read the details and contact the seller if you need more information 😊
Yes that’s what made me feel comfortable the additional pics from the seller and communication- I knew they had it and it was what it was listed to be.

I've personally had some great experiences with VC so far. I got some great deals on Valentino Rockstuds, LV mini pochette and recently a gorgeous Gucci scarf that I almost bought overseas at the boutique last year. In terms of clothing I am a little cautious only because the sizing can be so tricky....

I have had no issues buying with vestaire but as a seller my experience not so great. I have had 3 sales cancelled without consultation due to the following reasons: item did not reach the hub in time even though sent in the 7 day time frame, courier service used for Australian buyers does not service the area I live, with no other options provided - sale just cancelled even though I could have dropped it at a hub an hour away. I live on South Coast NSW so not remote by any stretch so a bit disappointed with trying to sell items overall.

I would probably have asked that I be allowed to return it, since the sizing is obviously incorrect, regardless of what the tag says. That, to me, is a defect and probably why it ended up on Vestiaire. Wonder how many times that coat has been bought, returned, and sold again since it's sized incorrectly.

Such a shame about the trench. Sizing is so inconsistent all round. I have a Burberry cardigan - an influencer who is probably 2-3 sizes smaller than me bought it in a large and it looks great on her - the large was too big on me so I had to get a medium - how does that make sense?! So it just makes me think you can’t trust Burberry sizing. Also it seems that the older the piece the more the sizings do not seem to match with today. Very frustrating! Glad you were quickly able to resell!

I have bought from Vestiaire many times, several bags, just bought a never worn Givenchy 4G box bag, which I’m waiting for. I’ve also sold things. For me everything has always worked out. But it’s such a large buy/sell site and so many hundred of thousands of private sellers, of course things go wrong sometimes. I’m a fan of Vestiaire though! Since I live in Europe (Sweden) it’s the only site of its kind.

It doesn’t look like it’s been meddled with, it’s quite possibly a different coat despite appearing similar.
Good luck with the trench. Other brands are doing super long trenches this year, not good for women under 5’10”.

I had a good buying & selling experience from VC so far but as I don’t want to jinx it. Their customer service is a bit useless though as I asked them for help few times, they didn’t seem to do much or want to help.

You should measure the sleeve width of the two coats you own Dayle, then make an enquiry before any future trench purchase.
That’s a sensible thing to do!
@@DaylesAddiction sleeve widths actually change with the fashions. It’s possible the older sleeve width will not suit your shape and you will have to find a more modern trench (in best colour!) to get a sleeve width to suit.
Have always wondered about Vestiaire and never tried. Definitely don’t want to end up with anything old and smelly. Maybe the strange size comes from your original bought in the US and made for US market or is US not UK size? I have seen the exact same ready to wear items both French 42 but major discrepancies depending on if garment going to Europe Vs Japan market. If one appears again you’ll have to pull out the tape measure and get garment measurements.

That's mostly true. You can only return it if the listig was incorrect or if the item is broken. Some people are professional sellers and you can return stuff with them.

Ahhh… thanks that is very interesting. I know the real real, a place I am just a wee bit terrified to purchase from 😂 has a mostly no return policy. Unless the item was misrepresented, if I understand correctly. At least that is what I have gathered watching others videos.

I would have lost a thousand dollars relisting my damaged item that went through two separate checks on item sold as brand new unworn with tags. I am in US and bought from UK and item was damaged and VC will not stand behind it. They are ignoring me. They also sold me a damaged bag that the inspector didn’t catch, two scratches and glazing rubbed down to raw leather. Their inspection team is awful. Both of my experiences

I'm still having difficulty selling, I sold 1 item this year and refused 3, all of which were for sale for 30 euros. Someone makes me an offer for 20 euros, which mean vestiaire Gets €15 and I get €5 hell no! What also annoys me about VC His category description is very limited, which means that many sellers hardly have any option to promote their items

This is another reason I won't buy Burberry. The arms are cut like sticks. Their sizing has also become inconsistent.

You are Right! Bought the waterloo and sized up two sizes but i am toally happy because Waterloo is more relaxed than kensington or Chelsea! But nevertheless sized up! You have to be careful with Burberry at vestiare. Sent back two Fake coats they checked as authentic and it was not.

I’ve purchased a few bags and a wallet from Vestiaire and had really good experiences. Though a couple of purchases the seller cancelled the sale which was annoying. I’ve sold a bag also and it was great, the fees are a lot less than eBay.
It’s a great place to find unusual bags I have to say.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Vestiare. I have used it three times, and all three times have been trouble free. Item as described and came really quickly. I treat VC as a marketplace just like Ebay. I do my due diligence as much as I can prior to purchasing. Conversely there are also some videos on YT about horrible experiences. But just like @sarahjames1143 said previously, I now prefer to shop locally within Australia as there are many many reputable consignment stores around without the fees and the stress of getting a counterfeit. At least that way I can look and touch and feel the merchandise.
Agree shopping local is definitely preferable!
