NICE!! mod idea. Place a small chamber for BBs over the released bolt position and a spring inside to cushion and push back the bolt after release,. Then inside under the BB drop place a small spring plate to go over the chamber hole after the bolt springs back. Fire, bolt pushes plate forward, BB drops, light Sping cushions bolt and pushes plate back over BB drop. Repeater statis.

Using a re-purposed pistol crossbow (remove the useless string), use a slingshot pad and tubing, bend the ends of the bow to accommodate the tubing on each end of the bow, and add a 3 inch length of aluminum tubing on the top, near the business end of the thing, as a guide, lashed onto the stripped body of the crossbow with a rubber pad and cinched on with cable ties, and you have a devastating pistol crossbow speargun, all without *any* woodwork at all. Use cut-down arrows, no fletching. Pinch the butt of the bolt with the leather pad, pull back, and sink your bolt deep into your target. You're welcome.
