The white dresses. In an interview, Asami (the singer) said, "We're girls, we don't want to dress like boys. Also, we are all small so it's easier to see us." Haruna, the drummer is only 4' 9". The tallest is Miyako (dark haired guitarist) at 5'2". Also, Miyako was a few months pregnant during this concert.
Welcome to Lovebites.. Do some more, its all like this, possibly tho only band I have ever listened to that I don't skip a song because I don't like it. Each song you watch will become your new favorite.. Beautifal Japanese ladies showing the world how it's done!!
Most people watching Lovebites for the first time, and are very familiar with metal in general, tend to react as you did. A mixture of bewilderment, amusement (in a good way) and, by the time the song has finished….awe. I’m over 60. It took me 30 seconds of my first ever time seeing them on UA-cam (live performance, can’t remember which, though very probably “Holy War) to decide, that quickly, that I had a new favourite band. Seriously. Others here will tell you that they are musical perfection. Almost 50 songs, no (that’s zero) “album fillers” all varied, original, catchy, heavy, beautifully sung, instrumentally perfect. And that’s live. They are the only band in my lifetime of listening to rock of most flavours who I can truthfully say that about. They are the only band where you have only the audience and Asami, the vocalists occasional comment to the audience that tells you you’re not listening to the studio original. Miyako (stage left) does the majority of the composition, but all band members have written songs, and I will repeat, there are no duds, which means they’re all excellent songwriters. Miyako is a fully trained concert standard pianist, but a self taught guitarist. One of her favourite tricks is to write something that she thinks is a little beyond her current ability. She and Midori (stage right) then practice, often together, until they are comfortably able to play it. That’s why the synchronised dual lead after the two individual solos bears listening to in detail. Two people, shredding, at pace, in perfect unison. As for Haruna, the drummer. She is quite simply amongst the most talented drummers I have ever seen. She plays at the pace you just saw for up to two hours, uses every piece of her drum kit, in very inventive ways, and is the best user of cymbals you will ever hear. The bassist….she left over a year ago. Keep an eye on Lovebites UA-cam channel on Friday (21:00 Japanese time) as its odds on we are going to learn which lucky individual has been chosen to replace her. The Wolfpack, the fan base that takes its name from the bands use of Wolves in all their album artwork, is holding its collective breath. You simply MUST explore this band as deeply as possible so that your subscribers get the chance to appreciate them and to help expand what is a relatively small fan base.
You just stepped into a whole new world of metal/rock with Lovebites, trust me after each song you check out you will be blown away on a continual basis, they have 4 EPs and 3 full albums with a total of 50 songs and 3 covers and they are all completely different from each other. These ladies do not believe in filler songs and there are no repetitive compositions all very constructive compositions and all masterfully done to perfection. Some songs are epic like this one and others are masterpieces and all soon will become classics. It doesn't matter which song you choose from their catalog they are all that good, they literally make many other bands look like amateurs and have taken metal to a whole different level that no one or any other band comes close o their caliber. One other thing, they are in complete contrast to the norm of metal, hence the white outfits. The lyrics are uplifting and encouraging very poetic and they are never about doom darkness and dreary speaking of evil hell fire but the total opposite. Asami "The one and Only" vocals, Miyako "The golden Touch" dark hair guitarist, Midori "Crazy Shredder" blonde guitarist, Haruna "Little big Engine" drummer, and Miho "Natural headbanger" are their names.
And Miyako (black hair guitar) was 4 months pregnant: this is more impressive!

Lovebites is so freaking phenomenal. They catch everybody by surprise, especially anyone who thinks, oh must be like Baby Metal or Band Maid because they are female and from Japan. But when you see and hear the talent and listen to their amazing songs you realize they are totally legit and on par with the best bands in the world. Spread the word - Lovebites is phenomenal.

Ok, you jumped right in the deep end! Welcome to the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. Whatever the description, I think one can say they have given metal a badly needed makeover and maybe a new lease on life. They have themselves said that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed most of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics.
They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters.
This is one of their thrashier songs. They do everything from soulful power ballads to powermetal to thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like a demon). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Miyako is also a professional-level concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. Welcome to the revitalization/modernization of 80's metal. Lovebites blends power/thrash/speed/heavy metal like no other. Miyako (right) and Midori (left) are the best guitar lead duo going today, if not ever. I've been listening to metal since 1971 (Zeppelin) and Lovebites are my all time favorite band. Haruna is an engine on drum, using the entire kit with amazing little fills. Asami's vocals are perfect anti-metal. Too bad Miho left, but there is a big announcement in a few days.

Lovebites is what happens when a group very Talented ladies who love 'classic' Metal music decide to form a Band to bring back that Classic Metal sound, only updated to 21st Century levels of technique and composition. Their inspiration comes from Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica . . . , but they have taken that Style and put their own stamp on it. They wear lovely gowns and jewelry instead of black leather and tattoos, and they write uplifting lyrics instead of anger and doom. Asami (vocals) shouts out at each of their shows: 'We are Lovebites, and we play Heavy Metaaaal!' - And f**k yeah, do they ever. 🤘🐺🤘
