The 16mm 2.8 and XS10 is my vlogging combination. Very good lens. Its fast enough, very compact, and easy to have as a 2nd or 3rd lens in your bag. I had the Sigma 16mm 1.4 and its great but in my book compact size always win.
Hi! How is the noise of 16mm 2.8 when autofocusing? Can it be heard on your videos? I also have an xs10 and am planning to get a second lens also for vlogging. Would love to get your input on this lens. Thanks 💕🙏🏻
Yup. My go to video lens on my XH2 and XT4 before that for in the field work. Been using it for 2 years now. Incredibly sharp for stills as well. One of the best inexpensive Fuji's.
Picked one up for €260 and unexpectedly took to it immediately, imperfections and all. Reminds me of the Pentax 15mm f4, which I loved and which shares many of the weaknesses of this lens. I have otherwise mainly fast and bigger lenses but wondered whether this might pair nicely with my 30mm for a lighter kit. What this lens will actually be doing is replacing my x100v. I prefered the 18.5mm of the x70 anyway, just not the fiddly controls so kind of ended up with the x100v by accident. With the x-t5 digital teleconveter this lens offers a compact walkaround package rhat can offer me 16mm (its noticeably wider actually), 22.4mm, and 32mm. Its not quite as contrasty as the x100v but easy to add in post if needed. Also, I can sleep much more happily with a lens that cost €260 being only used occasionally compared to a camera that is worth 6x that only getting occasional use. A fun lens. For optimal IQ I have the 18 1.4 and both certainly have their place!
Very good compromise. You really want corners "sharp" for landscape. For portrait, where you may want more subject separation, you do not care about the corner. Very good positioning of this lens by Fuji. I have Viltrox 13, 23 and 56... But with this lens, Fuji is making some points.
Hi Andrei, maybe a good idea to make a 'What's in my bag' video after the downsizing? To share which lenses you decided to keep and which to let go. Could be aninteresting perspective for those that are interested in travel photography set ups. Anyway, just a thought. Keep up the good work
I have both the f/1.4 and f/2.8 versions of the 16mm Fujifilm lenses, and I use the f/2.8 model about 80% of the time. The faster lens is terrific and certainly worthy of all the praise, but it is quite large. If you know that you will be shooting in good light and in the middle of the aperture ring, then the f/2.8 is more than good enough, plus it is smaller and lighter. I'm glad that I have both, but if you are economizing, fear not if getting the slower lens. It's very good and a great value.
I sold my copy for the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 and well, I sort of regret it. The Sigma is a beast! I got it new for about 260€ during a Black Friday sale. It is a good lens, but the weight and size is not very fun. The 16mm f/2.8 was good. So small, light weight, good enough Image quality, good build and weather resistance. All that for very little money!
Hey there , i am currently planning to buy a 16mm . Should I go with sigma 16 1.4 or fuji 16mm f/2.8 , I can not take the 16mm f/1.4 because of budget restrictions
@@sumedhnikam5961 depends if you need the faster lens or not. F/2.8 and f/1.4 is a big difference! At this point I would pick the Fuji 16mm f/2.8 because of the size and weight
I hope Fuji release a new F2 WR LM version of 16mm or 18mm lens and under 200g. Because the new XF16-50 at 240g makes those primes redundant. Maybe the 18mm Mkii with WR and LM? That would be awesome. That being said, it doesn’t have to be pancake if the IQ is improved though.
Looks like you enjoyed Valencia! I went to Berklee there 👌 Would you recommend this lense for static music videos (XS20 on tripod pointed at me plying piano for example) Thanks!
I liked the 18mm F2 but it was too noisy for video so was about to buy this XF 16mm for stills and video then saw the Sigma 10-18mm! Best of both worlds, f/2.8 and not too big.
The Fujifilm 16-80mm f4 is a lens that covers a good range, you don't always need just wide lenses for landscape. If you want primes the 16mm f2.8 and the 23mm f2.
Thank you for the review, very nice video and footage! The barrel distortion is rather extreme on this lens and thus no amount of profile lens correction done in software can recover the corners. But if your not too fussy with corners actually would be great for weddings and environmental portraits.

Thank you ever so kindly for this fabulous lens review! ... What lens would you recommend for landscape photography for the XT30 ii body?

I know it’s a little bit wider, but I am absolutely loving the Viltrox 13 mm 1.4…🎉 If you don’t own that lens, you’re missing out
I love my Viltrox 13mm f1.4, I made two videos about it.
@@AndreiDimaReviewsthis or viltrox for photo and video?
@@jaymills1720 the Viltrox.
Great review as usual. Nice lens for minimalist walkabout
Thanks! 👍
Great review! Between this one and the Viltrox 13mm 1.4, which one would you choose for video?
Thank you! Viltrox 13mm f1.4 is better for video.
Thank you. Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
It looks so good great review Andrei
Thanks so much!
Another great, real world review - thank you! :)
Glad you liked it!
@@AndreiDimaReviews Cheers!
in low light situation is amazing! fast and nice focus
It really is!
Nice, might have to add it to my collection 😅! How do you find it compared to 16-55mm at f/2.8 📷?
I think the centre has the same level of sharpness but the 16-55mm has better corners.
Very nice photos of Valencia 😃
Glad you like them!
hi! this or the 16mm f1.4 for filming and photography? which one do you think is better? more noisy? and gives better bokeh ish? ty
The 16mm f2.8 is better for video because it has better autofocus. If you want less noise and more bokeh then go with the 16mm f1.4.
How loud do you find the lens when its in continuous auto focus? Mine seems to keep making noises on my XS10 body
It makes a bit of noise but not very loud.
Super commentary thank you
Very interesting lens. Thanks for sahring Andrei. Like 143 👍👍
Greetings
Many thanks!
You'll never make me part with my 16/1.4!!! 😁
I sold mine after I got the Viltrox 13mm and I still regret it. I think the 16mm f1.4 and 35mm f1.4 are very special lenses.
@@AndreiDimaReviews Yeh I think it is, one of the last lenses with character but also pretty decent AF.
I have this on my XPro 3 and it is my favourite lens followed by the 35mm f/2. I have the 23mm f/2 but not happy with the poor sharpness.
I just got the 23mm f/2 and I am testing it on X-T5.
