Dunkeld and Birnam: The Way We Were 1950-1953 Cine Film

This 9.5mm cine film was commissioned by Mr and Mrs Young of the former Young's Garage in Birnam. It shows life in and around Dunkeld and Birnam between 1950 and 1953, with scenes of the highland games, village life, curling on Polney Loch, local beauty spots, businesses, people, buildings as they were etc etc. Also included is a celebratory pageant for the coronation of the late Queen Elizabeth II. It is a fascinating glimpse into life 70 years ago. It is in black&white and has no sound other than some cheesy synthesiser music which was added later when the film was transferred onto DVD many years later. We would love to know if you recognise anyone in the film. Some of the children taking part in the sports might still be alive today (2022).
